Every event I attended at the Food & Wine Classic this year was incredible, but my favorite meal at the Classic was the annual Best New Chefs Dinner, bar none. At a gorgeous estate in Aspen, festival-goers had a chance to sample top bites from the 10 sensations who were crowned this year's Best New Chefs. The Year's Best Fast-Food Chain

Well you voted and now the results are in: As part of our Best of 2008 coverage we asked you what your favorite fast-food restaurant is. Although there was no landslide win, the majority (24 percent) chose Subway. The popular sandwich chain has had a busy year - it's introduced flatbread sandwiches, signed on Michael Phelps as spokesman, and partnered with Starbucks.

We love the soft, doughy rolls filled with sandwich fixings, but after much deliberation, we've chosen Arby's as our editor's choice. When it comes to fast food, if fries aren't involved we're not interested. Arby's curly fries are the ultimate guilty pleasure. We love pairing them with the chain's incredible roast beef and cheddar sandwich and topping it off with creamy horseradish sauce. Do you eat at Arby's?

Food & Wine Announces 2009's Best New Chefs

It's the moment the restaurant world has been waiting for: Food & Wine just announced the winners of its annual Best New Chefs awards, which are given to the nation's most promising new chefs.

Considering previous winners have included such celebrated chefs as Tom Colicchio and David Chang, this title could mean a very bright future ahead for 10 of the nation's burgeoning chefs. To find out who they are, read more.

Food & Wine Magazine Celebrates The Best New Chefs

Yesterday I mentioned how Food & Wine magazine announced their Best New Chefs of 2007, well turns out that when you announce this kind of a list, you throw a big party to celebrate it too. Last night in Manhattan at 7 World Trade Center, past Best New Chefs, along with Top Chef winners Harold Dieterle and Ilan Hall (and I'm guessing Sam Talbot too, based on the fact that he looks like he's ready for the kitchen in this photo), prepared dishes for the new winners. The 2007 Best New Chefs will be featured in the July issue of Food & Wine.

Food & Wine's 20th Anniversary Best New Chefs Event

Food and Wine magazine celebrated the 20th anniversary of their Best New Chefs issue by naming the 2008 best new chefs and inviting 20 former best new chefs, including Daniel Boulud, Tom Colicchio, Todd English, Rick Bayless and Rocco DiSpirito, to prepare tastings at the event. Food & Wine's Best New Chefs of 2008

Yesterday we mentioned Forbes' Top 10 Up-and-Coming Celebrity Chefs, and today I'm ready to tell you about Food & Wine's Best New Chefs. The annual award was handed out to 10 of the nation's most creative new chefs, and this year's list features chefs who specialize in everything from modern Italian to completely vegetarian meals. Dana Cowin, F&W's editor in chief, said:

Food & Wine has been scouting extraordinary chefs for the past two decades, and I expect this year’s winners to make us as proud as any of the chefs who have preceded them. These great cooks come from all around America, from California to Missouri to Vermont, and I’m excited to introduce them to a national audience. They are incredible talents.

It's No Myth - Food & Wine's Best New Chefs of 2007

In today's paper, I read that one of San Franciso's chefs was named one of Food & Wine Magazine's Best New Chefs. Sean O'Brien, of Myth, joined nine other chefs in the 2007 honor. After working many years at Gary Danko, O'Brien launched Myth in 2004. Known for its stylish entrees (like rigatoni with foie gras cream), one could say that Myth is known for its romantic and dramatic atmosphere.

I personally have never eaten at Myth (although I love the mac n' cheese, homemade oreos and bag lunches at Cafe Myth - the cheaper lunchtime option), but considering this news, and the fact that Myth also made the Top 100 Bay Area Restaurants list, I have a feeling it's going to take a while to get a reservation.

2007's Best Food Cities Are...

As part of our Best of 2007 coverage we asked you what the top foodie destinations in the US and the world were.

Your favorite US food city was New York City. However, we think our hometown, San Francisco - with its hundreds of restaurants, glorious farmer's markets, and innovative mixologists - is the best. This year, the city by the bay hosted the Fancy Foods Show and had several top chefs compete on reality TV.

Outside of the US, you picked Paris as your favorite foodie destination. While we love the French capital, this year it seemed that all things Spanish ruled. Famous for its luscious seafood, ground breaking chefs, and bubbly Cavas, we're dying to spend some time eating in Barcelona!
