Say What? First Lady Carla Bruni to Star in Woody Allen Film

"He asked me to be in his next film. I don’t know for what role, but I said yes. . . . I'm not an actress at all. Maybe I'll be totally horrible but I can't in my life miss an opportunity like this."

- Carla Bruni told France's Canal Plus television in an interview Monday that she agreed to star in Woody Allen's next film, which will probably be set in France. Looks like he finally found a new, above-40 muse!

What to Download: New Music Today

Time for more Tuesday entertainment! I've already shared a few new DVD releases to give your movie library a shot in the arm, but now, let's amp up your iPod. Big-name albums hit shelves today, so be sure to read up on these three. (And if you want to see your own music reviews featured on Buzz, submit them in the Music Review Group in the community!)

Fan-pleasing pop: American Idol fans rejoice: you've said that you're interested in post-AI albums, and now Kris Allen's anticipated self-titled debut is finally here. The song selections started a bit bland for me, but Allen picks up momentum with "The Truth" and the soft but moving ballad "Bring it Back." Both songs get needed oomph from orchestral accompaniment to create a sweeping sound that's sure to make Allen aficionados swoon. As for the rest of the album, it's predictable, but likable, much like the singer himself.

Why the sad face? Listening to John Mayer's latest, Battle Studies, you've got to wonder who ripped his heart out - Jessica Simpson? Jennifer Aniston? Every song is about a hurt guy who doesn't want to love again. Sensitive crooning isn't anything new to Mayer, but this time, it feels like mundane easy listening. I long for the days of "No Such Thing" when we had a more upbeat Mayer, or the Mayer who can riff on the guitar like nobody's business. But we don't really get either here. Still, it's worth noting his collaboration with Taylor Swift on "Half of My Heart," and my personal fave, "All We Ever Do Is Say Goodbye."

Diva in training: Leona Lewis burst onto the scene two years ago with "Bleeding Love," and now she returns with her sophomore follow-up to Spirit, Echo. Lewis hits the high notes - and she'll once again draw comparisons to Mariah Carey - but the lyrics don't always pack the same punch, and they often feel like recycled love musings. I was pleasantly surprised, however, to see Lewis branch out of her usual comfort zone with the dance track "Outta My Head" and "Can't Breathe," which goes heavier on the R&B. If you've seen those Precious promos, you've heard another song from the album, "Happy," but it was recently announced that Lewis will be providing the title track for the film Avatar, so listen for her voice to show up there, too.

Lily Wigs Out and Takes Another Tumble on Stage

Lily Allen performed barefoot last night at Manchester Apollo after tripping on stage in her high heels. The accident follows hot on the heels of Lily's tumble down the stairs during the Children in Need concert last week. Having stuck with her own hair and a monochrome outfit at her gig in Sheffield the night before, Lily wore a red Preen bandage dress and a two-tone wig for her concert in Manchester yesterday. Let's hope the rest of her tour goes without a hitch.

Lily's Touring Takes Her Through to 2010

After being part of the Take That reunion of sorts at last week's Children in Need gig, Lily Allen has been touring the UK. Charitable Lily auctioned a pair of her trainers off at the Mothers4Children garage sale this weekend, and the busy singer performed last night in Sheffield, wearing dark lipstick! She'll be in Manchester for the next couple of nights then travelling around the country until she finishes the UK leg at Brixton Academy on December 17. With tour dates in Australia and back in the UK with Dizzee Rascal next year, it looks like 2010 will still be busy for Lily!

Lily's Bare Faced After Joss Claims She's Not a Singer

After covering her face in inventive makeup for Halloween at the weekend, Lily Allen gave her skin a break and went for the natural look as she enjoyed dinner at the Ivy in London last night. She wasn't smiling, perhaps due to Joss Stone's comments about her. In response to Lily's stand on making internet file sharing a criminal offense, Joss says music should be shared for free whenever possible, and said Lily "needs to sell records because she's not a singer, and that's not an offense to her because I think that she knows that too." Joss also said Lily is "more of a personality than she is a singer" and added for "artist[s] like Lily ... it's about the track, their personality and their celebrity". Lily and Music Legends Honoured at Q Awards

Music stars gathered at London's Grosvenor House this afternoon for the Q Awards. Lily Allen was back in the UK after her Amsterdam gig to pick up Best Track for "The Fear" and she posed with Q Icon Marianne Faithfull. Kasabian picked up Best Album and Sophie Ellis-Bextor joined Holly Johnson to celebrate Frankie Goes To Hollywood's Classic Song win for "Relax". Other older musicians were also recognised, with Spandau Ballet named Q Idol.

Amy Winehouse showed off her new assets with Goddaughter Dionne Bromfield, and Fearne Cotton, Stereophonics' Kelly Jones and Pixie Lott were amongst the other stars who attended the ceremony, hosted by Al Murray. Winners who collected their awards included Muse, Robert Plant, Yusuf Islam and Sonic Youth. Lady GaGa wasn't there to pick up her Best Video Award, and U2 didn't travel after their California concert to collect their Q Classic Album gong. Remember to vote on FabUK and BellaUK's love it or hate it polls!

Lily's Live in Milan But Will Take a Break to Start a Label

Lily Allen performed in Milan last night as part of her latest tour, looking comfortable in her kooky style as she padded around the stage with no shoes on. Wearing her familiar tights that looks like stockings, and with a glittery dragonfly on her face, she wore a layered look in contrast to the more dressed up look she wore in Amsterdam. She has tourdates booked up until March 2010, however after those finish she has talked about taking a break and appearing in a West End show as well as setting up a record label. She said:

"I'm not retiring from music. I might retire from singing for a bit. I feel like maybe having a bit of a break from doing that and do something else for a while. I love working in music. I like to help other bands so I'm thinking about – well, we're in talks about – setting up my own label and dedicating the next couple of years to that."
