Behind the Seams: River Island's T's For The Trust

Last night, River Island hosted an event at their Oxford Street flagship and boy do they know how to party! It was held to mark the launch of their T's for the Trust range which is a collection of t-shirts for the Princes' Trust designed by celebrities. Alesha Dixon and Pixie Lott, who have both designed pieces channeling their own style, were at the party posing in their respective creations. You can buy these pieces online now, or instores from £34.99.

Whilst at the store, I sneaked upstairs to check out the footwear and completely fell in love with a pair of lace up ankle boots (£74.99). I also found a great leopard print coat (£69.99) which is sure to keep you warm through the Winter. Hear from the stars on the red carpet here.

Katy, Alesha, GaGa, Amy and More Rock the V Festival Stage!

Superstar singers took to the stages in Chelmsford and Staffordshire for V Festival this weekend. Katy Perry, Lady GaGa and Alesha Dixon impressed on stage in their outlandish outfits. My girl FabUK has the lowdown on all the stylistas, and I've got videos of the big performances - check them out after the jump. Lily Allen took time out from the cricket to sing on stage, and musicians from both sides of the Atlantic entertained the crowds.

Brandon Flowers, Johnny Borrell, Dizzee Rascal, Mike Skinner, McFly, Natalie Imbruglia, Taylor Swift, Pixie Lott, Daniel Merriweather, James Morrison, Paolo Nutini, The Script and The Saturdays all performed. The big disappointment was Oasis were a no-show due to Liam Gallagher's viral laryngitis, but the big surprise was Amy Winehouse's appearance on stage with Pete Doherty and The Specials: you can watch her performance after the jump.

Lily Allen took to the stage at the Radio 1 Big Weekend in Swindon alongside a dressed down Fearne Cotton and a glammed up Alesha Dixon: find out how to copy Alesha's style with FabUK. Lily was banned from using naughty words in "Not Fair", and giggled as she sang "I’ve been kneading bread for hours" during her Live Lounge session. Before her set she joked about performing naked, and said: "I think everyone coming to watch should go naked. I want to see the whole crowd naked". The singer took a break from trouble making, however, to clear up reports that she lashed out at the Beckhams and Coles, tweeting: "No, I didn’t say that stuff. I’ve never met Cheryl, or her husband, nor David Beckham. Please don’t believe that rubbish."

Fearne's fellow Radio 1 DJs Chris Moyles, Edith Bowman, Zane Lowe, Pete Tong and Vernon Kay were in attendance to introduce loads of acts, including Dizzee Rascal, Snow Patrol, Kasabian, The Saturdays, Florence and the Machine, The Script, Calvin Harris, N-Dubz, The Enemy, Franz Ferdinand, Prodigy, Ladyhawke, Maximo Park and The Gossip.

Alesha Dixon "Let's Get Excited" - Spin It or Sling It?

The lovely Alesha Dixon is back with the second single from her album The Alesha Show. "Let's Get Excited" is another fast track like "The Boy Does Nothing", which the majority of you liked when I asked you about it back in October. Since then, Alesha's climbed Kilimanjaro for Comic Relief, but she's back on the dance floor strutting her stuff in this new music video. Alesha Dixon Reveals All To Cosmopolitan

August's 'Hot Secrets' issue of Cosmopolitan features Alesha Dixon looking gorgeous on the cover, and inside she dishes up some of her own secrets. She tells all about a therapeutic secret she's never revealed before as well as talking about men, her hopes for the future and the reasons she stays grounded. Here are some excerpts:

On meeting guys:“I don’t get any guys chatting me up … honestly! Well, unless they’re chatting me up and I just don’t notice. I hate being chatted up though, so I don’t mind – I’d just laugh if a guy came out with some terrible line! I’m still open to meeting someone, but I’m in no rush – I’m sure it’ll happen when it’s meant to.”
On what she's looking for: "[I like] guys who don’t pretend to be something they’re not. And I like gentlemen who have respect for women; I’m old-fashioned in that way. Looks-wise, I don’t have a type … It’s the character that usually attracts me – a certain spark.”
On her idols: “My music idol is Beyoncé and my TV idol is Oprah. I love Oprah and I want to be her. I’d love to do a show like hers.”
On what she's learned: “I’m more comfortable in my skin now than I was in my twenties, and I feel much wiser. I’m positive about the future … I used to worry about it. But I’ve learnt that worrying is a waste of energy because it doesn’t actually change anything. Now I accept things as they are and live for today, whereas before I was always looking ahead … I feel stronger because of things that have happened to me. In a weird way they’ve helped me.”

On the future: “It’s important that I keep growing and challenging myself. When I get to 70, I want to be able to look back and know I took life by the scruff of the neck and went for it. I’m never going to look back and think ‘if only’ … Plus, I believe that if something isn’t meant for you, it won’t come to you. I’ve accepted that now and, as a result, I’m changing my attitude to life.”
On her childhood: “Growing up, we didn’t have a telephone, mum didn’t drive a car and all my mates would have new clothes while I wore the same pair of jeans for two weeks … I was rich in many other ways … My ambition in life isn’t to make money; it’s to be happy and be a good person, and do things that stimulate me … I like to drive a nice car, live in a nice house and buy nice clothes, but they don’t make me who I am.”

On her friends vs work balance:

On where she'll be in 10 years: “I’ll be 40, so maybe I’ll be drowning my sorrows with a bottle of vodka! [Laughs] Only joking … I’d like to still be working but be more chilled out. I pray to God that I’ll be in a good place and that I’ll be optimistic about turning 50. And I like to think I’ll have a family.”
On her guilty pleasure: “[It's] eating chocolate in bed while watching Friends, which I’m obsessed with. I have two box sets because some of the discs get ruined after I’ve watched them too much.”
A secret she's never revealed before now: “When I don’t have time for a wax, I’ll get the tweezers out! It’s quite therapeutic.”

Alesha Confides in Cosmopolitan About Looks, Love and Life

With "The Boy Does Nothing" in the top ten, and fresh from being crowned Ultimate Confidence Queen at The Cosmopolitan Women of the Year Awards last week, Alesha Dixon is Cosmopolitan's December cover girl. She chats about the reality of beauty and her own insecurities, how she bounced back from being cheated on by her husband and dropped by her record label in the same fortnight, and what the future holds now she's 30 and looking for love. Here are the highlights:

On her early insecurities: "When I joined my old girl band, Mis-Teeq, I was so insecure. We got our first record deal when I was 22 and I remember, from that moment until the day we split up five years later, we were caked in makeup … So when it came to taking a break and being normal, I wouldn’t recognise myself in the mirror. I hated how I looked."
On the reality of beauty in the celebrity arena: "The longer I spent in the music business, the more I had to get a grip on what was real and what wasn’t. It’s great fun dressing up and having 20 people around you to make you look beautiful, but it’s not real … I did a documentary on beauty earlier this year, which I got a lot of stick for because it looked like I was slating magazines. I wasn’t – I love magazines. I was trying to raise awareness that anyone could look as good as me if they had a glam squad around them like I have today!"
On what she has learned from speaking with women about body image: "We should stop using the word ‘flaws’ – why is it a flaw to have a scar or a mole? That’s what makes you different. I’ve never been one for dieting, either. I know there are some people who’d compromise what they eat to wear a certain outfit – but I’d rather eat a nice dinner than wear a crop top."

On being cheated on by her husband and being dropped by her record label in the same fortnight: "Something inside me changed that fortnight. I lost the two things I loved most in the world, pretty much overnight, and it shook me to the core. I was lost. I hit rock bottom, and when I came back up I was a different person. I’m stronger now – I know that nothing can ever hurt me that much again … I loved being married, but the choice was taken out of my hands. People who’ve got it sussed are the ones who roll with the punches and accept that nothing is going to stay the same forever."
On how you can get your confidence back: "Never give up and never stop believing in yourself. One of my saviours was my three-year-old collie, Roxy, who I got from the RSPCA. The day I was en route to pick her up was the day I got the call from my record label telling me I’d been dropped. I was with Mum, and I just broke down; I couldn’t stop crying. When we got to the RSPCA and got out of the car, I said to my mum, ‘I’ve got to sort myself out, I can’t be in this state when I pick up the dog.’ I put on a front for Roxy. Without her, I wouldn’t have left my sofa."
On how she stays grounded and down to earth: "My mum brought me up to respect everybody as an equal. I can’t stand that, as a ‘celebrity’, you get treated better than those around you. It makes me so angry because, for example, on a video shoot it takes about 50 people to make it work – not just me. I’m no more important than the backing dancers … I’m more grounded than my friends and family!"
On what the future holds now she's 30: "My twenties were for living and learning – and I learnt a lot – and now I’m ready to put it all to good use. I feel really empowered … Now that I’m 30, I can close the door on that chapter of my life and be open to whatever else life throws at me."
On the possibility of finding love again: "I said to one of my best friends yesterday, ‘I can feel it in the air that God is going to deliver me a really nice guy’. It’s taken a while for me to even consider going into another relationship – I can’t split up with someone and be with someone else straightaway. But, let’s face it – it’s been two bloody years! … Just a plaything will do! I’m pretty busy most of the time, but now and again I stop, and that’s when I think, ‘I wish I had someone to share this with’."
"You can’t tarnish every bloke with the same brush. When Harvey cheated on me, it would have been easy to say, ‘I never want a boyfriend again.’ But I never stopped believing that there’s someone out there who deserves me – I am a good person, and I have a lot of love to give."

Alesha Dixon Dazzles With New Deal

Alesha Dixon swapped her running shoes for high heels as she unveiled the new Ford Fiesta at the motor show in London yesterday. It's not surprising Alesha looks tickled pink, as she's just signed an expanded rights deal with Asylum UK, a division of Atlantic Records, which will involve not only music but merchandise, sponsorship and brand partnership. She said: "I am over the moon with my new home, I have had an amazing journey so far, but this feels like the beginning of something really special. This moment is every artist’s dream and I will be enjoying every moment of it". It's great to see Alesha doing so well. Who's laughing now, Harvey?

Diary-Writer Alesha Dixon Dazzles at Ford Music Party

Alesha Dixon brightened up the room in her orange dress at the Ford Music: On the Move Party at The Hospital last night. Big Brother twins Sam and Amanda Marchant also wore citrus-inspired outfits to the party for the car manufacturers' musical ad campaign, which previously starred Alesha. The singer's been busy recording with T2, which reportedly annoyed Cheryl Cole as the Girls Aloud star wants the producer to help launch her solo career. Singing's not the only thing Alesha's been up to though - apparently she plans to publish her personal diaries. Watch out Harvey and Javine!
