2009 MTV EMA Nominations and Performers Announced!

Having already given us the shortlist for the Best UK & Ireland New Act category, MTV has now announced the full list of nominations for the 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards. Tokio Hotel, Green Day and Leona Lewis are all confirmed to perform at the ceremony in Berlin on 5 November too. Lady GaGa and Kings of Leon lead the pack with five nominations each, while several of our British and Irish stars have nominations, including Robbie Williams, Coldplay, U2, La Roux, Pixie Lott, Little Boots and Leona Lewis. You can vote for your favourites and then see all the pictures and find out gossip from backstage when we cover the awards in November. Last year's ceremony was awesome, so I'm looking forward to the the show and the red carpet this year. What do you think of the nominations? See the full list after the jump.

Robert, the Twilighters, and Britney Make a Fun Teen Choice

The Teen Choice Awards were filmed in Universal City last night, but you'll have to wait until this evening to see them on the air. If you want all the spoilers, check out the full winner list here. The show was full of fun moments and, of course, lots of artful cutaways to check in on the Twilight kids. The Jonas Brothers looked like they were having a blast hosting the big night, which began and ended with their performances. They also participated in a series of fan-chosen dares throughout the night - including Nick hugging fans and Joe getting a faux-haircut. Britney's big moment came after a sweet introduction from Miley Cyrus, but Brit didn't hang out on stage long. Her standard short thank-you-to-the-fans speech was enough, but she looked fantastic in her minidress. Speaking of showing some skin, Miley's performance of her new single involved some tiny shorts and risque moves with a pole.

The Twilight cast were skillfully moved around during the show, but ended up sitting together before they received a slew of awards. There were too many to do one by one, so the whole group went up together to accept the batch. Taylor took the lead, but Robert wasn't going to get away without talking. He joked that he was asked to stretch out the show so he rambled a bit, seeming a little more loosened up than when he took the stage with Megan Fox earlier. Other highlights included Zac Efron's effusive speech, the Black Eyed Peas', Cameron Diaz, and Ellen DeGeneres winning for her Twitter. Fergie and Her Peas Go From Idol to London With Ease

Fergie and the Black Eyed Peas emerged in London yesterday and stopped to sign autographs for fans. The other night they were in LA performing on the American Idol finale where Fergie sang her songs with the contestants and then reunited with her boys in the band - which way to you prefer Fergie as an artist? The Peas new album hits stores in June and they have lots of appearances scheduled soon so looks like the group has a busy Summer ahead of them.

There's No End in Sight For Fergie and the Peas

Fergie moved from London to Paris to continue promoting the Black Eyed Peas new album yesterday. The group's hard work is already paying off - "Boom Boom Pow" is the number one song on iTunes and most of you are already digging their second single. The E.N.D. won't be released until June 9, but it sounds like Fergie and the boys have another hit record we'll be hearing about all Summer long.

Black Eyed Peas are back with a new catchy song and accompanying video, showing Fergie's just as committed to her band as she is her many endorsement deals. "Boom Boom Pow" is the first single from the band's upcoming fifth studio album The E.N.D., which is currently due to be released in June. Come Party With Me: Mardi Gras Bash - Music

There is less then 36 hours to go until my Mardi Gras party and I believe I have everything basically under control. The invitations were sent and the RSVP texts have been vibrating on my phone all morning (why does everyone wait until the last minute to rsvp???), my house is already set into party mode, the keg will be picked up in the morning, and later today I'll start making sweet and savory appetizers. I hope that everyone comes in the mood to dance and that is why the music is a very important part of this party. The music at an event should never be overlooked (sometimes I get so caught up in the cooking I forget until the last minute!) and if you are not a super DJ, ask a trusted, musically inclined friend to help you. I took my own advice and talked to the Sugar Network's in the know resident DJ, BuzzSugar. She recommended I put at least one New Orleans/Mardi Gras inspired mix on the list and pointed me to a compilation called Louisiana Gumbo. There's also an interesting sounding CD on iTunes called Mardi Gras Party. I'll also add all of the songs from BuzzSugar's Mardi gras playlist to my mix for the night. It may be a long night so I'll need a great variety of songs.

As for my dance favorites, the new Madonna (Confessions on A Dance Floor), Justin Timberlake (FutureSex/LoveSounds), Nelly Furtado (Loose), Black Eyed Peas (Elephunk) mixed with older dance classics: Christina Aguilera's Dirty, Beyonce's Crazy In Love, 50 Cent In Da Club, Kylie Minogue's Can't Get You Out of My Head, Britney Spears' Slave, Bon Jovi's Livin on a Prayer, Stone Roses' Fool's Gold, Shakira's Hips Don't Lie and current top 40 hits: Fergie's Fergalicious, Beyonce's Irreplaceable, Gwen's Sweet Escape, KT Tunstall's Suddenly I See, and Rihanna's SOS.

China Shuts Down Jay-Z

China has dropped Jay-Z's concert this month in Shanghai. Apparently the Culture Ministry wants to protect fans from the vulgar language in his songs. His fans must be so disappointed, what a let down. Here's more:

"Some of Jay-Z's songs contain too much vulgar language," the state-run Shanghai Daily newspaper quoted Sun Yun, of promoter KS Production Co., as saying to explain the ministry's reason for refusing permission for the Oct. 23 concert.

The New York rapper's use of profanity and songs about drug dealers, pimps and violence apparently offended the culture czars, who have recently allowed other groups with sexually suggestive songs, such as The Rolling Stones and the Black Eyed Peas, to perform in Shanghai.

China may have cancelled Jay-Z, but Africa has welcomed the two with open arms. Beyonce and Jay-Z performed this weekend for Nigeria's first annual ThisDay Music Festival. More pics so read more
