The Gap may have many loyal followers stocking up on its basic tees, but its balance sheet hasn't been seeing much black — until lately. The company reported a 51 percent increase in profit last quarter, even though sales were down, by cutting costs and managing inventory. Good for the Gap, but what do the global company's finances have to do with you and me?

For the first 25 seconds of this new Gap commercial starring Claire Danes and Patrick Wilson (Phantom of the Opera, Little Children, does that help?), I was wondering about and slightly annoyed by Claire's lack of pants. Then, all of a sudden, it made sense. It may not be the ad that helped bring back swing dancing, but it's pretty darn cute.

Stella McCartney's first ever childrenswear collection landed in Gap stores across the globe earlier this month and has already been so successful that they've snapped her up for another.
The British designer who had previously had a sell-out womenswear collaboration with H&M, created on trend yet practical items for kids which adults wanted for themselves. The best selling item from the line was a military jacket for boys.

Stylish mamas can breathe again... the wait is over! When word broke that Stella McCartney was going to design a line of children's clothes for GapKids and BabyGap, fashion forward mums were chomping at the bit to get a peek at what would surely be a fabulous line sheet.

Look up here and say cheese! It is human nature for a woman to think her child is the cutest being that ever crawled the planet but not every mom is savvy enough to recognize the rewards that can come with that precious mug. Proud mamas can enter their babe into Gap's casting call now through Oct.

The stars spread some holiday cheer last night at Gap's new 8,000-square-foot concept store in Soho. The always-adorable Becki Newton and Emmy Rossum stopped by and tried on scarves and hats. The City's Roxy Olin also made a cameo and left with a bag full of goodies.
