His & Simpson's camps denied the Post's Pg 6 stupidity yesterday. I don't know why the rest of the internet keeps repeating it. They have a friend in common & were out with a large
group. If they'd been together for any length of time in a city as crowded and nosy as NYC somebody would've snapped a cell fone shot, either in or out of Soho House. Please.
Aside from that, I have seen a couple of old movies where he did a better than good acting job (and Phantom was not one of them). Check out "Dear Frankie" and "The Jury". He totally needs
this Shakespeare work with far better trained and more experienced actors than he is to raise the bar around him. He's at a point in his career when the money and the fans aren't enough. He
needs good reviews or he's going to be the next Van Damme.
Interesting...
Your wrong about his past couple of weeks. His movie made about 10 million more opening weekend that anyone expected coming in #2 at the box office and SNL was the highest rated,
well-received episode of the new season! On top of that, he produced Law Abiding Citizen which stands to do better at the box office from strong audience positive reaction at 94%, a new
record for a fall thriller! I think Mr. Butler is having a terrific couple of weeks, one of his best runs ever! Not to mention, he is going to start opposite Mr. Finnes in a Shakesperean
Epic! We should all be having such crappy weeks.
I love this guy....he is gorgeous, charming and talented!
DITTO.....to everything the poster above me said. I think Gerry is a phenomenal actor! He can do any type of character he puts his mind too. I think he did a fabulous job in Phantom Of The
Opera and his voice is spectacular, too! IMHO!
I used to find him attractive, and loved him in some of his older movies especially Dear Frankie, but recently he seems to be doing more and more crap that pays big. I can't blame him I guess
you make the money while you're hot and in demand and have a good asking price, and later you can do whatever you want to.
Spittle was interviewed recently by an attractive reporter who had to clarify for him during their discussion that “I’m a journalist so I’m off limits”.
His response?
He leans in and arrogantly assured her, because his claim to fame consists of grunting and bugging his eyes out like a violent bodybuilder, that:
“No, you’re not off limits”.
Say what motherf-cker?
Please.
This from a man who cannot speak without spraying.
And then this from M who was at a pool party in Brooklyn with Spittle dressed in a blue tee, cargo shorts, not particularly attractive, and also much shorter than he’s sold to be, a normal
looking dude accompanied by his “manager” standing by the dodgeball court surrounded by nubile, very young ladies.
M and her friends were debating whether or not it was really Spittle. As M puts it, she’s “drunk enough to go confirm”. So she walks up to him and apologises for bothering him and asks if
he’s Gerard Butler because she just made a bet that he was Gerard Butler.
After acknowledging that he was indeed Gerard Butler, he then asked M if she wanted to win another bet.
“You should unbutton your shorts and dance along the fence.”

And he answered magnanimously:
MY TIME.
Spittle is so generous, non?
Needless to say, she didn’t care to have any more of his time. So she walked away, laughing at him, followed by “his manager”, who tagged along to come hear what she reported back to her
friends, and they ended up laughing in his face until he scurried away too.
So the moms and the aunts love Spittle. And Spittle is SUCH a gentleman.
I voted to leave him, but it's not that I'm over him, it's that I've never been into him. He's a horrible actor and I'm tired of people being surprised at why he turns up in such bad movies.
Stop acting Gerard and find another day job.
I feel his quality of work has declined steadily since 300. I have seen his older work such as "Dear Frankie " and " The Jury " ( A British TV show) and he did a great job in both of those
.Phantom was a pretty decent job on the whole even though he isn't a great singer like Micheal Crawford. I loved his work style in these films and his scottish accent as well . In 300 he was
ok acting wise but the film made a great impact on most other audiences because of the Artistic style & awesome Visual Effects it had. I am a Visual Effects Artist so I know that 80 % of
the success of the film was due to the VFX it had and the artistic style they developed for that film.
However since 300 his career has been headed for a downfall PS : I love you was decent due to Hilary Swank & other actors . The Ugly Truth was AWFUL !! It was a waste time & money. I
didn't bother watching Gamer coz I knew it was rip off from Death Race & couple other films. The Law Abiding Citizen was extremely mediocre to say the least as far as his acting & the
theme in general was concerned.
I feel he should focus on doing 1- 2 quality films a year rather than doing whole bunch of crappy films or stupid TV shows. I don't think I'll watch his films now unless the quality improves
drastically in the upcoming year .
I have had the honor of meeting Mr. Butler, and I found him to be very charming, and personable, and just plain nice. Why do this! It is amazing to me how many of you without knowing the
individual human being, believe the ubiquitous BS of slander journalism which this is. Wake up...the people who work for razzi and razzi wannabees spead more bs than an Iowa farmer! Gerry is
none of what you people have described. They do the same to other actors and actresses. It's journalism for sensationalism and a buck! Nothing more and they are feeding off of you. Film
critics are another member of this dubious crowd. If you want to believe these people fine, but you and you alone should be your own critic. If you like Gerry fine if not that's fine too. I
don't think Gerry gives a rip because he has enough of a fan base.
I find that most of the negative comments about Gerard
come from people who are so jealous of him that they
can't possibly see straight.
From all personal encounters with the man people state that
he is gracious, humble, humourous, better looking than on
camera, generous with his time and very intelligent. So,
for those who continue to trash his good name, I say
green is definitely your color, envy that is. Keep your
opinions to yourself until you have something authentic
and personal to report. Stop listening to the crowd that
can't hold this man a candle light either talent wise or
any other wise, and let the man live his life. He is
charimatic, charming, intelligent, humourous, gracious,
generous, caring, talented, and gorgeous. He is more of
a man than most I have ever met, and can successfully create
a character in any movie genre, which is more than you can
say about most actors. He is totally dedicated to his craft
and delivers a fine performance in any movie he appears in
no matter what material he is given.
His talent on SNL despite the crappy material he was given
only proves my point. The man can make anything interesting
and creative.
I say definitely continue to love this man for his character
in not responding to all this bull crap written about him
by people who don't even know how to act their way out of
a paper bag. His talent will sustain him for as long as he
wishes to be a part of this culture.
More power to him and all the best wishes for a continued
successful future.
I was a huge fan of his after I saw Phantom of the Opera, and he was great in Timeline, Lara Croft 2, Dear Frankie, P.S. I Love You, and 300. Unfortunately, his movies have sucked in the past
few years and he has become such a ladies' man that I don't like that much anymore.
Never having seen the original Phantom, I could not compare GB with Michael Crawford as many have done. I was completely mesmerized by his character and the strength of what he was able to
communicate to his audience despite being obscured by a mask. I become a big fan. While considering many Broadway actors who were not singers, I found GB's voice up to the task of his
character. I have to give him a lot of credit for the chances he has taken as an actor...from musicals to action to romantic comedies...including that wonderful gem "Dear Frankie".
I am not particularly interested in the size of his pecs or how he looks with his shirt off. I pay my money and want to see a well-acted performance. I will agree that Hollywood grinds out a
lot of garbage with its eye to the bottom lime more so than creating something of artistic value. I would love to see GB in a dramatic piece the likes of Jane Austen's Mr. Darcy. I think he
is a talented actor with good range and hope to see him take on some roles that will be well received by the public and the critics.
I agree with the above post. I did see the original Phantom years ago, several times, and loved it, but Butler's take on it affected me much more than the other .. I think because it was so
raw and unaffected .. he was just one big open wound, in a way, and that was who the Phantom was in the original story. The guy conveyed that so well, and his sort of rough singing matched
that .. I thought he was great. I also really liked Dear Frankie, Nim's Island (yeah, I know it was a kid's film but it was sweet!) and one other one he was in I can't think of now. I haven't
seen a lot of his movies because I just can't bear to watch violent films (won't be seeing Law Abiding Citizen!), but whenever the guy is on the screen . I don't know what it is. . . Yeah,
he's handsome, but that's not it .. he's just a compelling presence. You end up feeling what he's feeling, and I think that's the mark of a really great actor . . . to convey the human
experience. I think he'd be great in Austen type stuff and probably near anything he'd try, as well, because he's just got that .. watchable thing .. whatever it is.

He's highly annoying, and not as sexy as everyone keeps going on and on about.
1I'm not a big fan of his, but I actually liked P.S. I Love You.
2I also love Phantom, but he ruined it for me. He can't sing!

8Totally with you #6 above.

10Leave him - and no he wasn't a big deal in 300.
11He is a sexist douchebag.
