TV Tonight: America's Next Top Model and High Society
Hard to believe that it's the fourteenth cycle of America's Next Top Model, but there are many more beautiful people in the world, and it's up to Tyra to find them. The new season premieres tonight with a significant change: it'll be the last appearance of Miss J and the first of Vogue's Andre Leon Talley, who's taking over as judge (look for his saying "dreckitude" to be the next hot catchphrase). Afghanistan's Next Top Role Model?
When you think of America's Next Top Model, progressive surely isn't the first adjective that comes to mind. But, the Kabul-edition called Afghan Model, is in fact, a groundbreaking — and dangerous — brand of entertainment in a country that doesn't even have a word for "model" in either of its two main languages.
Not surprisingly, the search for Afghanistan's next (first?) top model is on a new network with a reputation for challenging the country's conservative status quo — so it's not all smizing through burkas.

Can you believe it's that time again? The 14th cycle (count 'em — 14!) of America's Next Top Model is fast-approaching on March 10, and we're already getting a sneak peek at the young women who will be vying for the title. Last season's contestants will be hard to top — I can't imagine anyone being quite as charming to watch as Laura — but a few in the bunch are snagging my attention (even though I'm not quite sure why they've dressed them up like Lady Gaga/'80s Barbie).
