Ryan Phillippe, Eva Green and Sam Riley took to the red carpet at the London Film Festival last night to premiere their new movie Franklyn (out January 30, 2009), which is described as "a split narrative set simultaneously in contemporary London and in a future metropolis ruled by religious fervor. It's the story of four lost souls... on course for an explosive collision when a single bullet will decide all their fates."

Ryan Phillippe and Eva Green showed off their serious faces on the red carpet at the premiere of Franklyn at the London Film Festival today. While Eva didn't have a problem being Ryan's arm candy, his girlfriend Abbie Cornish was back in the states gushing about him. At the Jay-Z/DJ AM concert, Abbie said, "Ryan Phillippe is a gorgeous guy and I love him."

The Empire Film Awards ceremony was held last night at Grosvenor House, and some top quality stars were there to pick up gongs as well as announce the winners. Matt Damon was there to pick up Best Film for The Bourne Ultimatum, Ewan McGregor picked up the Empire Icon award, and Sam Riley took Best Newcomer for his performance in the excellent Control (which also took Best Soundtrack).
James McAvoy also finally got his hands on a well-deserved Best Actor trophy, his costar Keira didn't show up but received Best Actress anyway, and Atonement won Best British Film.

Some of our country's most seasoned actors enjoyed cocktails (and a slight wardrobe cock-up courtesy of Dame Helen Mirren!) at the London Film Critics' Circle Awards on Friday night. Amongst the stars who gathered at Grosvenor House Hotel for the do were a gorgeous Sienna Miller and a dapper James McAvoy. James and Vanessa Redgrave represented their Oscar-nominated film Atonement and both left happy with their gongs for Best British Actor and Best British Supporting Actress.

Giving baby an unusual moniker seems to be the trend, especially in Hollywood. Parents trying to steer away from more traditional names, but not willing to go as far as Inspektor Pilot, Zuma or Bronx are turning to unisex labels for their babes. Names like Morgan, Charlie and Jordan are becoming increasingly popular to use for both lil ladies and lads.

Mischa Barton, Rosario Dawson and Mandy Moore were out celebrating the opening of the "Vanity Fair Portraits: Photographs 1913-2008" exhibit at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art last night. They were joined by 90210's Shenae Grimes to check out a collection of the magazine's iconic celebrity portraits, while new mom Minnie Driver made her first public appearance since the birth of her son Henry last month. It's the second bash this week to be hosted by Burberry after throwing a party in honor of their Beverly Hills store reopening on Monday, and it looks like lots of stars were happy to go out in support of both art and fashion.

A cavalcade of celebrities turned out for the amFAR Benefit for Aids research at Cannes last night, including the night's auction host, Sharon Stone. Madonna screened a clip from her documentary I Am Because We Are (for those that missed the previous night's premiere) wearing an apricot coloured dress – demure in comparison to her friend Sharon's leopard-print number. Eye candy was provided by my favourite man, Joshua Jackson, who arrived with Diane Kruger on his arm.

Madonna showed up to the annual amfAR Cinema Against AIDS benefit in Cannes tonight with Guy Ritchie on her arm, but once inside it was up to her and Sharon Stone to raise money and awareness as the hosts. The bigger fashion plates of the night were the starlets like flapper Diane and Natalie with her ruffles, but how do you feel about all of the red carpet looks? Worst dressed goes to Sharon in her all leopard ensemble, but we really can't be too picky about costume choices since the celebrities got dressed up for such a good cause.

After spending her morning in a skin tight black pantsuit, Angelina Jolie opted for something a lot more flowy and muumuu-esque for the big Cannes premiere of Changeling tonight. She had Brad on her arm as usual, and it looks like he even got a little frisky with his woman on the red carpet alongside Clint and his wife Dina. In the movie, Angelina plays a woman whose son is kidnapped, and when he returns she is convinced it's a different boy, a role which required a passion that reminded Angie of her own mother.
