Avril Lavigne seems to bring out strong passions in people. Either they think she's a cool punky pop star or a cheesy wannabe-there doesn't seem to be much room for other opinions when it comes to this Canadian! But I'm curious to see if her hair and makeup are as polarizing. At the Teen Choice Awards, she slicked on the heavy black eyeliner and puffed up her pink-and-blonde hair in a quasi-bouffant. A Few Fab Words With Alayna Salter

If you haven't heard of Alayna Salter yet, you'll soon be hearing her name everywhere. The Oxford born singer has been likened to Avril Lavigne, and has many strings to her bow. She is still working hard to break in to the world of music, but is also a budding jewellery designer whose pieces have been already been snapped up by Katy Perry, Paris Hilton, Heidi Range, and Gabriella Cilmi. I caught up with her to find out about her jewellery, her style icons and her favourite sweets!

What inspired you to start creating jewellery? I've always loved fashion and I started designing outfits and jewellery to wear on stage at my gigs, people started asking me if they could buy the jewellery and Punky Allsorts was born!

Why did you chose to make it from sweets? The jewellery isnt actually made from sweets, some of the designs and colours are inspired by my favourite sweets though!

Which are your favourite sweets? I am more of a fizzy cola bottle girl!

Who were you most excited to see wearing your pieces? It's always exciting to hear about stylish young women loving the brand, Lady Gaga's outfits are mad, so it's great she's been spotted in my designs.

How do you balance being a singer/songwriter with creating jewellery? Well music and fashion go hand in hand for me so I feel privileged to be able to do both and I'm lucky to have people to run Punky Allsorts whilst I focus on my album. What’s exciting is I am featured on the brand new Sony compilation called She Rocks out next month and so people can enjoy my music alongside Britney and Girls Aloud, which is a huge honour for me!

Who are you style icons? I love cartoon Glamour - so Betty Boop mixed with Marilyn Monroe!

How would you define your style? Eclectic- it changes on a daily basis, I get bored easily so I try to look different everyday. My style is quite girlie and playful.

What one item could you not live without? I adore eyeliner, I feel naked without it!

Where are your favourite places to shop? I think Topshop is a fab highstreet store, I also love Betsy Johnson as its so me and Vivienne Westwood 'cause she's so bold.

Fab Flash: It's Judgment Time For Delebrities

As the Fall season rolls around, celebrity designers (coined by WWD as delebrities), will be judged. With stores constantly on the hunt for the hottest commodity, it comes as no surprise that Hollywood entertainers like LL Cool J, Avril Lavigne, and Rachel Bilson are eager to get a cut of the action. LL Cool J for Sears, Abbey Dawn for Kohl's by Avril Lavigne, and Rachel Bilson's Edie Rose for DKNY Jeans will soon hit stores. Like many celebrity designers, they have ventured into a risky retail game and only time will tell if they will fail or prevail.

So what do the experts predict? "With all the competition out there, I really can't see girls seeking out clothing from LL Cool J for themselves to wear. Rachel Bilson, on the other hand, is a modern classic. She has great style and girls will want to dress like her. I could see her line lasting a long time" said Lisa Chase of CelebrityEverything.com, a website for the celebrity-obsessed crowd. Chase also predicts a short run for Lavigne's line at Kohl's.

It looks like you all are over the whole celebrity designer trend but I guess we'll just have to ride it out!

Avril Happy About Her White Wedding

Ever the chameleon, Avril was decked out in the punk style that made her famous as she left a London club this week. She's got reason for celebration, too as Girlfriend, the first single off her upcoming album The Best Damn Thing is already in the top 10 of Billboard's Hot 100. Lately though, it feels like we've seen more glam Avril than punk Avril, especially at her extremely white wedding last year. In April's Jane she talks about what went into that decision:

"I wanted to be like, 'Oh, let's totally have a rock 'n' roll, goth wedding,' " Lavigne tells Jane. "But at the same time I was like, 'I've been dreaming about my wedding day since I was a little girl. I have to wear the white dress.' I wanted to be a princess, okay?"

Part of the appeal of a traditional wedding was its timelessness. "People thought I would have done, like, some black wedding dress, and yeah, I would have. But at the same time I was thinking about our pictures. ... I didn't want to be, like, 20 years later, 'Oh, why did I wear my hair like that? It's not cool now.'"

These days it seems like Avril can switch between rock-n-roll girl and princess at the drop of a hat. We personally prefer the grown up glam Avril to the punk spitting pop tart but she's lucky since apparently her fans like her either way.

I officially declare 2008 as the year of the celebrity designer. Seriously, who didn't try their hand at fashion designing? Some granted rave reviews, others, well, you tell me. From reality stars to actresses to singers, these celebrities all had something to say about style this year. Nicole Richie offered up her affordable line of chic jewels, The Hills girl Whitney Port debuted her designing talent with Eve & A, and even LL Cool J grabbed a piece of the action with his Sears line! Celebrity Style: Diana Vickers in Ashish

I must admit that I haven't been an avid viewer of The X Factor but I have been keeping my eye on the most stylish of this season; Diana Vickers. From her big hair to her cricket jumpers to her rock chick style she's definitely made an impression on the fashion world if not the music one too. This week she took to the stage (sadly for the final time) to sing Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend" in a funky Ashish sequin shift dress (£624). She teamed it with chunky gold jewellery and black boots.

Avril Lavigne flew into the UK on Monday to begin a string of live dates on her The Best Damn Tour starting in Glasgow. Ahh, she's still wearing printed skulls on her backpack, it's nice to see her pop style hasn't changed since her marriage to Derek Whibley (Sum41... remember them?). Avril will be supported by The Jonas Brothers (who previously toured with Miley Cyrus) are three teenage brothers that are threatening to take over the world via Disney and got their start covering Busted songs. Scary.

Exclusive Fab Interview with Angelina Jolie's Stylist Jennifer Rade

Longtime stylist Jennifer Rade calls herself the Wicked Witch of Wardrobe, and I'll add to that the busiest stylist working today. I had the pleasure of meeting Jennifer a few years back at a Gap Bra Bar event for which she was the spokesperson. I recall the sassy stylist referring to Angelina Jolie, whom she works with closely, simply as Angie. In addition, she's styled music videos (Avril Lavigne, Marilyn Manson, Pink) and commercials, the most recent one being the Jovovich-Hawk for Target one. Jen took a few minutes out of her hectic day to chat with Fab about Angie, her style icons, and what every girl should carry in their purse.

What are your three favorite Angelina Jolie outfits that you've styled?

I think Oscars from 2004 (the cream Marc Bouwer), Mr. & Mrs. Smith premiere (the leather Versace), and Ocean's 13 premiere in Cannes (yellow Peter Dundas for Ungaro).

If your house was burning down and you only had time to save one clothing item, what would it be and why?

Tough question. I would probably try to grab my great grandmother's purses since they've been around so long. Really, I would save nothing other than myself, my husband, and our dogs, because clothing is replaceable.

What should every girl have in their purse in case of a fashion emergency?

Double sided fashion tape or toupee tape, like Hollywood Fashion Tape, Topstick, or Bug Catcherz. It's like the duct tape of the fashion world!

As a stylist, do you feel the pressure of always dressing uniquely?

No. I dress in a casual and classic style. Cool flats (I am obsessed with Elisa Ferare!) with great jeans (J Brand skinny, Paige boot cut, Ranahan Wide Leg) and a simple top. Maybe a cool accessory like a vintage necklace or a few stacking rings from Tiffany or Gurhan or J. Herwitt.

Who are your style icons and what do you admire so much about them?

Wow, this is so hard. Katharine Hepburn, a pioneer and so classic and timeless. Talitha Getty, just cool and bohemian. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen: I love that they do their own thing and take chances. Kate Moss because she wears clothes, they never wear her. Princess Diana, Catherine Deneuve, Diane Von Furstenberg, Sophia Loren . . . it's kind of an endless list.

Can you take me behind the scenes of the Target commercials?

I recently styled the new Jovovich-Hawk for Target commercial and it was so fun! Carmen and Milla are so funny and the clothes are awesome! I love working with Target, great company, great ad agency, and we always have a great time working together.
