James Franco and Emile Hirsch were looking suave in their suits leaving the New York Times building in NYC yesterday after participating in a panel discussion about their film Milk. They probably have lots to say about their movie, especially considering its renewed relevance in the wake of the Proposition 8 controversy. From there, James was off to film a segment for The Late Show that airs on Friday. It's his second visit to the show since July, and even without his also hot costar by his side, James was probably his usual charming self.

Paris Takes the Party From Her Nightclub to Dave's Hot Seat

Paris Hilton showed up at The Late Show in one outfit but changed into a patriotic dress for her election eve interview. She headed back to LA last night, but not before her usual flirting banter with "new BFF" Dave. The heiress was promoting both Repo the Genetic Opera and her Fairy Dust perfume, which Dave jokingly used as mouth spray. He also teased her about Benji's tattoos and her show, and she dished about her Halloween costume. Ashley Olsen Can Recognize Herself on Letterman

Ashley Olsen stopped by Letterman last night looking simply beautiful in simple black, perfect for your more influential of the twins. Ashley held her own against Dave's usual barrage of questions and a fun game of "is this you or your sister." As usual, Ashley sounded completely composed, but still cracked a few jokes like asking to borrow the Sarah Palin's passport costume from earlier in the show. When Dave asked if a photo of Diane von Furstenberg was their mom, she played along saying that Karl Lagerfeld is their dad. In the spirit of today, Ashley talked about trick or treating wherever she and Mary-Kate happened to be when they were growing up, but didn't reveal any plans for tonight — at least we know what she'll be dressed up as.

Dave wasted no time teasing LC about The Hills, but also made a point of making fun of Spencer and Brody to even things out a bit. Lauren seemed to take Dave's jokes all in stride, but she had her boyfriend Kyle Howard right there to take her to dinner afterward if she needed any cheering up. Sarah's quirky charm and attitude were endearing as usual, so it's no wonder she scored a spot on our 10 Most Underrated Actresses list.

Anne Puts Her Head in Her Hands and Talks Raffaello

Anne Hathaway stopped by The Late Show yesterday and soon as David Letterman was done complimenting her glowing appearance — which she attributed to quitting smoking, drinking and becoming "vaguely vegan" — he grilled her about her ex, Raffaello Follieri. Dave told her to stop him when he crossed the line, but she held her own as he asked her everything from how long they knew each other to whether he ever stole things out of her purse. She claimed not to know the details of his jail time or case, though she'll probably see the headlines when he's sentenced this Friday. Anne has spoken up about her ex before, but last night she was able to joke about "crashing and burning." With the actress getting so much praise already for Rachel Getting Married and a new project in the works, hopefully Anne is staying happily distracted.

Paris Goes Green to Tell Dave All About Her BFFs

Paris Hilton was in NYC yesterday to pay her third visit of the year to David Letterman at The Late Show. She was dressed up in bright green DvF to chat about her new show and explain the challenges she subjected her contestants to, like playing polo on male models' backs and enduring a 24-hour partying marathon, along with a few Benji shoutouts. Things also got political as they discussed their mutual disses from John McCain. Paris and Dave have quite a rapport, and with all of the products Paris has to push these days, it wouldn't be a surprise if she fits in a fourth visit before 2009.

Jessica Bandages Up and Talks Football on Letterman

Jessica Simpson stopped by The Late Show last night in a skin-tight Herve Leger dress and as soon as she stepped on stage, Dave Letterman wanted to talk football. He grilled her about her first date with Tony, her "jinx" status, and why she will never wear a pink jersey again (blue only from now on). She assured Dave that Tony's "firing the pigskin real right" and won the debate over whether QBs wear cups — all while showing off that trademark laugh. When she finally got to the music, she performed "Come on Over" in that country twang that has already gotten her album to No. 1 on iTunes this week.

Fresh from her trip to Canada for the premiere of The Duchess at the Toronto Film Festival, Keira Knightley was in NYC yesterday to visit The Late Show. She sat down with David Letterman to share stories about not getting hit on by Jack Nicholson and her failed attempts at working out — no huge surprise, since she's never seemed like a gym rat. Keira wasn't in one of her fancier outfits, but since she's known to be such a fashionista, perhaps she'll stay in the city to check out some of the action in the tents.

She looked fabulous showing off those hot legs once again, but revealed to Dave that it's her shoe collection she prizes the most. Shannen is known for being blunt, and later that day she was typically straightforward when asked which original 90210 character she wants to return to the spinoff. She said, "Brian Austin Green! I adore Brian, and we’ve always had a really strong relationship." Looks like we have more than one thing in common with Shannen - return of BAG and a love of shoes.

Cutie James Franco offered a big grin and a wave to his fans on his way to The Late Show in NYC last night. He got to work promoting Pineapple Express before the big premiere tonight, and his chat with Dave was a very special one — his first! James admitted he was nervous as he talked about his grandma, his parents, and how working at McDonald's helped him practice acting and score dates. James has come a long way since his days manning the drive-thru, and we're looking forward to seeing a lot more of that smirk in the next couple of weeks.

The day after The X-Files: I Want to Believe had its big LA premiere, David Duchovny stopped by The Late Show looking handsome in his jeans and blazer. Unfortunately, the movie isn't getting great reviews, including from Buzz — maybe just enjoy the X-Files trivia quiz instead. David didn't talk much about the film, but he had us laughing with his stories of his first Summer job, how he's moving to NYC for the old people, and his son's embarrassingly placed bee sting. Even if the movie isn't a huge hit, we're even more excited to have him back for season two of Californication soon.

Mary-Kate Olsen kept up with her new strategy — all smiles all the time! — on her way into The Late Show yesterday. She looks gorgeous showing off the grin alongside those stems. Olsen teeth used to be a holiday, but now it's standard fare, and that cheery attitude carried right on into the studio to chat with Dave promoting The Wackness. MK was admittedly a bit jet-lagged flying straight from the Samantha Who? set but still managed to be charming and funny talking about making out with Gandhi. Plus, she admitted that she went to high school with Spencer Pratt but didn't have much positive to say about that — check out the video below. Love her.

Charlize Theron had a quick change yesterday after TRL and poured herself into this hot little number to head over to The Late Show and say hi to David Letterman. Before getting down to promoting Hancock, Charlize and David discussed her upcoming thirty-third birthday and her plans for the Summer — she wants to go somewhere off the beaten path and "rough it." Of course she'll take her long-term love Stuart Townsend along for the trip, and even though she referred to him as her boyfriend, she made it clear that they're married in their own way by flaunting the diamond ring on her left hand. Between a blockbuster film and some good old-fashioned bling, life sounds good for gorgeous Charlize.

Zooey Deschanel looked picture perfect on her way into The Late Show with David Letterman yesterday afternoon. She always looks so put together and if you like her style too enter to win her Lucky cover look. I love me some Zooey, but the whole interview seemed a touch awkward — watch the video below — but perhaps it's just her quirky mannerisms. While even just the previews for The Happening give me nightmares, we'll have to wait and see how audiences respond to it this weekend. If anything, it's big leading lady moves for Miss Zooey, so yay for that.

Sarah Jessica Parker arrived at The Late Show yesterday with her jeans folded on one side which means it's possible that women everywhere will follow suit. SJP is in promo mode for the Sex and the City movie, but last night she changed things up by showing off her bird calling skills for Letterman. She also dished on the genderless fragrance she's been working on, dodged questions about possible siblings for James Wilkie, and talked about her crazy red carpet headgear. With the release date only a week away, even SJP's hidden talents are making us more excited to finally see her movie.

America's Ready for Betty's Big Moves

Shia Dishes on His Drugstore Loitering

Fresh off his busy weekend hosting SNL and catching the eye of a few ladies around NYC, Shia LaBeouf slipped on a suit and tie to have a chat with Dave Letterman last night. He was there to promote Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, but mostly he just wanted to talk about his drunk arrest at Walgreen's last year. He gave the play-by-play from heading to the store for some pimple cream and posing for the best mugshot of 2007, to getting a phone call from Steven Spielberg the next morning. Luckily Shia is taking the whole thing in stride and getting a lot of laughs about it, but we'll be waiting to see if he will have an even better tale of troublemaking for Dave the next time around.
