Over the course of two years, the self-proclaimed girly-girl was involved in practically all aspects of the perfume-making experience, from helping to select the fragrance's notes to providing input on her inaugural scent's packaging, bottle design, and name. Beauty Byte: Top 100 Beauty Money-Making Brands of 2008

I'm sure you haven't been holding your breath for this release, but if the business side of beauty has always been as intriguing to you as it has to me, I think you'll find the statistics of the top 100 beauty company earners of 2008 quite interesting. The glosses, fragrances and pick-me-up eye shadows that we buy to make ourselves look and feel better add up to some serious poundage and have made brands a full fledged fortune. In '08 alone, the cosmetics industry have scrounged together a whopping $168.21 Billion (that's roughly £105 Billion).

The U.S. ranks the highest with 33 companies on the list, followed by France with 13, Japan with 11, Italy with 10, Germany with eight, and seven in the UK. Other countries include South Korea, Switzerland, Brazil, Russia, Belgium, China, Finland, Latvia, Peru, Spain and Sweden. The sales calculated are from fragrance, skincare, sun care products, makeup, haircare, deodorant, anti-cellulite and shaving products only.

Unilever: This London company made $15.5 Billion in 2008 and is the parent company for Axe/Lynx, Impulse, Rexona/Sure, Degree, Dove, Lux, Pond’s, Suave, Sunsilk/Seda/Sedal/Hazeline, Clear and Vaseline.
Believe it or not, but The Estee Lauder Companies took a hit this year. However, they still managed to conjure up in $7.85 Billion in sales. You're all familiar with some of their brands like: Estée Lauder, Jo Malone, Aramis, Clinique, Prescriptives, Lab Series, Origins, MAC Cosmetics, Bobbi Brown, Tommy Hilfiger, Kiton, La Mer, Donna Karan, Aveda, Bumble and bumble, Darphin, Michael Kors, Sean John, Missoni, Tom Ford Beauty, Mustang, Coach, Ojon and Good Skin.

How To: Get Sienna Miller's Healthy Hollywood Glow

At last night's Los Angeles premiere of G.I. Joe: The Rise Of The Cobra, Sienna Miller positively glowed on the red carpet. Considering she recently said that she'd be happy to wear a bin bag on these last legs of her gruelling promotional tour, she sure does cleans up like a champ when the event calls for it. I love her classic and glamorous Hollywood look complete with retro waves, tanned, matte skin, lined and defined eyes and bold, red lips.

FACE: Begin with a clean, dry face. Next, apply a moisturiser and a foundation that matches your skin tone. Blend well and set the foundation with a translucent powder. Lastly, use a large fluffy brush to buff skin to a flawless finish.
EYES: Sienna's eyes are simple to achieve. Start by blending an ivory shadow from the base of your lashes all the way to your lid. Then use a light to medium brown shade in the crease for depth. Fill in brows, curl your lashes and apply two coats of black mascara. Once it's dry, line your eyes with a black, liquid liner starting from the inner corner all the way to the outer corner. Extend the line and make it just a tad thicker on the ends for a dramatic, cat-like effect.
CHEEKS: For a nice, golden glow, apply bronzer with or without shimmer to your nose, forehead, temples, jawline and blend well. Then, with a gentle hand, use a delicate, pale pink blusher on the apples of your cheeks and down the center of your nose for a touch of warmth.
LIPS: Last but not least are your lips. Since this is the feature you'll want to accentuate most, make sure they're exfoliated and moisturised. Using a lip brush, apply a deep, brick (browny-orangey) red lipstick all over. For an even more come hither effect, dab a little bit of clear high-shine gloss in the center of your lower lip.

I'm pretty picky when it comes to self tanners. I like to make it look as though I'm glowing from within and have a light bronzey tone my skin tone as opposed to pasty, white and lifeless. This means that if a tanning product even remotely streaks or makes me look yellow or orange, it gets binned immediately. I tend to go for products for fair to light skin tones that build to a natural looking tan. My favourites (along with a little input from my buddy FabSugar UK) are listed below. The two of us have been switching off between these body bronzers for the past few weeks and are finally ready to share our reviews with you!

Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer (£7.49) goes on smooth and doesn't streak. A little goes a long way too, so the tube will last you a good part of the summer. It comes in three shades fair, medium and medium/tan and has a sweet, non-offensive scent.
Dove Energy Glow Beauty Body Lotion with Self Tanner (£7.38) is heavenly to apply due to its rich consistency. The smell is one of the best as it's light and floral. Also, because it produces a natural looking tan so gradually, it's difficult to mess it up!

Lancôme Flash Bronzer Anti-Age Golden (£22.50) gives you a gorgeous looking glow, plus an even tan. The formula also includes firming and anti-ageing properties to keep your skin soft, nourished and hydrated while you tan safely without the sun.
Johnson and Johnson Holiday Skin Medium Tan Body Lotion (£6.50) generates a gradual, gentle-looking tan, when applied evenly. The only drawback is the harsh scent, so I tend only to save this one for nighttime when I'm in the privacy of my own home.
Avon Skin So Soft Ultimate Body Moisturiser Soft and Glow SPF15 (£5) is what I decided to stick with even after I finished my testing period. I adore the subtle shimmer that it leaves on my skin, and a subtle light brown colour appears after three days of use. Also, it claims to tone and firm (I haven't really noticed that), however since it also has SPF 15 in the formula, I love how it saves me one extra prep step!

How To: Get January Jones's Cocktail Chic Makeup Look

Last night at the TCA AMC cocktail reception in California, actress January Jones arrived in a cutesy black-bow frock with her hair styled in a chic coif and perfectly flawless makeup. January always looks amazing, but I like how her makeup isn't too overdone here. With some filler on her brows, a dewy base, a touch of black liner, mascara and finally a tomato red lipstick, this siren makes getting red carpet ready look as easy as pie!

Begin with a clean, well hydrated face and then apply a primer followed by a tinted moisturiser. Dab concealer under the eyes and around the nose and mouth. Blend with your ring finger and dust a loose mineral powder all over to set the look. Then, buff it out with a fluffy, dry brush so it doesn't appear to heavy.

EYES: Since eyes and lips are the centrepiece for this look, you'll want to keep the shadow simple so that you can focus on the liner and your lashes. Dust a cream powder shadow all over the lid and then use a taupey brown in the crease for definition. Use a similar brown or dark blonde colour to fill in your browns and then use a brush to ensure they are blended. Next, curl your lashes and apply one coat of black mascara. Then, using a liquid or felt-tip liner, begin to line your upper lashes at the base extending and thickening the line past the outer corners of your eyes. Follow with a touch of liner on your lower lashes, but be careful to keep it light. Next, apply false lash pieces to the outer corners of your eyes and finish with another coat of mascara.
CHEEKS: Blend a liquid luminizer to the tops of your cheekbones, on the bridge of your nose and to the center of your forehead. Then, apply a touch of baby pink blusher to the apples of your cheeks and add a hint of bronzer to your temples, chin and nose if you feel you're looking too pale or too pink.
LIPS: Lastly, line lips with red lipliner and fill them in. Blot with a tissue so that the colour isn't too deep and then using a lip brush, apply your sexy red lipstick all over. You can use a clear gloss on top if you wish, or leave the look creamy or matte. Go get 'em tiger!

Benefit Silky Finish Lipstick in Hug It Out (£12) is the pinkiest (rather than purple) shade of the bunch. The coverage is sheer, it's packaged in a slim tube and has an awesome lip-friendly slanted tip to ensure even coverage.
Estee Lauder Pure Colour Gloss Stick in Icy Glaze (£14.68) also has a slim packaging. This colour is also sheer, but has an incredible sheen even though there's only a hint of sparkle. The texture is light, smooth and I've always been a fan of the light, sweet, floral Lauder signature lip product scent - enjoy!

Celebrity Stylist Britt Bardo Turns Designer

This is how good celebrity stylist Britt Bardo (pictured at right) is: when she was just a stylist assistant, Jennifer Lopez asked her to stop assisting to be her personal stylist. It appears that Avon has also caught on to her talents.

After loving the work she did for Avon's Mark catalog, the company asked her to design a collection for them. "Watching Britt from afar, I’ve been so impressed with her aesthetic and ability to take pieces and put them together in a fresh, modern way,” said Claudia Poccia, global president of Mark. Britt Bardo Collection by Mark consists of three essential pieces: a longer-length fitted T-shirt with open neck and cap sleeves ($24), a long sweater that comes with extra long cuffs ($28), and a polyester and spandex slipdress with adjustable straps ($26). The collection will be available at meetmark.com in October. I'm there!

In a Bad Economy, The Avon Lady is Calling

When the economy tanks, what's a woman to do? For some, selling makeup is the next step. Direct sales of cosmetics and skin care are on the rise, with companies such as Avon and Mary Kay seeing a surge of new representatives as the recession continues. In March, Avon reached the largest number of reps in the company's history, and Mary Kay has 22% more consultants than it did at this time last year.

What's the draw? Flexible schedules and the potential income, as usual. "I could go and work at a local fast food restaurant and make $6.55 an hour," says laid-off worker Tammy Jonsson, adding that she can make up to 10 times that much through Mary Kay. Although she's found another full-time job, she continues to spend about 10 hours per week selling cosmetics. That might not be enough to earn a famous Pink Cadillac, but a much-needed income boost isn't a bad consolation prize.
