Alexis Bledel Plays Dress-Up

It's hard to break out of the cutesy child actor box once you've wedged yourself into it but Post Grad star, Alexis Bledel, is up for the challenge. The 27-year-old actress and former Gillmore Girl has since moved on to embrace a more stylish and sophisticated demeanor as proven in this fun '80s-inspired photo shoot.

“I try to get away from the way people see me on the show in little ways, try to dress older or just differently,” says Bledel. “I try not to wear anything that makes me look too young because that only aggravates the idea that I’m young and sweet like my character on [Gilmore Girls].” Alexis's recent red-carpet looks had me awed but seeing her in a leather YSL unitard is an entirely different story . . .

Alexis Bledel's Navy Draped Dress: Love It or Hate It?

I'm usually a huge advocate of Alexis Bledel's unique red carpet ensembles but this particular one left me hanging. The actress wore a navy draped dress by Sachin and Babi for Ankasa, black satin sandals, and a rad studded clutch to the screening of her new Post Grad flick - can't wait to see the movie. I appreciate the avant-garde aesthetic and metallic embellishments, but I'm not a huge fan of the longer hemline and the draped pleating at the hips. Maybe it would look better cinched in with a belt? Tell me what you think!

For a quirky cute touch, the Post Grad star dressed her feet with a pair of bright orange and light gray patent leather sandals by Loeffler Randall. Of course, I love it - she stepped out of the sexy mini dress box - do you?

If you looked up the definition of "classic beauty" in the dictionary, you just might find this photo of Alexis Bledel. Instead of going for a flashy look, she's chosen to show off her milky complexion and bright eyes by going with a simple, elegant makeup look. A simple chignon goes from blah to beautiful with the addition of a braid up front. Chic and easy - but is this look playing it too safe? You tell me.

Mary-Kate and Bar Welcome Matthew Williamson to NYC

NYC's fashionistas gathered on a boat last night to celebrate Matthew Williamson's collection for H&M stateside. Last week he was in London to launch his line with Sienna and Mischa, but this time he partied alongside Mary-Kate Olsen, Adrien Brody, Alexis Bledel and model Daria Werbowy. Bar Refaeli was out as well, taking a night off from posing in her own bikini designs. Matthew's pieces went on sale in the US last week, and Fab had all the details on the madness that went down here in SF.

Penn Is an Honorary Member of Blake's Sisterhood

It was a Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants reunion in NYC last night as Blake Lively, Amber Tamblyn, and Alexis Bledel gathered for dinner at Five Points. Blake brought Penn Badgley to fill in as an honorary member of the party. The ladies have branched out with their separate projects these days, but it seems like there's still a solid camaraderie among the girls if they ever want to get together for another sequel.

Last night H&M in New York held a launch party for Matthew Williamson's Spring Collection, coaxing out celebs including Lucy Liu, Mary-Kate Olsen, Alexis Bledel and Helena Christensen. I adore Mary-Kate's indigo coverup, what a gorgeous colour! Bar Refaeli, David Schwimmer and a shorts-clad Adrien Brody also attended the launch, which took place at The Majesty. Looks like those New Yorkers can't wait to snap up Matthew's wares!

Alexis Bledel in Cutout Cushnie Et Ochs: Love It or Hate It?

No one can argue Alexis Bledel is a serious cutie. She stepped up her style at the Tribeca Film Festival in a cutout Cushnie et Ochs LBD. The cutouts are subtle enough and this look is far from tarty. Her swirly black embroidered Sergio Rossi sandals also provide a peekaboo illusion. Pulled-back hair, modern Sasha Primak jewelry, and a black clutch keep all eyes on those cutouts. What do you think - does Alexis pull it off?

Sisterhood of the Traveling Promoters

Alexis Bledel, Blake Lively, America Ferrera, and Amber Tamblyn put on their best casually cute outfits and stopped by TRL in NYC yesterday. Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 just had its big premiere a week ago, and the actresses are in full promotion mode, with a quick GMA stop also. We'll have to wait and see if they can score the same success as those other four fabulous females, but check back in to see what Buzz thought of the sequel, which hits theaters tomorrow.

This Week's Fab Favorite: Alexis Bledel

Here are some fun facts about Alexis we didn't know: her first language is Spanish, she is 5'7" (doesn't she look petite, though?), and her favorite band is Radiohead. Considering the fact that she looked smashing in a Mischen dress, Alaia heels, and a cool gold clutch at the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 premiere, atop those other fun facts, Alexis is bonafide Fab. I always thought she was adorable on Gilmore Girls - those blue eyes are amazing - but she just went up a few notches.

I like that even with a highly detailed dress she opted for eclectic accessories. The one shoulder and structure of the dress make it a stand out. You can't beat Alaia shoes - favored by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen - and her criss-cross heels are slightly naughty, totally funky. The gold clutch is futuristic looking and her diamond studs are perfection. Pulling back her hair was a good call and bright pink lips are always scrumptious. Cute, cute and more c-ute.
