Heidi Klum and Kim Kardashian Impress in Their Red Dresses

Heidi Klum and Kim Kardashian united in NYC last night to strut the runway at the annual Heart Truth Show. The charity presentation usually kicks off Fall Fashion Week, with last year's event bringing out the likes of Amanda Bynes and Hilary Duff. Kim spent last weekend supporting her boyfriend Reggie Bush during his Super Bowl, but it was his turn to do the cheering on yesterday as he watched her from the front row. Real Housewife of New York Bethenny Frankel showed off her growing baby bump, while Heidi Klum brought two red dresses along after spending the afternoon launching her new maternity line and talking about how she got back in shape after pregnancy. Heidi's adding to her growing list of jobs with an upcoming cameo on Desperate Housewives, but her first TV baby, Project Runway, was back with a new episode last night - do you think the right designer was sent home?

Eva Longoria Supports Her Friends and Helps Fight Cancer

Eva Longoria was a busy girl, bouncing from one event to another in LA over the weekend. On Saturday she accepted a $200,000 donation from AT&T benefiting PADRES, an organization she's involved in that helps Hispanic families fighting against cancer. Yesterday she joined her Desperate Housewives costars to support Felicity Huffman's new film, Phoebe in Wonderland. Meanwhile, things are heating up for Gaby on Wisteria Lane as we get ready to see some kissing between two of the women when the show returns.

Movie Preview: Bart Got a Room

I saw Bart Got a Room at last year's Tribeca Film Festival and totally enjoyed it - if you'd like, you can read my review (without getting spoiled). Now there's a trailer for it and it's apparently "coming soon." I highly recommend putting this one on the to-see list for some time when you need a pretty light, easy movie that isn't too taxing, isn't too substantial and leaves you feeling good in the end.

Set in Florida, the movie follows Danny (Steven Kaplan), a teen who wants nothing more than to get some action on prom night. Over the course of the film, we watch the excruciating three weeks leading up to the big night as Danny secures everything (tux, limo, hotel room) - except for the girl. William H. Macy and Cheryl Hines play Danny's divorced parents while Alia Shawkat plays Danny's good friend.

It's a sweet little movie with some great Big Band music throughout. To check out the trailer, read more.

BlackBerry Brings in a Slew of Bold Stars

BlackBerry has had quite the celebrity-filled week, launching Storm with John Mayer on Wednesday followed by its Bold launch party in LA on Thursday night. Kate Bosworth glowed in her simple and neutral-toned outfit, while Mario Lopez and Eva Longoria laughed and chatted together. Hayden Panettiere took a break from saving the whales to show off her new tattoo and posed with ex-boyfriend Stephen Colletti inside the party. Molly Sims and Rachel Zoe matched with their long wavy blond hair, and all of the stars looked like they had a blast on Halloween eve.

Life's Anything But Desperate for Felicity and William

Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy looked like they were having a blast, showing off their beach bodies in Maui yesterday. Felicity kept it modest in her shorts and one-piece swimsuit as she and William took turns making funny faces and picking up daughters Georgia and Sofia while frolicking in the ocean. Looks like Felicity is making wonderful use of her time before she goes back to work on Desperate Housewives.

Tribeca Preview: Bart Got A Room

Sure, maybe we don't need another coming-of-age comedy with awkward geeky boys, but I'll still watch one. Especially one with William H. Macy who was funny/pathetic in his Sundance comedy The Deal (not to be confused with Deal, which should not be confused with 21 - or Rounders, as Brittfish pointed out), along with Cheryl Hines and Alia Shawkat (who is pretty busy these days).

The Tribeca description of Bart Got A Room states that "director and writer Brian Hecker takes us back in time to a quirky world full of plastic flamingos, golf carts, and teen anxiety." The pink flamingos and golf carts are because the movie's set in Florida. Teen anxiety, in this case, is caused by young Danny's (Steven Kaplan) desire to get some action on prom night. He's got everything - limo, tux, hotel room - except for the girl. Apparently the film follows Danny on an excruciating three weeks as he searches for a prom date. I seriously can't wait to see this one when I get to Tribeca.

Sundance Review: The Deal

The Deal, a lighthearted industry satire, can be loosely deemed a "romantic comedy," though there's not much romance and the comedy sometimes comes out flat. William H. Macy wrote the screenplay from Peter Lefcourt's novel and the movie is so filled with winky inside jokes about Hollywood and The Film Industry that one grows tired trying to catch them all. Still, it's not without its charms and fun silliness. It isn't a movie I would seek out ever again, but it was certainly a welcome reprieve from some of the more draining Sundance fare this year.

Meg Ryan and William H. Macy serve as the film's core romantic couple who supposedly have passion for one another simmering below all their sassy, contentious banter. Macy plays the formerly successful now deeply depressed filmmaker Charlie Berns whose suicide attempts are interrupted when his bright, upbeat nephew Lionel (the ridiculously cute Jason Ritter) comes to town toting his screenplay about about 19th century English statesman Benjamin Disraeli. Suddenly, Charlie is struck with the inspiration to make his nephew's script into a big-budget action flick starring the hot actor of the time: a giant beefcake (LL Cool J) who recently converted to Judaism. From there, it's just a matter of getting a studio to back the project and a couple writers to rewrite the script into Hollywood fluff. Of course, it's not quite that easy, so read more.

Enter studio head Deidre Hearn (Ryan) who struggles to balance the demands of her studio, Charlie's ambivalent attitude, the action star's fickleness and the director's temper. Just when things are looking okay, however, the film's star is kidnapped from the South African set. Like most things since Charlie stopped caring about life, this doesn't faze him at all and he charges ahead with a plan to save the movie.

For the most part, Charlie gets a lot of what he wants with this film project because he's basically given up on Hollywood and his life, and has taken to making brash crazy decisions since the repercussions don't really matter to him. It seems like the bottom line here is that the only way to deal with Hollywood is if you're suicidal and don't give a damn about anything anymore. Which, in this case, is actually done in a darkly funny way.

The Sundance guide's description of The Deal claims that "The mischievous charm in this smart screwball satire . . . hinges on the wonderfully crackly Tracy-Hepburn chemistry between William Macy and Meg Ryan." This a huge exaggeration, though I can see how someone promoting the film might write that. On paper, the back-and-forth could be seen as funny and electric, and both actors put in a lot of effort to make the chemistry "crackle." But they both just seem tired here and it's hard to buy them as friends, much less sexual companions.

It's also mildly disturbing to see Ryan sort of channeling her role from When Harry Met Sally when she currently seems to have a hard time being physically expressive. I like Meg Ryan and I don't want to be unkind, but she can't move her facial features very well anymore, making it hard for those eyebrows to arch in indignation or those eyes to twinkle in joy. Her sweet little voice is still the same, but everything else is just the spooky skeletal remains of the romantic leading lady she once was. It made me sad, and the rest of the film - while humorous - didn't make me laugh enough to make up for it.

Celebrities (and Sightings) Still Cycling Through Sundance

While my exhausted tail returned to San Francisco last night, the fun rolls on at Sundance with a whole new group of celebs coming into town to brave the cold and show off their movies. Other than Diddy, who was mostly there to show off his vodka. Lukas Haas separated himself from Leonardo DiCaprio long enough to premiere his movie, Death in Love which Buzz and I saw last night - totally disturbing (though Adam Brody was really cute in it) - before also seeing him out to breakfast this morning. It's going to be a while before I can look at him in the same way. Buzz was there to see Meg Ryan, Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy at the premiere of Meg/William's cute movie The Deal on Tuesday night, while my only other sighting of these folk was Virgina Madsen at the premiere of her movie Diminished Capacity. I had such a blast at the festival, and be sure to check out all my partner in crime's thoughts plus all the news about movies being bought over on Buzz.

On A Day of Highs and Lows, Sundances On

While the afternoon took a noticeably somber turn as the news of Heath Ledger's tragic death spread over snowy Park City, the morning was for celebrating as Oscar nomination news came to Sundance. While a lot of the celebrities left with the end of MLK day weekend, there was still swag to be scored for some of them. I was lucky enough to stop by the Pure & Natural Celebrity Eco-Retreat and Iconix "Gift Giving For A Cause" Suite benefiting Save the Children to see all the goodies the celebrities have been snatching up as souvenirs. I also ducked into the Wireimage portrait studio thanks to our friends over there and while I didn't get any big celebrity sightings, I was right on the trail of so many of them who have stopped through to pose.

Mischa and Audrina were definitely enjoying the goodies while Diddy was more about pimping his vodka than taking home free stuff. Luke Wilson was looking scruffy, but hopefully his movie luck has turned since BuzzSugar had only good things to say about his movie at the festival, Henry Poole is Here. I'm headed home to slightly warmer SF tonight, but there's a lot more Sundance to come!
