Since we are always writing about the next best thing premiering on the market, we can't overlook that sometimes, some of the best colors and products are the oldies but goodies. In this installment of Back to Basics: The Best Concealers, we are going to take a trip down memory lane to show you a few of my old time favorites. I can't wait to hear what you think! Laura Mercier's Secret Camouflage Concealer, $28, has won countless beauty awards. Reason being is it totally covers up dark circles, pimples, red spots and also brightens your eyes. Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat, $38.50, will not only cover but will highlight and brighten. This magic pen has celebs, editors and anyone with dark circles hooked. Maybelline Cover Stick Concealer in Light Beige, $3.29, will cover you completely! It blends in flawlessly if you lightly dab it around your orbital bone. It's also great for covering blemishes, or any red spots. I have been using this since high school, and it's hands down my favorite concealer of all time.

When it comes to concealers, I have to admit - although I have found many I like - I have yet to find one I absolutely love. (This one comes very close.) I've already shared with you some tips on concealing under the eyes and a how-to on covering up acne. So now, please share with me your favorite pick. 2007 Sugar Awards: Best Concealer

This year's best concealer is actually an oldie but goodie. You voted Laura Mercier's Secret Camouflage foundation as your favorite. I couldn't be happier since it's a product that I've really grown to love myself.

Its best quality is that you can blend the two shades together to create your own personal match. This is especially nice since your skin tends to slightly change color through the seasons. The coverage is great and the creamy consistency is easily blendable.

In case you're wondering, Cover Girl Invisible Concealer came in second place, and judging from your comments, a lot of you favored good ol' MAC, Bobbi Brown, and Benefit cream concealers as well. Thanks for all of your participation!

The one beauty product I can't live without is concealer. I suffer from uneven skin and blazing red blemishes. Concealer is my secret weapon, my confidence booster and my savior for a healthy-looking face. I pretty much already revealed my pick for best concealer. (Philosophy, remember?) So, you had some previous knowledge of my favorite of 2008. But when it comes to concealers, what did you think?

While MAC was only a few votes behind, there's no hiding it, Bare Escentuals is the winner of the Best Concealer of 2008 poll. Its much-loved Bisque ($20) does a beautiful job concealing - and it can be used as an eyeshadow primer, too.

Doing Drugstore: Maybelline SuperStay 24hr Makeup and Concealer

For those of you that are fans of Max Factor's Lasting Performance Stay Put Makeup (RIP, old buddy), perhaps you might find somewhat of a replacement in Maybelline's new SuperStay 24hr Makeup ($10). The consistency, which lies somewhere between Revlon's ColorStay and Lasting Performance (see my comparisons here), skews more on the slightly creamy end of the spectrum, so it's quite easy to blend.

As for the wearability factor, SuperStay definitely delivers, although by the end of the day, I did have some slick spots in the t-zone. I guess that's the sacrifice you must make in order to keep the finish on the cake-free side, as this product provides semi-matte to semi-dewy results. Surprisingly, this oil-free formulation provides a light-on-the skin feel, all while giving pretty strong coverage. Speaking of bargains . . . read more.
