Alicia Keys recently attended a charity gala with sleek, straight tresses-a big change from the lovely curls she showed off last week. The makeup is similar in both photos, but the hair gives her two very different looks. Which style do you like more?

Since most of you weren't fans of Alicia Keys's red carpet accessories, what did you think about her performance hair later that night? Personally, I've gotta give the gal credit for always switching it up and testing out new styles. The trio featuring this songstress (alongside Queen Latifah and Kathleen Battle) was one of my favorite medleys of the night, and Alicia's slick braid stood out, too.
This look's fairly easy to re-create so grab a comb and three rubber bands, then get the instructions for yourself (or a willing pal) when you read more.

The trick to the sleek style is to first carefully part your hair into three sections and tightly pull the two side pieces out of the way with two rubber bands.
French-braid only the center section of your hair, stopping in the middle of the back of your head to secure with a rubber band. (Since the sides are out of the way, this assures you can get even parts.)
Remove the rubber bands from the side sections and pull all three together with one hair tie where the French braid ended.
Continue to braid the remaining ponytail and fasten with a rubber band.

One thing I love about Alicia Keys: She's always taking risks with her style, something that too few stars seem to do these days. Her latest look centers on a jeweled hair accessory called a tikka. They're traditionally worn for special events in India, and if you like the Bollywood look, these tikkas aren't too expensive. Do you like this style choice, or could you do without it?

The Ladies of the Grammys Got the Blues

The ladies of the music world got all fancied up for the Grammys last night, but we were left feeling a bit disappointed. Rihanna looked cute as part of the blue brigade, which also included Alicia Keys and Nelly Furtado. Fergie stood out in her yellow number but we couldn't take our eyes off of Beyonce, who drew more attention with her new super blond highlights than with her sparkly dress. You guys are liking Carrie's look for the best dressed, but all in all, we were more impressed with our starlets' performances on stage than on the red carpet. Alba and Alicia Are Awake As They Are

Jessica Alba had a busy day in NYC yesterday, stopping by TRL before bundling up to go out with Cash at night. Alicia Keys joined Jess in the MTV studio to promote her new album, As I Am, and Bella wants to know what you think of her middle-part/straight-hair look. As for Jessica, she was spreading the word about Awake, which hits theaters Nov. 30. The movie looks pretty intense, but she and Alicia were able to make light of the dark subject matter with a friendly game of Operation. Hopefully, California-native Jessica is enjoying her time in NYC, because if those Broadway rumors are true she's going to have a lot more time to enjoy the unpredictable weather.

Love It or Hate It? Alicia Keys's Grammys Look

I can't decide what to think about Alicia Keys's Grammy look. On the one hand, I love the magenta lipstick and her perfectly plucked brows-it's got a loosely modern Audrey Hepburn feel to it. On the other, the haphazard pile of hair isn't doing much for her. Overall, do you think this is a winning look for Alicia, or is it fallin' out of favor with you?
