2009 Fall Couture: Giorgio Armani Prive

Giorgio Armani's Couture collection exuded wild, intricate details and I loved it all. For Fall, the mastermind experimented with three elements: modernity, rocker chic, and sophisticated tailoring. The results? A smashing lineup of decadent paliette pantsuits, satin frocks, zebra-print blazers, beaded skirts, and velvet aplenty. I love how he mixed together different textiles for maximum interest and texture - my favorite has to be this multimarvelous skirt suit. Fab-u-lous. Beaded and sequined headgear lent a vintage, flapper vibe to the collection while zipper and fur embellishments added a youthful touch. It's risky mixing together so many different textures and elements, but Armani once again proved his cunning capability.

2009 Spring Couture: Armani Privé

Spring couture week kicked off yesterday in Paris with a beautiful Dior show by John Galliano. Giorgio Armani continued the season with his own economy defying collection. Much like Galliano, who referenced the golden age of couture, Armani looked to the thirties for influence referencing another time when glamour outshone financial difficulties. There were plenty of red carpet pleasers (expect to spot them at next month's Oscars) including this beautiful one-shouldered red dress. He also drew inspiration from East Asian culture, which could be related to China's growing status in the luxury empire. Armani himself described China as "a dream" and denied that their economic positioning influenced him at all.

The Italian designer used luxurious silks adorned with tassles, pointy shoulders and plenty of appliqué. There were glossy elements with wetlook trousers teamed with jackets similar to a martial arts outfit.

Long time fan of Armani, Glenn Close, attended the show and described the collection as "extraordinary." Adding that she was, "Stunned (by) the pure creativity of it, the whimsy, the fantasy, the shapes." Other celebrities in attendance included Prince Albert of Monaco’s girlfriend, swimmer Charlene Wittstock and actors Claudia Cardinale and Kirsten Lea.

2009 Spring Couture: Giorgio Armani Privé

Take Asian-inspired gear, give it a good tug and a shake, and you get Giorgio Armani Privé Spring couture. But it's far more complicated than it sounds. Let's break it down. If you're into shoulder love, then this collection will speak to you. Whether on gowns or suits, prominent shoulders took center stage and added a theatrical edge. Another standout: flipping. Suit jackets, skirts, and pants all featured whimsical flips, whether on cuffs or hemlines.

Armani splashed in certain bold-colored items to spice things up. Vivid purples, yellows, and reds all demanded attention, especially next to the rest of the blacks and neutrals. A few moody florals crept in, as did sequins and ruffles. All in all, yet another stellar collection, one that transports you to an exotic world . . .

Spring 2008 Couture: Armani Privé

Yet again, Mr. Giorgio Armani presented a drama-filled collection that his best costumer, Cate Blanchett, can easily fall in love with.

Armani Privé came in the form of oversized ruffles, poufy bubble hems, large stand-up collars, fuzzy feathers, overly tiered skirts, and lots of embellishments. And though the designer isn't usually one to overdo accessories, this collection was an exception. Chunky bangles, big clutches, beaded necklaces, and jeweled belts added to the theatrics of the show. I'm looking forward to seeing the Armani Privé runway translated onto the red carpet.

2008 Fall Couture: Giorgio Armani

Can I steal Mr. Armani and bring him home as my personal dressmaker? Once again, the man has worked his magic and the result is an exquisite, finely tailored couture collection that flawlessly blends menswear with femininity. For me, this fusion never gets old. I presume muse Cate Blanchett will look beautiful in all of these designs.

To highlight the more masculine, Armani's high-waisted trousers sheen gives them a dressed up feel. Velvet pants, blazers, suspenders, and oversized, Alber Elbaz-style bow ties are also in this bunch. On the other end, femininity oozes from this collection via flowy chiffon dresses, sequins, and bows. I can see this collection seamlessly melding into the scenery of The Beautiful Fall, set in 1970s Paris. It calls for a sophisticated, empowered woman, not afraid to wear the pants.

Fall 2007 Couture: Giorgio Armani Prive

Clad in Giorgio Armani Prive, an attention-loving fashionista can go from the office straight to the red carpet in an instant. By work-appropriate attire, I mean an office that demands high-fashion, high-drama and glamour to the max (think The Devil Wears Prada). That's exactly what Armani delivered this time.

Suits with tulip skirts and low necklines oozed sexy sophistication that only a confident woman can pull off. And to break up the all-black look, Armani infused a pop of color - fuchsia, bright blue, purple - to each suit.

Colorful feathers and flowers served as voluminous shawls, while tilted hats with glitter screamed "Isabella Blow!" Interesting necklines prevailed, including lower-than-low sweethearts. Some red-carpet-worthy gowns were fitted, while most were overly poofy. And of course, bouts of fuchsia and hot pink popped up on the runway in the forms of clutches, jackets and frocks.

It wouldn't be Armani if a couple menswear-inspired pieces didn't shine through. Skinny ties and black fitted suits looked like they were taken directly from David Bowie's closet.

I have to say I'm impressed that Armani pumped up the volume, the drama and the sex appeal. I guess his fans have a siren side, too!

Megan Joins Fashionistas Cate and Marion For Couture in Paris

Marion Cotillard kicked off Fall 2009 Haute Couture week in Paris yesterday at the Christian Dior show - get her beautiful makeup look here. She skipped out on today's Giorgio Armani Prive presentation, which brought out Megan Fox and longtime fan of the line Cate Blanchett. Megan headed to France from LA just yesterday amid her verbal sparring with Transformers director Michael Bay, who apparently had her audition for the role by washing his Ferrari. Rather than dwell on that, instead Megan can look forward to Jennifer's Body as she joins the ranks of the front row fashion set.

Spring Couture Trend Alert: Very Pretty Pastels

Very pretty pastels dominated the Spring Couture runways this season. Notice how this light, chalky hue is ideal for showing off intricate details and gives off a whimsical feel. Christian Dior took the bold approach and dyed silk taffeta frocks in dusty blue and peach while Elie Saab played it demure with light green and purple. My fave?
