Rihanna stole the show in her dramatic white dress as she and her fellow honorees took the red carpet at last night's Glamour Women of the Year celebration in NYC. Carnegie Hall was brimming with beautiful ladies from Iman to Maria Shriver and Diane von Furstenberg. Catherine Zeta-Jones stood out in blue and had Michael Douglas by her side for support.

Glamour Magazine's Women of the Year gathered at Carnegie Hall in New York City yesterday to celebrate each other's successes. Rihanna and Stella McCartney were amongst those honoured, and were joined by Estelle, who performed on stage. Amy Poehler and Serena Williams collected their awards, while Catherine Zeta-Jones was one of the presenters.

Taking a cue from Michelle Obama, Maria Shriver, first lady of California, is spearheading a victory garden for California. Edible garden beds will be planted in May in Capitol Park in Sacramento.

Staples Center was packed with stars again last night, as Robert Downey Jr. and a few other celebs cheered on the Lakers in LA. RDJ grinned from the front row, still looking as sexy and clean shaven as he did at the Oscars. Adam Levine and John Stamos were also in the crowd while Denzel Washington munched on a bucket of popcorn.

What started out as a small government initiative for working women is now an event attended by thousands and draws only the most inspirational voices to speak. The 2008 Women's Conference was held in Long Beach, CA yesterday, hosted by Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The all-day conference drew a crowd of 14,000 international women from various professional walks of life and 60 speakers aiming to "empower and inspire women to become architects of change."

In her recent interview with Time, Maria Shriver talked about the lack of guidance a first lady gets when they take on the job. She joked that when she became the First Lady of California, she asked if there was some kind of job assignment or packet that tells you what to do, and they said no but she had an office with a tag that said "very special projects of the governor." She said, "I'm supposed to sit as a very special project of the governor?"

I guess I spoke too soon about Jake Gyllenhaal's medical condition — he was back on his crutches yesterday afternoon for The Los Angeles Conservations Corps Spring Luncheon at LA State Park. That didn't stop him from suiting up for the big event and seeming to smile through the pain while there to hand out scholarship money to students. Awww even injured Jake's big heart (and manjoyable grin) shine through.

Activist Actresses Angelina Jolie and Meg Ryan got together with some very noteworthy women in Beverly Hills last night for the International Women's Media Foundation's 18th Annual Courage in Journalism Awards. The honorees, from Mexico, Ethiopia, and Iraq, were awarded last week in DC, but were happy to have another time on the red carpet together in LA last night. Obviously Angelina, Maria Shriver and Meg Ryan were happy to be able to host the women in LA last night, too.
