Unemployed Ex-Bachelorette's Budget Wedding Planning Tips

We got to know Jen Schefft back in 2003 when she became engaged to Andrew Firestone as winner of The Bachelor's third season. After they broke up and she appeared on The Bachelorette with another unsuccessful love story, Jen met her soon-to-be husband but was laid-off from her sales job a month after he proposed. Us Weekly got the scoop from the unemployed lady-in-love about how she's planning a low-cost wedding. Here are the highlights.

The details: Instead of renting chairs and linens and ordering a cake from an outside source, they're "going with everything that comes with the venue [an Italian restaurant]," saved money by booking a DJ instead of a band, and isn't worrying about matching ribbons on the programs and invitations. She said, "Even saving $200 is saving $200."

The head-count: They're keeping the guest list to close friends and family and will end up with about 100 guests.
Saving on attire: Jen said, "You can save a lot on shoes - no one really even sees them . . . The bracelet I'll buy, but it won't be, you know, real pearls." She's also mindful of how much she's spending on the dress and explained, "I'm not going to wear a $20,000, or even a $10,000 dress. I just don't think it's worth it for one day."
Hair and makeup: She's doing her own makeup, and as for hair, she's having the girl who normally cuts her hair style it for the wedding day.

Hugh Jackman Is People's Sexiest Man Alive!

The scruffy and handsome Hugh Jackman was chosen as People's Sexiest Man Alive for 2008, perfectly lined up with the premiere of his epic Australia with Nicole Kidman. Nicole is one woman who isn't surprised by the choice, saying: "Women's jaws drop when Hugh walks into a room." Hugh talked to People about earning the title:

On his wife's response: "God bless her, she said, 'I could've told them that years ago!' And then she said, 'Obviously, Brad wasn't available this year.' And I said, 'That was a joke, right?'"
On his first girlfriend: "Martine Craswell, in kindergarten. My dad said, 'Oh, I always knew you were romantic because you were running in a race and Martine fell over and you stopped and went back and picked her up.' Chivalry was there."
On keeping the passion alive: "It's easy with my wife. She loves the idea of me coming home in costume because it makes her feel like she's having an affair in a good way. When we met, I was cast as a prisoner with tattoos and she'd say, 'Don't take your tattoos off tonight!' and I'd be like, 'All right!' But what works best with her is the stockbroker look. She also says, 'Do your sexy dance for me,' [an '80s-like, hip-swiveling number] and that works for me."

The hot Aussie has come a long way from being teased as a kid and admits that ladies love his pecs these days while showing off a very romantic side. Was the Sean Bell Verdict Justice Served?

As we reported this morning, the three New York City police officers charged in the 50-bullet shooting death of an unarmed black man, Sean Bell, have just been found innocent of all charges.

In the November 2006 incident Bell, 23, was shot along with two friends after his bachelor party at a strip club. The judge in the case cleared two officers of manslaughter and other charges and a third of reckless endangerment in the death.

Following the reading of the verdict this morning, passionate responses on both sides broke out. Some supporters of Bell stormed out of the courtroom, followed by screams in the hallway moments later. The three detectives - Gescard F. Isnora, Michael Oliver, and Marc Cooper - were escorted out of a side doorway, and outside a huge crowd gathered among a throng of police officers.

The defendants waived their right to a jury, leaving the decision to the judge. He said in his verdict, “the police response with respect to each defendant was not found to be criminal. The people have not proved beyond a reasonable doubt” that each defendant was not justified in shooting.

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said:

There are no winners in a trial like this. An innocent man lost his life, a bride lost her groom, two daughters lost their father, and a mother and a father lost their son. Judge Cooperman’s responsibility, however, was to decide the case based on the evidence presented in the courtroom. America is a nation of laws, and though not everyone will agree with the verdicts and opinions issued by the courts, we accept their authority. There will be opportunities for peaceful dissent and potentially for further legal recourse - those are the rights we enjoy in a democratic nation. We don’t expect violence or law breaking, nor is there any place for it.

George Clooney didn't let his girlfriend Sarah Larson out of his sight (or let go of her hand) for her first Oscars red carpet. She's also got her very first love it or hate it polls on Fab and Bella - big night! The couple were some of the first to arrive, though Sarah stayed mostly quiet while George did the interview rounds. While we don't know yet if Clooney will walk away with another Academy Award, it's clear the big winner here is one Miss Sarah Larson who seems to have stolen the heart of one of Hollywood's most desirable bachelors.

Justin Plays the Field With Scarlett at The Super Bowl

Just a few short weeks ago Justin Timberlake was keeping warm with Jessica Biel at Sundance. This was after initial reports that JT was getting hot with Scarlett Johansson and she may have even been the reason that Cameron and JT split. Justin loves the laid back yet active girl like Jessica but Scarlett brings more then sexy back and hell they are both winners of the Sexiest Woman Alive title. No wonder he can't decide. In Touch is reporting that Scarlett got to be JT's date at the Super Bowl this weekend. Here's more:

“They spent the whole weekend together,” an insider tells In Touch. The pair - who reportedly had a fling after she starred in his video “What Comes Around…” - met up at his bungalow in the Delano hotel at around 3:00 a.m. on February 4, a witness tells In Touch. Later that night, after the Indianapolis Colts won the championship, Justin and Scarlett were spotted at an exclusive after-party at Mokai. “They were dancing and whispering in each other’s ears,” an onlooker says. “They were having a really good time together.” At 3:30 a.m. on February 5, the pair snuck out the back door holding hands and headed back to the Delano for the night. Although Jessica is still in the picture, an insider says, “Justin and Scarlett are totally back on.”

One thing is for sure, JT is playing the field. Can't blame him. He is one of the most eligible bachelors right now. Besides, Scarlett doesn't look too worried about the whole thing. Either that or she's just distracted by all the swag she had access to in Miami! For more pics just read more

ABC Upfronts

Grey's Anatomy is doing so well for ABC that they are moving the show to Thursday nights in the fall. We enjoyed the finale although nothing really surprised us about the ending. Also, as an FYI, Chris O'Donnell is returning to the show in the fall but we're not sure how long. What does this mean? It looks like the love triangle will continue between McDreamy, Meredith and Finn.

ABC was one of the first to allow episodes to be purchased online which is brilliant. Now they are working on a way to solve the repeat issue. Now onto the new fall schedule. So what is taking Grey's Sunday night slot? How about the new Calista Flockhart, Balthazar Getty, Rachel Griffiths promising new drama called Brothers and Sisters. Also looking very interesting is the Thursday night show post-Grey's show called Six Degrees which is produced by JJ Abrams. Stay tuned for reviews later this summer as we gear up for the new season.

Six strangers living in New York City become friends after eventually meeting again through a mysterious web of happenstance and coincidence. LET'S ROB
In the wake of a co-worker's death, an aging janitor (Donal Logue) recruits a group of misfits for a heist to finance his dreams of opening a bar. The cast also includes Josh Grisetti, Maz Jobrani, Koji Kataoka, Kevin Michael Richardson, Lenny Venito, and Sofia Vergara. Mick Jagger guest stars in the pilot.

TV Tonight!

My head is about to explode as I try to plan out my evening. The Golden Globes got scared off by Desperate Housewives and moved to Monday. LAME. Lucky for us CBS is repeats and The Bachelor is totally something we can watch tomorrow. But what do we watch first, The Globes or 24 - that is the question? I can't bare watch anything in real time anyway thanks to the wonderful world of TiVo.

The worst part is living on the West Coast for this show. We get it delayed so all the news reports and sites will be blogging the answers while I try to avoid them since I actually like the element of surprise. I am pulling for the Brokeback Mountain gang to sweep the awards. I would also love to see Reese win for Walk the Line and we really hope hottie hubby is by her side tonight!

For the TV winners, I am pulling for Grey's Anatomy, Weeds and of course, 24 to win. And that brings us back to 24. Another 2 hours tonight. They really are blowing us away. Last night was so fabulous. Gawker proposes a few questions from last nights episode - my favorite two are:
