2009 Sundance Spotlight: Adam, Humpday, I Love You Phillip Morris
While I won't be heading to the 2009 Sundance Film Festival this year, I will be sorting through the humongous pile of festival entries to share with you some of the films I think look most promising. From quirky documentaries (like Chris Rock's) to talented young filmmaker debuts to a potential runaway hit, Sundance is filled with entertainment possibilities. Here are today's selections:

Jim Carrey Finds Love in Miami
While Jenny McCarthy was off to the White House over the weekend, Jim Carrey was down in Miami getting some sun on the set of his new movie I Love You Phillip Morris. In the film which is based on a true story, Jim is a con artist who tries to escape from prison multiple times after falling in love with his former cell mate, played by Ewan McGregor. Sounds a little heavy, but apparently it's a dark comedy — so hopefully Jim will get to show off that funny side we love so much.

- The Smashing Pumpkins will release an acoustic EP in 2008, NME reports.
- Mischa Barton has signed on for the indie thriller Homecoming, writes Variety.
- Showtime has bought Secret Diary of a Call Girl, a British series based on a sex worker's anonymous journal, Mediaweek reports.
- From the department of weirdness: Michael Douglas is now doing the voiceover for the NBC Nightly News, TV Guide reports.

Jonathan Ross will host the Bafta Awards this year, he announced via his Twitter yesterday, and all of the nominations for this year's ceremony have now been released. The ceremony will take place at the Royal Opera House in London on February 8, and Kate Winslet continues her awesome awards season with two nominations in the best actress category, and Slumdog Millionaire has an enormous 11 nominations including Best Actor for lovely Dev Patel! Sundance Brings Welcome Faces and Exciting New Movies
Some of our favorite rarely-seen famous faces were out at Sundance Film Festival yesterday. Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt premiered their anticipated – and completely precious looking — romantic comedy 500 Days of Summer. Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor continued to hit up the parties in support of I Love You Phillip Morris.
Jim & Jenny: Reigning King & Queen of H'Wood Hair
Jim & Jenny, who since the split of both Jess & John and Kate & Owen are officially the prettiest haired couple in all the land, frolicked and cuddled in Hawaii this week. The two are there on a little romantic vacation, being totally cute and picturesque. Seriously, sometimes I wonder if the celebs see these paparazzi shots and want to get their hands on copies to frame, because these are pretty adorable photos.
