Love It or Hate It? Alicia Keys's Grammys Look

I can't decide what to think about Alicia Keys's Grammy look. On the one hand, I love the magenta lipstick and her perfectly plucked brows-it's got a loosely modern Audrey Hepburn feel to it. On the other, the haphazard pile of hair isn't doing much for her. Overall, do you think this is a winning look for Alicia, or is it fallin' out of favor with you?

Alicia Keys showed her versatility last night at the Grammys - something that always pleases me. On the red carpet she opted for a more old-Hollywood look, then on stage she managed to be both sexy and funky. However, I can't seem to get over her cinnamon-bun hair.

Clive Gets the Grammy Party Started . . . With Whitney

Clive Davis helped kick off the Grammys with his annual pre-show party on Saturday at the Beverly Hilton in LA. The appearance of the night was, of course, Whitney Houston who looked fabulous on the red carpet and with her wardrobe change inside. The icon was joined at the party by Lindsay Lohan in seafoam green and Rihanna in a very full-coverage number. Nicole and Joel were pulling double duty coming from the LACMA party to pose with the likes of Fergie and Pete/Ashlee. Miss Carrie Underwood was there with her boyfriend Chace Crawford, but he managed to avoid the cameras. Boo that. Inside, the party-goers were treated to performances from all-star acts like Alicia Keys, the Foo Fighters, Daughtry, and Leona Lewis. At one point Akon and Will.i.am took the stage for singing and backflips. I'm sure they were all home nice and early to get a good night's sleep before last night's Grammys. Suuuure.

The Ladies of the Grammys Got the Blues

The ladies of the music world got all fancied up for the Grammys last night, but we were left feeling a bit disappointed. Rihanna looked cute as part of the blue brigade, which also included Alicia Keys and Nelly Furtado. Fergie stood out in her yellow number but we couldn't take our eyes off of Beyonce, who drew more attention with her new super blond highlights than with her sparkly dress. You guys are liking Carrie's look for the best dressed, but all in all, we were more impressed with our starlets' performances on stage than on the red carpet. Grammy Awards Trend Alert: The Moody Blues

Blue is turning out to be a major red carpet trend this season: first at the SAG Awards, and now at the Grammys. Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Nelly Furtado, Beyonce, and Corinne Bailey Rae all represent, running the spectrum from navy to royal to baby blue. Blue is a hot color right now, and it looks Fab on most people . . . I wonder if it will be making an appearance in a big way at the Oscars, too?

Grammy's 50th Kept on Going and Going and Going

Many of the ladies on the red carpet had the chance to change outfits since they performed and presented as well. In fact, during some parts of the show the beautiful boys like John Mayer and John Legend were simply background fodder to Alicia Keys and Fergie's fabulous voices. We were especially excited to see Alicia getting down in an age appropriate outfit that made her shine. Kanye's touching performance to his mother also included a shockingly obvious hint to the orchestra to stop the send off music so he could thank his mom when he won for Best Rap Album.

Tina and Beyonce shook things up in their tight hot silver numbers (Tina, you still got it but the Posh wanna-be outfit was a bit much). Carrie Underwood changed into a hot little black number with sexy boots while Rihanna kept it playful with her fun feathery dress. The most anticipated performance of the night definitely belonged to Amy Winehouse who also won big. Her mom even stood by her side while she accepted Record of the Year. Overall, the performances were great and even though this was a special Grammy year - turning 50 and all - we hope next year they can keep the show to under 3 hours. That was certainly a long one folks.

Winners Cozy Up With New Grammys in the Press Room

With the night's biggest winner Amy Winehouse stuck in London, the press room was a little quiet at last night's Grammy Awards. "Low" (low, low, low) rapper T-Pain, for one, kept it all understated with his hat and cane choices. Kanye skipped out on posing with his awards after getting a little annoyed at the show's sound people, but there were some of the evening's shining stars ready to show off their new mantel bling. Rihanna, who is obviously a little protective of her prize, wouldn't even let her co-winner Jay-Z near the thing. Carrie's an old hand at the Grammy thing, while Kid Rock didn't have any awards to pose with but cozied up with his singing partner for the evening, Keely Smith. John Mayer Comes Home to Foxwoods With Some Friends

MGM Grand opened its newest outpost at Foxwoods Resort & Casino in Connecticut on Saturday night, bringing out some big names and Grammy winners. John Mayer looks like he got another haircut between lovefests with Jennifer Aniston before taking the stage in his home state with Alicia Keys. Diddy was in the house to celebrate Diddy's Den, a VIP party set up for the event. Jenny McCarthy didn't have Jim by her side, but she looked sexy all solo on her way into enjoy the new casino. Looks like John has a new getaway spot when he decides to bring Jennifer home to see his native state, wink.

Justin's New Gig

JT was supposedly not so into American Idol a few months ago, but has now signed up to be involved with a contest kinda like AI. My Grammy Idol is a new talent competition sponsored by the Recording Academy and they're searching for hidden talent. Some very lucky contestants will even get to rehearse with JT the week before the Grammys. JT is very excited to find the next big superstar. Here's more:

Singers must submit through Yahoo! Music a 60-second video of an a cappella version of one of the following ditties by Jan. 3: Alicia Keys' "If I Ain't Got You," Faith Hill's "Breathe," Tina Turner's "What's Love Got to Do with It," Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance with Somebody," Mariah Carey's "Vision of Love," Aretha Franklin's "Respect," and, for the fellas, "Luther Vandross' "Dance with My Father" or Timberlake's own "Cry Me a River."

The entrants will be judged by a blue-ribbon committee comprised of singers, songwriters, producers and other industry VIPs. A dozen will be named Jan. 8, at which point the masses will be able to view the submissions and further vet the wannabe pop stars down to five, then three finalists. At which point they're virtually all winners-the final three contestants will all be allowed to rehearse with Timberlake in the week leading up to the 49th Annual Grammy Awards on Feb. 11.

"I'm happy to participate in this unique approach to discovering unsigned talent, but I'm only a piece of the puzzle," the FutureSex/LoveSounds singer said. "All of you contestants out there should look at this as more than just a chance to duet with me, because it's really an opportunity to begin your career as a superstar. And I'll be there to help coach you along."
