Everybody's favorite TV mob boss appears to have turned over a new leaf. James Gandolfini has been cast to play the NYC mayor in director Tony Scott's remake of the 1974 thriller The Taking of Pelham One, Two, Three. He joins Denzel Washington and John Travolta.

Zach Galifianakis's star continues to rise. The Hangover funny man is reportedly in talks for Town House. Loosely based on the novel by Tish Cohen, the dramedy follows an agoraphobic dad (Galifianakis) living off royalties from his rock star father — the dilemma being what to do when the money runs out.

- The suspect in the case of Mark Ruffalo's brother's death has been cleared after stating that Scott shot himself in the head while playing Russian roulette. Mark's family released a statement saying they appreciate the support and have set up a memorial fund in Scott's name.

Jonathan Ross will host the Bafta Awards this year, he announced via his Twitter yesterday, and all of the nominations for this year's ceremony have now been released. The ceremony will take place at the Royal Opera House in London on February 8, and Kate Winslet continues her awesome awards season with two nominations in the best actress category, and Slumdog Millionaire has an enormous 11 nominations including Best Actor for lovely Dev Patel! - Kate Winslet has earned two more acting nominations for her work in Revolutionary Road and The Reader, this time in the Screen Actors Guild awards. Danny Boyle's movie Slumdog Millionaire, starring Skins actor Dev Patel is up for Best Ensemble. — BBC

Before there was Dana Perino, before Tony Snow, was the sublime Ari Fleischer's replacement, Scott McClellan. As a sort of press secretary groupie, I have to say he never really did it for me. He was the young-looking, usually grumpy, never quite comfortable press secretary for George W.
