Ever since I heard about Adam, which premiered at Sundance this year, I've been dying to see a preview for it — and now it's finally here! This sweet-looking romance stars Hugh Dancy and Rose Byrne (Damages) as two twentysomethings who live in the same apartment complex. They become interested in each other and might be on the path to love if not for one little thing: Adam (Dancy) suffers from Asperger's syndrome, which means he has trouble navigating dating and other social situations.

While I won't be heading to the 2009 Sundance Film Festival this year, I will be sorting through the humongous pile of festival entries to share with you some of the films I think look most promising. From quirky documentaries (like Chris Rock's) to talented young filmmaker debuts to a potential runaway hit, Sundance is filled with entertainment possibilities. Here are today's selections:
Adam
Boy, do I love me some Hugh Dancy and I've been waiting for this actor to land a juicy, leading role.

You can rarely accuse a romantic comedy of being original, and the set up for Leap Year is no different. Amy Adams stars as Anna, a woman who's waiting for her boyfriend (Adam Scott) to propose when she learns that according to Irish tradition, women are "allowed" to propose to men on February 29, leap day. She chases him to Dublin and when she's diverted to Wales, meets a handsome stranger (Matthew Goode) who makes her rethink her scheme and relationship.

Sometimes I forget that So You Think You Can Dance's Adam Shankman is also heavily involved in the movie biz — he directed 2007's remake Hairspray and recently produced 17 Again. Now the booty shakin' judge just scored a deal to direct and choreograph another movie musical, the Broadway hit Rock of Ages.
The stage show debuted in 2006 and revolves around the hits of '80s glam/hair/metal rock bands.

Funny People is a new movie with a fab cast that includes Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen, Leslie Mann, Eric Bana, Jonah Hill and Jason Schwartzman. The Judd Apatow film comes out in the UK on August 28, and is about a comedian (Adam) who learns he's terminally ill, and becomes friends with and mentors a younger comedian (Seth). Despite the seemingly sad subject matter, it's definitely a comedy movie — so check out the trailer and let me know what you think!

We've seen the photos, but finally we get our first proper look at Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes in this trailer, and it looks like a lot of fun! Robert Downey Jr stars as the British detective, with Jude Law as his right hand man Watson, plus Rachel McAdams as the sassy Irene Adler. From the trailer, Guy's movie seems to promise plenty of action, a lot of laughs, and Robert Downey Jr handcuffed naked to a bed, so I've added it to my must-see list when it comes out on December 26!

Emily Blunt looked glowing as she attended a premiere screening of her new movie Sunshine Cleaning in New York last night. My girl BellaUK wants to know if you prefer her hair straight as she wore it last night or wavy? She stars in the indie film alongside Oscar nominee Amy Adams, and they play two sisters who work as a biohazard removal/crime scene clean-up service.

It's Tuesday, so you know what that means — new DVD releases just in time for the Thanksgiving break! I've already shared some fresh music picks, but here are three movies to add to your Netflix queue for the weekend.
Funny People
Adam Sandler plays a comedian who tries to turn his life around and befriend a past love (Leslie Mann) after being diagnosed with a blood disorder; Seth Rogen steps in as his idealistic assistant.

Well, I guess Adam Sandler is ready to go back to his old tricks after playing it straight in Funny People: the actor has signed on to play both Jack and Jill in the upcoming romantic comedy called — you guessed it — Jack and Jill. The movie will be produced by Sandler's company, Happy Madison.
The image of Adam Sandler as a woman is already giving me a bad taste in my mouth about this project.
