Ashlee's New Nose

Plastic surgery in LA is so common it's like a normal person getting a manicure. The latest obvious addition to this group is Ashlee Simpson. There is no doubt she had work done but let's hope she doesn't try to deny it - we just hate that. I don't really think a nose job is a big deal, especially in Hollywood but in the Simpson case it may be causing a rift between the sisters.

Early on April 21, a source says, Ashlee, 21, arrived at the office of famed Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Raj Kanodia with her parents, Joe and Tina, for a nose job. "Afterward, her parents helped her into a waiting SUV," says the source. And as pictures taken just a week later show, the change is dramatic. "Her nose is thinner and more feminine," says NYC-based plastic surgeon and rhinoplasty specialist Dr. Geoffrey Tobias, who hasn't treated Ashlee. In other words, more like Jess'.

Nose jobs like Ashlee's leave no scarring and little bruising â€” recovery time is usually just five days. But while Ashlee may not be black-and-blue, she may feel bruised by Jess' reaction. "Jess was furious Ashlee was having her nose altered," says a source close to Jess. "She said the last thing she wants is her little sister looking just like her." Why not be flattered? "The older Ashlee gets, the more competitive the sisters have become," says the source of the once-close pair. "Jess is nervous that Ashlee's itching to muscle her way out of second place [in the Simpson family] by going from singer to actress â€” and starring in a bigger hit than The Dukes of Hazzard." For now, Jess is still the bigger star â€” but perhaps just by a nose!

Marie Claire vs Ashlee Simpson

What do you do if you are the new editor of a b-list women's magazine - you go after the celebrities. To make a statement Marie Claire is not only changing its look from the hideous bright color cover scheme, they are also expanding the letters this month to bash Ashlee Simpson. They have every right to do this since Ashlee was interviewed in last month's issue to talk about loving one's body and then going and getting a nose job. NY Times reports:

Ashlee Simpson appeared on the July cover of Marie Claire magazine extolling the virtues of appreciating one’s body as it is - then she had a nose job.

Marie Claire readers erupted in fury at what they said was Ms. Simpson’s hypocrisy and the magazine’s “cluelessness.” They wrote 1,000 letters in protest to the magazine, according to Joanna Coles, the new editor of the magazine. And she agreed with them.

In the first issue (due Aug. 15) over which she exercises full editorial control, Ms. Coles gives expanded space in the letters column to readers to vent against Ms. Simpson. Ms. Coles adds in a note: “We’re dazed and confused - and disappointed - by her choice, too!”

Sounds like an interesting reason to check out Marie Claire this month besides the fact that Maggie Gyllenhaal is making the cover look much cooler than it has in years.

Ashlee Debuts Her New Look

Ashlee showed off her new nose at the Sunfest Concert this weekend in Florida. Her nose is not the only thing looking thinner. Let's hope she doesn't get any skinnier like those other pop tarts singers LL and Duff. We also wish she would not let Ken Paves work his extensions on her but we have to admit she sure looks hot.

In addition to her new look, Ashlee is Teen People's cover girl. Too bad she didn't coordinate the nose job with her cover. Ashlee is one of Teen People's 25 of the Hottest Stars under 25.

Ashlee dishes on her man Braxton Olita to Teen People. She said she is not ready to marry young like Jessica did. She said:

"He's the yin to my yang; people call him my 'Little Buddha,' " she says. "When he comes around, everything changes. Braxton has taught me a lot."

Still, Simpson, 21, says she's not looking to follow in big sister Jessica's footsteps and get married at a young age. (Jessica was 21 when she tied the knot with Nick Lachey; they split last year.)

"I've watched Jessica go through a really hard time. Marriage is definitely not on my mind," she says. "Sometimes things don't work out the way you thought they would. I'm absolutely in love and in a committed relationship, but we live day-to-day. There's a lot of growing you do in your twenties, and I definitely want to wait until my late twenties or thirties or whenever the time is right."

Is Cameron Diaz Getting a New Nose?

Will Cameron get her nose fixed? Page Six reports:

CAMERON Diaz has had some work done. She was so impressed with the changes to Ashlee Simpson's nose, Diaz decided to trust Simpson's doctor with her own schnozz. Diaz has had a slight bump on her nose since a surfing accident last year and wanted to correct it - and sources say she recently did just that.

We know Ashlee's new nose looks great so Cameron would have a great doctor but we think she looks fabulous with her slight imperfection. Why mess with it?

Ashlee Simpson has never officially admitted to getting plastic surgery in the past, but in the latest Us Weekly she talks about her self-image and pretty much comes clean about her nose job. She said, "I think as long as people have two eyes, then you probably know the answer." It was no big secret that Ashlee had the procedure done, but now that she's being open about it, do you have more respect for her?

Can you believe this is Ashlee Simpson? She is quickly morphing into a totally different person. It's hard to argue that she hasn't had more than her nose done after seeing these pics from last night's Silver club launch in London. Anyway, her career doesn't seem to be hurting any by her ever-changing look. She's been invited to be in the 10th Anniversary performance of Chicago for one night in New York. Here's more:

The singer has wowed critics and theatre fans on the West End stage and now she has been invited to show off her skills on Broadway. She'll join other Chicago favourites like BEBE NEUWIRTH, JOEL GREY and MARCIA LEWIS for the special salute to the hit musical on 14 November (06) at the Ambassador Theatre.

Big Fergies Definitely Do Cry

Fergie looks a little too airbrushed all sexed up (surprise, surprise) for the January issue of Blender. The magazine named her woman of the year, prompting both a few tears from the Fergalicious singer and for her to open up about all sorts of things. Yeah, apparently if you get a few drinks in her, she'll talk about peeing onstage . . . and being in love with Josh Duhamel. Here are highlights:

On being named woman of the year: “I might not be the most talented person in the world. . . . I might not have the best voice. I might not be the prettiest or the best dancer. But I’ve worked very hard, and I’ve gone through humiliation. That’s why winning an award means so much more to me than it does to other people.”
On not needing to marry Josh: "We’re practically married, anyway. I’m madly in love with him. He understands how to treat a woman and give me respect. And I’m gonna miss him on tour. [Her eyes start to drip, and then she turns mean.] Here I go again. Don’t make me cry, you f*****."
On fame: “It’s like there’s one or two things the public knows about every famous person. . . . With Ashlee Simpson, everyone knows she had a nose job. With me, everyone knows I wet my pants onstage and had a crystal-meth addiction; that sucks. You have to laugh.”

While, sure, Fergs seems a little off kilter, you have to love her honesty and ability to be self-deprecating. Hell, she even talks about how much her dad hates "London Bridge." Scarlett Strikes Back at Us Weekly Cover

This week's Us Weekly makes some serious plastic surgery claims about some big Hollywood stars. Inside, real-life Dr. 90210s talk about how many actresses are going under the knife. Surgeon Raj Kanodia who worked on Jennifer Aniston, Cameron Diaz, and Ashlee Simpson (the first two saying it was for medical reasons) estimates that 60 percent of Hollywood women have done it. The story isn't sitting so well with the magazine's primary cover girl, however, and Scarlett Johansson is suing the magazine. Her rep issued this statement to OK!:

"US Weekly's cover story regarding Scarlett Johansson and its clear implication that she has had plastic or cosmetic surgery on her nose is an outrageous and defamatory fabrication lacking any conceivable basis or proof, despite vehement denials by Ms. Johansson prior to publication...Not surprisingly, US magazine cannot provide the dates when she supposedly had this surgery, who performed the surgery, or what was supposedly done - all because there simply is no truth to the story. The publication made a pathetic attempt to validate its story by using two cover photos of Scarlett that were taken years apart with obviously different make-up and lighting, and then relying on an "expert’s opinion” (based solely on looking at the two photos) on what "might" have been done. It wasn't."

Scarlett herself even assured OK! that she's never been dishonest about her natural appearance. While I'm sure that so much of Hollywood has secretly (or not) gone under the knife, it's a pretty bold way to name names. Scarlett has never been the first name to come to mind when it comes to surgery and it's understandable that she's angry, but doth the lady protest too much?
