I always welcome Cate Blanchett's smashing style and serene smile. The actress attended a Giorgio Armani event in NYC clad in a royal Armani Privé one-shoulder dress with asymmetrical hemline. Purple satin pumps coordinate without being too matchy, while sparkly blue topaz earrings and a tennis bracelet add shine to her beautiful look.

Katherine Heigl carried Naleigh on Friday evening as they headed into Katherine's parents' house, where they celebrated her sister Meg's newborn baby. That means a cousin for Naleigh, who's settling into life with the Heigl-Kelleys after her adoption two months ago. The party was also timed perfectly for Naleigh's first birthday today, while Katherine turns 31 tomorrow.

Natalie Portman knows how to turn up the volume. At the NYC screening of her new flick, Brothers — btw, she has her first onscreen sex scene in it — the actress wasn't afraid to experiment with color. Her ultraviolet taffeta Jason Wu frock is fun, but a green satin belt, purple Aldo peep-toe pumps, and bright yellow clutch kick it up a few notches.

Ashley Greene joined fellow celebs at the Tim Burton exhibition at MoMA — lucky! — looking quite fine in a D&G ensemble. Her outfit might look like a plain lace LBD at first glace, but look closer.

There's nothing I like more than seeing Sophia Bush step outside the fashion box. Over the weekend, the actress attended The Private Lives of Pippa Lee premiere in NYC looking glam galactic in a long sleeve minidress by Helmut Lang. The abstract powder print is so art nouveau, and I like how she tempered it with sleek suede booties.

Last night at a Benefit For The Whaleman Foundation in Los Angeles, actress Hayden Panettiere walked the red carpet with pin straight hair and wispy fringe. It's nice to see her supporting a cause that we know she's passionate about, and I love it when celebrities use their status to do good. This fringe is a new style on the young starlet who typically wears her hair up, or with some volume at the top.

The face of an actress is the vehicle for a world of emotion, nuance, and communication, yet so many celebrities turn to injections, hormones or the knife in order to appear younger and more marketable. We love that serious actresses like Helen Mirren, Judi Dench, and Vanessa Redgrave remain looking more like themselves and more like us, frankly.
