Hair How To: Victoria Beckham Channels Audrey Hepburn

Victoria Beckham looked like she was taking inspiration from Audrey Hepburn, at the ESPY awards in LA, last night. Her oversize sunglasses, sleek Roland Mouret dress and bouffant up do, were clearly channeling Audrey in Breakfast at Tiffany's.

It's a classically show-stopping hair look, that is sophisticated and playful in equal measures. Don't ask me why, as Miss Golightly proclaimed, in the film, parce que je ne sais pas mon cher.

Here's how to: Just read more then cross your heart and kiss your elbow!

Apply a texturising spray to wet hair before you blow dry, to add grip and texture. Try Sebastian Texturiser, (£19.85).
When your hair is dry, gently backcomb your roots, to add volume.
If you have a fringe, or shorter layers at the front like Victoria, then separate these and hold with a clip for now.
Now pull the right side of your hair (from your crown to the nape of your neck) back. Pin it back along the middle of your head. The length of your hair should be hanging down.
Next, pull the left side of your hair back to meet the right side in the middle. Twist the two sections of hanging hair, together and up toward the crown of your head, to cover the line of pins.
Secure the twist to the back of your head with bobby pins. Then swirl the ends of the twist together, into a loose messy bun, and secure with more pins.
For a quick alternative, simply smooth hair high on the head into a full, plump ponytail. Fan out the hair to add volume, and clip the ends under, and secure with pins.
Unpin the shorter layers or fringe at the front, and smooth to one side. Keep the volume, like Victoria, by not pulling flat. Then secure them to the bun with pins.
Spritz your do with hairspray, such as Andrew Collinge Weightless Volume Hairspray, (£3.99).
Now buy some furniture and give the cat a name.

Bella Donna: Jacqueline Bisset

British-born actress Jacqueline Bisset first became well-known in the late 1960s for her parts in films such as Bullitt, Casino Royale, and Two For the Road, in which she starred with Audrey Hepburn. The wavy-haired actress, now 65, was initially often cast for her stunning good looks, aka "window dressing" roles. In fact, in the late 1970s, Newsweek named her "the most beautiful film actress of all time," and I'm guessing that Andrew McCarthy's character in Class would have to agree. Eventually Jacqueline was taken more seriously for her acting abilities, garnering award nominations for Golden Globes and Emmys.

More recently, she's been seen on Nip/Tuck and has made the transition from sexy screen siren to seasoned actress very successfully, as evidenced by the following statement she once made: "Character contributes to beauty. It fortifies a woman as her youth fades." To get Jacqueline's old-school look, which translates quite nicely into today's makeup palettes, it's all about the dark liner and mascara, along with a tawny blush like Benefit Dallas ($28) and a subtle, nonfussy sheer lipstick like Bare Escentuals Quick-Stick in Escentual Fig ($14). How-To: Clean Out Your Beauty Stash

I moved to a new apartment this past weekend, and let me tell you, I never want to move again. Embarrassingly, I had about six boxes filled with beauty products - much more than I could ever need. In going through the stash, I managed to trim my collection down by at least half, and the resulting lack of mess and clarity of mind is priceless. Need to get organized, too? Get my tips for creating a clutter-free beauty stash when you read more.

Become a bag lady. Take three grocery bags (or boxes) and label them donate, keep, toss.
Get the big picture. Oh no, there's stuff everywhere! Pull it all together and lay it out on a table to see what you have. If products aren't separated already, sort them into appropriate categories. For instance, I put my lip glosses, lipsticks, and lip liners in different piles.
Lose the new and unused. Go through each category and look for new, unopened, unused products that you've had for a while. Put them aside and be ready to give them away. I know, you're thinking, "Oh, but I was going to use that!" Ah, but you haven't done so yet, so put it aside. We'll go back to this later, trust.
Ditch the stuff you hardly ever use. Why did I have four turquoise eye shadows? And how many cans of hair spray does one woman need, anyway? Since I wear turquoise eye shadow once every two years, they had to go. Ditto for hair spray, since it takes me about a year to go through a can. Be honest with yourself: If you haven't used a product in more than six months, do you really need it? Nah. Put it in the toss bag.
Lose the old stuff. Embarrassingly, I had a Prescriptives lipstick from their Audrey Hepburn color collection... which came out in 1999. Gross. Trash that crud and anything like it. If it smells bad, the color is off, or the consistency has changed, into the trash it goes.
Remove the duplicates. This step was hardest for me, but it was worthwhile. You know that collection of beige eye shadows that you have? And they're all more or less the same? You don't need them all. With color cosmetics, I swatched the colors on my wrist to see which colors I liked and which were just OK. Keep what's necessary; donate or toss the rest.
Share the wealth. Remember the pile of unused products? If any of them will replace something you tossed, keep it. Otherwise, they join the donate bag. New items can be donated to women's shelters, or you can always ask friends if they'd like some of the gently used goodies.

Hair How To: Easy Sexy Beach Hair

Hair trends are one thing – from the polished dreadlocks and pirate plaits on the catwalks, to retro styles, like Victoria Beckham's Audrey Hepburn do – but what we all really crave is effortlessly sexy hair, that looks like it's naturally gorgeous – not like we've had to try too hard to re-create it.

Cue the covetable, grown-up version of beach hair. Textured, yet glossy and voluminous, it's the sort of laidback, tousled look that Kates Moss, Middleton and Beckinsale, are often snapped with. Sometimes dubbed Polished Festival Hair – think gutsy, free-spirited almost-waves and a youthful vibe.

Firstly, it's all in the proportions. Volume should be at the ends, not on the head. Aim for a triangular shape on long hair, and try and get the texture and volume in the length, instead of loading up the roots.

It's pretty much a trial and error game, depending on your hair texture, but here's some tips for getting the look: Just read more

Firstly, get a little bit of volume at the roots – otherwise it will just look odd, and too triangular. Blow dry just the roots. At the start, do this with your head upside down if you have thin hair.
Instead of using a brush, just finger comb as you blow dry, or use a wide toothed comb, to get that 'undone' texture.
Once your hair is about 70% dry, spritz it with a texture spray, such as the cult Bumble & Bumble SurfSpray, (£16). The salt, mixed with product, will give you a mussed-up, beach head look.
If you have curly hair, it's best to blow dry the hair straight, using a very large, round brush. Then, once the hair is almost dry, mix the texture spray with a little more water, and spritz hair lightly.
Now, this part depends on your hair texture – for some, leave the rest of the hair to dry naturally, and just twist a few sections around your fingers, like a bored teenager would. If your hair has a tendency to waves, this is all you'll need to do.
If your hair is very straight, or thick, then plait now, and leave to dry. Zoe Irwin, Creative Director at Headmaster's tells Harper's Bazaar, that she does this, and suggests "Running straightening irons up the plaits to give them extra texture. Let them cool, then un-braid them, and finger comb".
Alternatively, try wrapping random sections of hair, around a giant hot tong. Don't wrap all the hair though, just pick certain sections, to keep the look haphazard and textured.
The new buzz words are tousled, tangly, textured and sexily un-done. The more you twist, twirl and generally play with your hair, the better it will look.

Her hair is pulled back into a high bun with heavy, blunt-cut fringe and it looks like she made the right call since the rain is unfortunately and inevitably bound to cause frizz - the horror! Jennifer Lopez Shocked by Posh's Chop

Jennifer Lopez has been really busy recently, what with the launch of her new perfume for men and partying at Milan Fashion Week. She's also revealed that she was stunned when she first saw her friend Victoria Beckham's new hair cut.

According to rumours, Jennifer has been saying she had no idea Posh was going to go for such a drastic change. According to Marie Claire, J-Lo admitted "I was so shocked. I arranged to meet up with her the day she had it done." It seems Posh had kept her hair plans a secret. J-Lo revealed "She didn't tell me what she was doing, so I turned up and there she was with this incredibly short black hair. I was knocked out!"

Jennifer, who isn't known for making drastic style changes, particularly in terms of her hair cut and colour was obviously impressed by Victoria's daring pixie cut. She added "I told her she looked like Audrey Hepburn. I think she's such a great girl."

How to: Victoria Beckham's Pixie Crop

Victoria Beckham's new gamine crop gives her a younger, sassier look that wowed the crowds at the Marc Jacobs show. Victoria loves to experiment with her hair and this spiky style looks gorgeous on her, partly because it was tailor-made to suit her face shape and body.

Victoria's new cut is the work of celebrity hairstylist Garren who apparently chopped Audrey Hepburn's iconic crop, as well as creating short looks for the likes of Linda Evangelista and Mia Farrow.

Jacqui Weaver, Creative Director at Fish salon in Soho, London advises "The crop best suits people with good strong cheekbones and small pixie-like features. Posh pulls this cut off as she has lovely high cheekbones and it enhances her swan-like neck."

The pixie crop is also super versatile, as it can be worn sleek or spiked up. Here's some easy styling tips to re-create Victoria's look of the moment: Just read more:

Work with product to really show off the texture. A messed-up, dishevelled do generally looks younger and sexier.
Use hair wax to add definition to the pixie cut. Try Play Fish Sculpt & Define Wax, (£5.49), for extra texture.
Rub a small amount of the wax vigorously between palms and apply to damp or dry hair. Then simply finger style for a mussed-up effect.
