The press room was packed last night as the winners and presenters filed through after presenting and picking up trophies at the BAFTA TV Awards. It was an exciting night for Skins stars Kaya Scodelario and Hannah Murray, who beamed as they held up the only award that BAFTA TV Awards audience had voted for, while Kenneth Branagh held up the Drama series award he picked up for Wallander. Other winners included Harry Hill, David Mitchell, The Bill, Mad Men and The X Factor — what an exciting, star-studded night!

Happy St Patrick's Day! To celebrate Ireland's patron saint's day, I've been asking you about your favourite Irish band and solo artist. Last year I took a look at some of Ireland's greatest musicians, and this year I've selected my favourite Irish actors.

Sometimes you come across a movie trailer that makes you chuckle or cry a little or gets your heart racing, but the trailer for The Boat That Rocked just plain makes me happy. With a ridiculously fun cast that includes Philip Seymour Hoffman, Bill Nighy, Kenneth Branagh, and Nick Frost (among many others), and an equally fun premise (a group of "rogue" DJs standing up to the British government in the '60s? Yes, please) this comedy looks like it's right up my alley.

While there are a zillion World War II movies out there already, I kept an open mind going into the Tom Cruise star vehicle Valkyrie. Sure, this is a movie that has been dogged by bad press from start to finish (even due, in part, to the fact that Cruise is a Scientologist) but I can see that there is a fascinating movie to be made out of a German resistance movement involving Nazi officers in Adolf Hitler's inner circle.
High-ranking, aristocratic officers attempting to assassinate Hitler?

Josh Hartnett, Jude Law and David Tennant slipped on their ties for the Evening Standard Theatre Awards at London's Royal Opera House yesterday. Josh is becoming quite a fixture on the London scene, thanks to his role in Rain Man, and he looked dreamy alongside his fellow thespians. While David will be bringing his take on Hamlet to London next week, we've got to wait until summer to see Jude in the role.

James McAvoy was honoured with the Film Award at the Variety Club's 56th Annual Showbusiness Awards in London last night, for his performances in movies like Atonement, The Last King of Scotland and Wanted. The accolades just keep on coming for James, who attended the ceremony with wife Anne-Marie Duff: not only is he to receive a Fellowship from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow next month (his old drama school), he's also nominated for Best European Actor for Atonement at this year's European Film Awards. As if that all that isn't enough, James will be walking the boards early next year alongside Nigel Harman in Three Days of Rain at London's Apollo Theatre.
