Penelope Leaves Javier in Bali to Embrace Pedro in Rome

Penelope Cruz joined Pedro Almodovar in Rome on Saturday for a Broken Embraces photo call at the city's famous Trevi Fountain. She's back on the promotional trail after a brief detour to Bali, where she met up with Javier Bardem at the beach during one of his breaks from filming Eat, Pray, Love. Penelope has been the subject of many rumors about her personal life recently, but she's going to be all business for the next few months with her travels on behalf of her film with Pedro and the upcoming Nine and she was already at LAX again yesterday.

Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem hit the beach together earlier this week in Bali, where he's been filming Eat, Pray, Love with Julia Roberts. Javier showed off his shirtless chest while filming with Julia last weekend, but his real life love Penelope gets to enjoy those abs as well. The duo haven't had anything to say about the rumors that they are engaged, but no matter the relationship status they look happy as ever taking advantage of his exotic movie location.

Movie Preview: Broken Embraces

Broken Embraces looks like classic Pedro Almodovar: a sweeping story with a heavy dose of film noir, beautiful to look at, and a dazzling Penelope Cruz. There's a reason the director and his muse always work together - he brings out her strongest performances; she serves as a captivating leading lady. (She even got an Academy Award nomination for his film Volver.)

If the trailer for Broken Embraces is any indication, Cruz may just have critics whispering Oscar again. The film follows an aspiring actress (Cruz) stuck in a marriage to an overbearing guy with deep pockets. But in secret, she's in love with her director. Yes, it's in Spanish with subtitles, but the movie looks packed with passion and mystery, which should make for some very good popcorn-eating. Penelope Cruz Embraces a SATC2 Cameo!

Penelope Cruz headed out to her car yesterday afternoon in NYC. She was fresh off a whirlwind weekend of promoting Broken Embraces, including two parties and multiple press events. Even though Penelope rarely talks about Javier, her BFF Pedro Almodovar had his fair share to say - he opened up at their premiere on Sunday by saying that Penelope has "achieved a very handsome, good boyfriend, two Oscar nominations, one Oscar, and the respect and admiration of her profession." Penelope certainly has a lot going for her, and now she apparently can add a fun guest starring gig to the list - according to Life & Style she'll be making a cameo in Sex and the City 2 where she'll be caught flirting with Mr. Big!

Penelope Finds Embraces All Around NYC

Penelope Cruz had a whirlwind weekend of promoting Broken Embraces in NYC. The Vogue cover girl stepped out in a black leather jacket on Friday and a striped shirt the next afternoon for errand-running, but by Saturday evening Penlope was decked out in a sparkly white gown to be honored at a dinner hosted by Paper magazine. Her late night didn't slow her down yesterday, when she did press in a plaid dress before switching into a gray gown for a premiere with director Pedro Almodovar. Her BFF Salma Hayek brought her husband Francois-Henri Pinault along to pose on the red carpet, though Penelope's own man Javier was off letting her shine in the spotlight solo as engagement rumors continue to circulate.

Penelope Cruz's all-gray outfit at the NYC premiere of Broken Embraces did nothing to shoot down the recent pregnancy rumors. The actress tangled herself in a gray Haider Ackermann gown, topped with an asymmetrical zip jacket by the designer. Providing slight sparkle are a pair of diamond earrings by Chopard and a diamond ring. It's a complex look and I would have loved to see the bodice of the dress, but that jacket is killer. Vogue Gets a Dose of Nine's Gorgeous Gals

Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson, Penelope Cruz, and Marion Cotillard grace the cover of Vogue's November issue in various shades of red to promote their highly anticipated Nine movie. We saw them at the Annie Leibovitz shoot back in February, and the final product looks beautiful. Inside the magazine all of the film's actresses, including Sophia Loren, Judi Dench, and Fergie, posed together. The article gives us a glimpse at how fun filming was for the girls, and Kate even described the experience as "Summer camp." Here are some highlights:

Penelope on her tortured character in the film: "Luckily I don't have to identify with my roles, because if I did I would be dead by now! I've been working since the age of seventeen, and I really haven't stopped. I want to balance it a little more. Instead of making three or four movies a year, I will do one."
Nicole on coming back to work after Sunday Rose: "I had no desire to work after I had my daughter, but to lure me back, this movie was the only way. [But] I'm not playing Claudia Cardinale. Even when I played Virginia Woolf I didn't take the real woman into account."
Kate on getting a role: "I spent most of my childhood singing and dancing and just never had the chance to do it professionally. So when I got the chance to work with Rob, I was so excited, I was out of my mind."
