Although it takes an hour for a potato to bake, I still consider baked potatoes a quick and simple meal. Why? Because they require virtually no work.

What if I told you that baking cookies would bring you a million dollars? You probably wouldn't believe me, but it's true. This past weekend 100 finalists — all amateur bakers — competed in the 43rd Annual Pillsbury Bake-Off.

When it comes to pasta, sometimes it pays to think outside the box. This recipe isn't your grandmother's baked pasta dish. It's healthy, meatless, and not oversaturated with melted cheese.

Sometimes, when I see a recipe that sounds amazing, I print it out immediately only to have it sit there for weeks. Turns out I'm not the only one. TeamSugar member hvnly34 printed out a recipe for WhiplashGirlchild's Cheesy Triple-Onion Twice-Baked Potatoes, but took a month to make them.

You can't go wrong with a cheesy baked appetizer dish. They must be prepared in advance, are easy to make, vegetarian friendly, and crowd pleasing. What's not to like about melted cheese??

Although these legumes were traditionally cooked low and slow in the oven, today's baked beans, as they're often called, are actually cooked on top of a stove for a faster preparation that doesn't compromise flavor. Shed even more cooking time by using canned beans — or save cash by rehydrating dry beans instead. Regardless of how you prepare this dish, bacon plays a crucial part in achieving a pronounced smokiness, while molasses and dark brown sugar add a sweet flavor and pleasing caramel color.

The girls and I did a little baking this weekend and concocted a pumpkin muffin recipe that I just had to share. Using pumpkin not only gives these muffins a distinctly autumnal flavor, it keeps the muffins moist without a lot of fat. I added oatmeal for extra fiber and dark chocolate chips for a little extra zip.

When I was little there was nothing as comforting as a grilled cheese sandwich. Although I enjoyed its crisply toasted exterior and gooey melted-cheese center, what I loved most about a grilled cheese was the name. For the longest time, I thought they were called "girl cheese sandwiches," meaning that the sandwich was something so special and delicious only girls like myself got to enjoy them.

When it came time to work on this week's baking project, I promptly thought of pretzels. Molly's been bugging me all year long for soft baked pretzels, and every week I keep saying I'll do them next time. However it's her birthday this week, so I thought I would finally get around to it.

While there are some pastas, like macaroni and rigatoni, that are commonly used to make baked casserole-style dishes, other types, for example ravioli, are often overlooked.
This recipe thinks outside the baking dish by tossing store-bought ravioli with a quick homemade marinara sauce and lots of grated cheese.
The resulting meal is a crunchy, chewy, comforting mess of pasta that's sure to please the children in your life.
