Awww, how cozy they look! Does this scene look familiar to you? If you share a bed with your pet, does the furry one have a fave snuggly spot? When I chatted with Bill from Greatest American Dog, he shared the sweet observation below:

I think the bond between Star and I was pretty tight when we got to California and I don't think you could make it any better. She slept in the bed with me all the time we were out there but when we got back home, Star had moved. She had always slept at the end of the bed, and now she moved up to right beside me on my side of the bed and that may be a little bit bigger bond.

Greatest American Dog Recap: My Dog Can Fly!

First puppies and now an elephant?! For last night's episode of Greatest American Dog, the remaining humans (Travis, J.D., Bill, Laurie, and Teresa) had to get their pets (Presley, Galaxy, Star, Andrew, and Leroy) to sit in a circle as an elephant approached them, made tons of noise and flapped its ears, and eventually got close enough to pick up a banana placed nearby. It came down to a faceoff between Presley and Andrew, and the smallest pooch there (Laurie's Maltese) didn't move a muscle – wow! Next, it was a course finishing in a doggie zipline – that J.D. and Galaxy made look like a piece of cake – but, unfortunately, two dogs (Star and Andrew) wouldn't take that leap. In the end, the judges chose to send Bill and Star packing which made me sad 'cause I was totally pulling for them, but happy since I got to chat with him this morning. . . . and, yes, he's just as sweet on the phone as he looks on TV:

On meeting an elephant for the first time: You remember, we've got our back towards that elephant? I'm watching Star and saying "sit, stay, sit, stay" and her eyes are getting bigger and bigger and it's like one of us has got to move, I hope she tells me when I'm supposed to move! That was thrilling to me, just thrilling.

On meeting an elephant for the second time: Although she didn't win the challenge, later we were able to go over and visit with the elephant. Star actually ended up sitting on one of the elephant's feet and it was a positive atmosphere. They didn't want dogs to be afraid of big things running at them anymore. The elephant actually took its nose and smelled all over Star and she just sat and looked at it – I asked the guy what it was doing and he said the elephant's never seen a dog like Star so he's smelling and remembering so that, the next time he sees one, he'll know what that is.

On meeting an elephant for the third time: I feel comfortable now that if there's an elephant charging down the street here in Flint, TX, Star will sit right there and watch it go by.

On preparing for the zipline challenge: I got up there and worked with her during practice time. I shook the platform and the guys up there at the top said "don't shake this," but I banged and clanged up there for Star's benefit. I knew the wind might be blowing and it might shake so I wanted her to understand that everything's good and it's fine for your feet to move underneath you.

On doing the challenge: When she got to the edge in what you saw last night, there was one point where I actually thought she was going to jump. Then she said "nah, dogs ain't supposed to fly, my boy" and I read that. She was like "I'll sit right here and you figure it out, Bubba." I saw that expression but I spent a good 10 to 15 minutes trying to get her to jump off that.

On not jumping off: I appreciate her not jumping off that ledge. She was smarter than I thought because we work in some areas where it's high-rise parking garages and, maybe she then thinks it's OK to jump off something chasing a bird? I feel comfortable knowing she did the wise thing, she was wiser than me.

Last year the tour sold for $8,600, but this year the bidding has already reached $35,000. You have to be a Microsoft employee to bid in the auction (which reportedly also includes "the world's best bologna sandwich," selling for $500), with all the proceeds benefiting charity.

Bill Clinton Has Problematic Views on Mad Men

It appears Bill Clinton has come out of retirement to put his foot in his mouth. When discussing his appreciation for Mad Men, Clinton attempted to present a balanced view about how the show depicts women. Unfortunately, it came out sounding quite embarrassing considering his reputation for putting the moves on his staff, something we see a lot on the show. Clinton said:

"The way women were treated is appalling, and only occasionally funny to me."

I think someone should tell Mr. Clinton that the "appalling" treatment of women is not supposed to be funny . . . ever. Let's just hope this was an unfortunate choice of words.

Fantastic Mr. Fox: Lives Up to Its Title

For the past five years, Wes Anderson's wide fan base has been waiting for his first fully animated film. Would his adaption of Roald Dahl's children's book, Fantastic Mr. Fox appease the same crowd that holds Bottle Rocket and The Royal Tenenbaums near and dear to their hearts? The answer is an emphatic yes, and the best news is that you don't even have to enjoy Anderson's other work to fall in love with this film.

The story follows the wily Mr. Fox, a professional robber turned family man (er, fox) who just isn't satisfied with his quiet life working as a newspaper columnist. Even a move to prime real estate isn't enough to satiate his appetite for a little trouble making, and Mr. Fox (or "Foxy" as his friends call him) decides to take on the biggest adventure of his life. That's just the tip of the iceberg though, so read more.

Mr. Fox isn't your average wild animal; in fact he's just the opposite. He lives a civilized life with his wife Felicity (Meryl Streep) and 12-year-old son, Ash, making an honest living as a newspaper columnist. Like a kid who can't sit still, Mr. Fox has trouble curbing his desires to rebel and go back to his life stealing squab and running into trouble. Against his wife's wishes, Mr. Fox convinces his dim-witted but trusty sidekick Kylie (Wally Wolodarski) to take on one last hurrah. The crime? Ripping off the three biggest (and meanest) farmers around - Boggis, Bunce and Bean. When Mr. Fox starts an all-out war, he is forced to join forces with his family, friends, and neighbors - and that's where the fun begins.

The film's brilliance lies in the fact that Fantastic Mr. Fox is a movie for grown-ups disguised as a kiddie flick. Even with Anderson's name stamped all over it, there's no denying the furry animals dressed as humans. The animation makes the plot play out like a story book come to life; we're taken deep into the fox hole and beyond in a world that looks like a dollhouse made for fuzzy creatures. Kids will love the adventure and the colors, but the witty dialogue and quirky characters are made for the grown-ups.

The movie features a crew of lovable characters who deliver hilarious one-liners when they aren't breaking into impromptu dances. There's nothing new about a movie featuring animals acting like humans, but the actors make the movie the gem that it is. Jason Schwartzman playing a crabby 12-year-old but using his regular deep voice is genius. Clooney and Bill Murray (as badger, Mr. Fox's lawyer) bantering back and forth but replacing swears with the word "cuss" never gets old (as in "This place is a cluster cuss" and "What the cuss is wrong with you?").

Rare is the animated film with this much wit, cleverness, and chemistry between characters, but Fantastic Mr. Fox hits it right on the head. Score one more for Mr. Anderson.

Buzz In: Are You Interested in Seeing Another Kill Bill?

Last week, Quentin Tarantino stoked the fire of a Kill Bill sequel when he mentioned that he'd like to start working on the third installment in the next few years.

Now he's talking more details, specifically timeline: Tarantino wants to wait until ten years after the last film ended to pick up on the story of Uma Thurman's character Beatrix Kiddo (AKA The Bride) and her daughter B.B.

It's kind of a cool concept - B.B. will be a teenager, and the idea is that Beatrix and her child have had a decade of calm, until this third film, when, clearly swords, snakes, and Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Techniques will be pulled out. I'm not totally psyched that we'll have to wait until 2014 to see the film, but Tarantino's gonna do what Tarantino's gonna do. In the meantime, what do you think - are you still interested in the Kill Bill franchise and eager to revisit the bloody story? Do you have hopes for the film or would you rather Tarantino stick with new stuff?

Happy Hour: Buffalo Bill's Pumpkin Ale

These days, my street isn't the only thing covered with pumpkins; so is my kitchen. I've been using the gourds in everything from moist pumpkin bread to chicken pumpkin stew, and so I decided it was high time I enjoyed it in ale form, too. Although it's believed early American icons like George Washington and Ben Franklin enjoyed pumpkin ales, one Bay Area craft brewhouse, Buffalo Bill's, brought the beer back into vogue when it became known for its special blend in the 1980s.The whisky-colored amber ale ($7.99 for six), which is brewed with fresh roasted pumpkins and malted barley, possesses only a delicate squash flavor, but has lingering pumpkin pie spices like cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg that become more prominent as the beer warms. Because it doesn't have a malty flavor or the bitter taste of hops, Buffalo Bill's Pumpkin a great find for people who aren't that into traditional beer. What's your favorite Fall ale?

Mr. Clooney and His Boys Look Fantastic in London

George Clooney arrived in London yesterday and was up early this morning, looking dapper in his gray suit as he headed to the Dorchester hotel. He was out for a photo call promoting The Fantastic Mr. Fox, which premieres during the city's BFI Film Festival. George smiled alongside his costar in the animated film, Bill Murray, who looked a little protective of his mug. George has been filming The American outside Rome, and he brought his Italian companion, girlfriend Elisabetta, along for the trip and out to dinner in London last night.

Hillary Clinton Offers Day With Bill

Have you gone into debt? Why not follow US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's lead and raffle off your husband (you know - the former President of the United States Bill Clinton!).

OK. So Hillary Clinton's not raffling off Bill, but Clinton supporters got an email from her former campaign adviser, James Carville, indicating that a $5 contribution would enter them into a drawing for different prizes, including the chance to spend a day with good ol' Bill. (Other, less exciting prizes, if you ask me, include tickets to the season finale of American Idol or lunch with the affable yet intense Carville.)

Mrs. Clinton owes $2.3 million from her run for the Democratic Party nomination for the presidency last year, and given her political position now, she's banned from fundraising. So what, exactly, does the day with Bill Clinton involve? Going to New York and attending "several interesting events" with him. Very intriguing!
