Is there ever a case when a smudgy under eye actually looks OK? If the technique is left in the hands of famed makeup artist and Shiseido’s artistic director, Dick Page, then the answer is yes. At Narcisco Rodriguez's show, the models wore smudged eye makeup with minimal foundation.

It's that time of the year again, as kids — and adults alike — head back to school. That means it's also time for the launches of Fall 2009 makeup collections. Using the artistic medium of mosaics for inspiration, Shiseido's artistic director, Dick Page, created the Mosaic collection for the upcoming change of season.

I'm sure you haven't been holding your breath for this release, but if the business side of beauty has always been as intriguing to you as it has to me, I think you'll find the statistics of the top 100 beauty company earners of 2008 quite interesting. The glosses, fragrances and pick-me-up eye shadows that we buy to make ourselves look and feel better add up to some serious poundage and have made brands a full fledged fortune. In '08 alone, the cosmetics industry have scrounged together a whopping $168.21 Billion (that's roughly £105 Billion).

Cult Japanese skincare brand Shiseido has its sites set high as it aims to become a global beauty player with a new makeup line, early next year. The range is being developed with New York-based makeup artist Dick Paige and will be called, simply, Shiseido. Starting with a selection of moisturising lipsticks and lip pencils, the line will debut in Japan and the US in January 2009 before being rolled out worldwide in the first half of next year.

Backstage at Alexander Wang, the designer told me his inspiration for the hair and makeup was "sweat." Well, he couldn't have picked a more humid and rainy day to show.
Just as hot-and-bothered was the beauty look.

My Nintendo DS knows the contours of my thumbs very well — why shouldn't it know the contours of my face? In late November, when Project Beauty launches, it will. Project Beauty, the result of a collaboration between Shiseido and Nintendo DS, is a DS game that will recognize your face from a scan, and will then make beauty product recommendations for you (probably Shiseido products).

How does outer space smell? Apparently, it smells good: I've been noticing fragrances that claim to be scented like the cosmos, and I don't mean Sun Moon Stars from Lagerfeld. Givenchy’s new men's release, Givenchy Pi Neo ($47.50 for 1.7 oz), includes “patented, futuristic” notes.

Saturday night at the 2008 VH1 Rock Honors, Mila Kunis donned a soft, wavy two-toned updo, dark and sexy seductive smoky eyes and icy cool lips. I love this modern dressy makeup look and Miss Mila has just the right amount of mojo to pull it off.
This intricate look is easy to achieve.

It's not just your skin that needs extra protection and TLC in the sun, your hair does too – especially if you have naturally dry, dyed or permed/straightened hair. Ideally you'd wear one of the newly-fashionable D&G headscarves, or a hat like Sienna, but sometimes a girl likes to let her tresses flow freely.
In that case, make sure you use protection.

Not only can the harmful rays of the sun affect your skin, they can also be damaging to your hair — especially if it is chemically and/or color treated. Below are three great SPF-enhanced products that will help protect your hair from drying out, breaking and oxidizing while you're frolicking away on a sunny day.
Capri Sun-Shield Spray ($20) is yet another new beauty product inspired by the jet-setting Italian island.
