I'm Asking: Who Are Your Finance-Savvy Role Models?

Lately, there's been a whole lotta hoopla surrounding Ivanka Trump - her wedding, for one, her new book, The Trump Card, another. But, it's not just that. I've seen her face cropping up next to finance-related advice columns in Glamour and appearing on daytime talk shows to chat, obviously, about the Donald and The Apprentice, but also to talk shop about her own career successes.

Overall, her rep as a young female business icon seems well-deserved, if not, totally destined. Clearly, Ivanka has learned quite a bit from dad - and she seems to know what she's talking about. So, while I've never been of fan of Mr. Trump, his (more down-to-Earth) daughter seems to have a handle on the business world and a fresh perspective on the economy - when she dishes out advice, it just might be worth taking. What do you think, does Ivanka make for a savvy role model? If not, tell me, who do you look to for business advice?

Ivanka Trump doesn't need much to stun, but a little Brian Reyes never hurt anyone. Her nude tulle gown exudes beautiful sophistication. Note how the slim back belt calls attention to her waist - nice. For accessories, Ivanka chose silver drop earrings and bangles from her own jewelry line, satin Christian Louboutin peep-toe pumps, and Judith Leiber clutch. What do you think?

Celebrity Apprentice: Was the Right Candidate Fired?

The second season of The Celebrity Apprentice kicked off last night with a dramatic bang. There was as much friction on the men's team as the women's team, which made for two hours of arguments and irritated celebrities. Speaking of teams, the team names chosen were almost as random as last season's choices: the women chose Athena as their collective name, which made a little sense, while the men chose Kotu (Kings of the Universe). Moving on.

Donald Trump challenges the teams to bake and sell cupcakes, design a mobile sales center, and go all over NYC selling cupcakes. As with all challenges, the team that makes the most money wins. While Annie Duke and Joan Rivers heat up the kitchen with friction (Joan compares her to Mussolini), Andrew Dice Clay makes it easy for most of his team to want him gone. He whines incessantly from the start, first about the fact that Trump didn't provide any breakfast for them and then about how he "hates" baking cupcakes.

Athena beats Kotu in the first challenge, sending the men to the boardroom. Project manager Herschel Walker brings Andrew and Dennis Rodman back to face the Trumps, and it gets ugly when Herschel calls Andrew a has-been. It seemed that Andrew was the obvious choice for getting fired - aside from the fact that he said he wanted to quit at one point, Herschel raised the most money that day, and Dennis is the biggest celebrity on the show. Do you agree with Trump's decision?

Ivanka. With a name like that you have to have presence. I can attest to the fact that Ivanka does. I met her, years ago, when she was modeling. I was in college dressing shows backstage at a Fashion Week. She went to the University of Pennsylvania with a best friend of mine. I dropped my friend's name and she knew her. We then chatted about life, fashion - you know, the good stuff. She was sweet and she was gorgeous. It's been fun seeing her progress after our chance meeting.

Not only does this girl have style, she has a genuine interest in business. She is learning the ropes of her father's real estate world and she launched her own high-end jewelry collection (which she wears all the time). She's smart and pretty - an envious combination. Oh, and did I mention she has legs for days?

Her style is classic, yes. But she isn't afraid to mix things up with color and by showing a little skin. From crisp coats to goddess gowns, she always looks calm and collected. She may be a daddy's girl, but she has emerged from papa Trump's shadow and is creating an empire all her own.
