He's still the star of the highest grossing movie of all time, Titanic, but he also makes time for his passions in life, like the environment as well as the most important people, like his mom. B.C. (before children), birthdays are an occasion to celebrate. While they always remain so, many women are less inclined to make a big to do about the date once they have children. It's not that moms are less important or undeserving, it's often that they look forward to planning and celebrating their baby's birthday more. Not only did I forget it was my birthday last year, I forgot how old I was. Many mothers agree that the best day of their life came when they gave birth so it's no surprise that they identify with that date. Besides, most every mum I know would choose sleeping in over cake anyway.

Call it the Internets, the Interwebs, the series of tubes; yep, the Internet has gone through many lovable nicknames as the years have gone by, and today we're calling it the Birthday Boy (or girl! or whatever)!

The Internet was "born" on October 29, 1969, when two computers on a college campus connected; information, music, and celebrity sex tape distribution would never be the same again.

Where would we be without it? I wouldn't be here, for one thing. Would we all have boring desk jobs where we waited for the next printed memo to come in and to get thirsty so we could have human contact at the water cooler?

Group Therapy: Am I Being a Big Baby?

My brothers both married in the past three years, and by coincidence, their wives share the same birthday. Mine happens to be seven days later. My immediate and extended family has already fallen into the habit of celebrating all three of our birthdays together, and I don't like it. I would much rather have a nice dinner with my family on my actual birthday, as opposed to a hectic barbecue with a bunch of people I may not even consider close to me (like my sister-in-law's family, for example). Would I be totally out of line to request my own birthday celebration this year?

Birthdays: Don't Get Grumpy, Get Thoughtful

Birthdays can be very public or very personal, depending on how you feel about them. Sure, there is potential for parties, surprises, and presents, but some people would prefer to celebrate silently without being the center of attention.

Whether you're big on birthdays or not, here's an interesting exercise. Every year, devote some time to writing in a journal and reflecting on the past year. Write down new experiences and things you've learned since your last birthday. It could be anything from an eye-opening trip to a funny anecdote or new insight into yourself. Record some favorite moments and reflect on new friends made. Think about what you're thankful for.

When you're done with that, outline what you're looking forward to in the next year. Not only will it make you feel better about turning another year older, but it will also be a valuable and entertaining way to look back on annual milestones.

How Would You Pick a Birthday?

As the old Mother Goose rhyme goes,
Monday's child is fair of face.
Tuesday's child is full of grace.
Wednesday's child is full of woe.
Thursday's child has far to go.
Friday's child is loving and giving.
Saturday's child works hard for a living,
But the child who is born on the Sabbath Day
Is bonny and blithe and good and gay.

Half expecting a c–section delivery, I was worried about having to pick my child's due date. Would I want a child born "loving and giving" or "full of grace"? Luckily, she made the choice and came on her own. Parents scheduling a c–section or undergoing inducement have to choose a due date. How would you pick a date?
