Last night at the Kodak Theater Condé Nast hosted Movies Rock which lucky for us will air on CBS next week. The idea was to celebrate film through music with performances by Beyonce, Fergie, John Legend, Tony Bennett, Usher and more. The idea is similar to the Fashion Rocks concert which celebrated Fashion Week and music.

Ever since Judd Apatow had a fame explosion this summer with the release of Knocked Up (and the soon-to-be hit summer comedy Superbad), every project he has even remotely touched is splashed with his name. I predict Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, which Apatow co-wrote with Jake Kasdan, will be no different.

There is a comfort in having an obsession, in committing oneself entirely to something. And for every obsession, there are niche communities where that obsession is shared — and at least a few people who will deem it silly. The idea that everyone needs at least one thing to pour herself into is the theme of Year of the Dog, a cute movie with plenty of heart and poignant truthfulness.

With Halloween just around the corner, October is the perfect time for movie studios to unleash their creepiest films, since we're all in the mood for a good scare. Combine with that the insatiable desire for vampire entertainment, and you've got Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant; a tween fantasy movie that plays out like R.L. Stein's Goosebumps novels on the big screen — but not nearly as scary.

John C. Reilly was most certainly remaining in character at last night's LA premiere of Walk Hard, even serenading the crowd with his vocal stylings at one point. Also out for the big premiere was his co-star Jenna Fischer in a hot and decidedly non-Pam Beesley dress with some sky-high heels, guess her back is all better.

Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly got all fancied up in their tuxedos on the set of Step Brothers. We're already liking this better than the NASCAR jumpsuits they wore for Talladega Nights.
