Sugar Editorial Picks

With the weather getting warmer and the days getting longer, I've got Summer travel on the brain. For me, travel often means sitting for hours on a plane, reading a book, or getting sucked into whatever movie is playing over the airplane's system. (Hey, next time I'm stuck on the tarmac, maybe I'll try Twittering with customer service like our Cotorture girls did!)
Now, some airlines have options for purchasing movies on flights, but when I asked you about it, most of you said you weren't sure you'd be buying.

Last week, I challenged you to tell me some of the best airplane movies that have kept you entertained on long trips. Sounds like a few of you have had some good in-flight watching recently! Here were a few of my favorite picks:
Titanic
Bookmarked by tdamji, who wrote: "Not only is this 3 hour+ movie great for in-flight-movie-watching due to the great musical score and romantic qualities which can easily transport anyone to another time and place, but it brings back memories for me because I remember watching it during the 8 hour flight to England, my first overseas trip, which was my high school graduation present in 1998."

At one time or another, we've all found ourselves on a long flight, desperate for any way to kill time. That's when the airplane movie comes in. In my opinion, the best airplane movies are pure entertainment (not too much thinking necessary), and they help pass the time so quickly you're on the ground before you know it.

Bruce Willis brought his wife Emma Heming to last night's premiere of Cop Out in NYC. Tracy Morgan coordinated his red outfit with the carpet, where the guys were joined by Seann William Scott and Michelle Trachtenberg. Their costar Adam Brody was fresh from LA, though he turned up without his female traveling companion, while Kevin Smith also made it despite his recent airplane difficulties.

I've been anxiously anticipating Jason Reitman's third film, Up in the Air, from the moment I first read about the project. With George Clooney on board I was practically giddy, so imagine how excited I was to have the opportunity to talk to the director himself when he stopped in San Francisco during his promotional tour.
The film is one of the many buzz-worthy December movies, and it opens in limited release this Friday.

Now that Twilight heartthrob Robert Pattinson has taken the top spot in the annual PopSugar 100 list, it's probably time to let go of his old-as-dirt cell phone he was spotted using this week. I mean, I'm sure now that he's a bona fide superstar, the movie roles are going to be pouring in, so accepting offers and chatting with agents on what looks like a beat-up clamshell from 1999 just won't do.
Time to upgrade, Rob!

Last night I went to see a press screening of Superhero Movie, from the stable of Airplane!, The Naked Gun and the Scary Movie series.
I didn't have high hopes for this film, as spoof movies have been getting progressively worse over the past few years (Meet The Spartans anyone?), but I was actually pleasantly surprised.
It doesn't start well – in fact the first fifteen minutes are filled with bad jokes – but as I was watching I remembered that the film is certified 12A – and I think younger teens will get a good few kicks out of those minutes.
