Ah, the age-old question resurfaces once again. And over the next few days, as experts of music, film, art, and literature meet at the Sorbonne to discuss this phenomenon, they hope to answer just that. The conference, aptly named "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes," aims to get to the root of it.

You know the phrase "blondes have more fun"? A somewhat bizarre story at Slate tips the idea on its head. The writer observes the dominance of blonde newscasters in the news business, calling it "TV's Aryan sisterhood."

How about blondes — do they make better girlfriends? Well, yes and yes. At least that's what the results of a new survey say.

Goody Hair Care in the United Kingdom has conducted a recent survey of 3,000 women claiming that blondes spend take an average of six minutes longer to get ready than brunettes do. In fact, on average, it takes women with pale hair 72 minutes to beautify compared to the 66 minutes that it takes women with darker hair. How long does it take you to get ready?

Some people have a thing for blondes. Some people have a thing for people dressed up as mascots, animals, and cartoon characters — they're called furries. This furry Russian vixen in a baby-doll nightie struts her stuff while awful music plays in the background.

I know it's a demeaning classic, but have you ever read The Stepford Wives? The book is pretty good and a very quick read. I read it after I saw the remake movie version with Nicole Kidman, then I rented the '75 original.

I have completely fallen for the gorgeous colour palette at Proenza Schouler where tropical blues and greens were the order of the day. There were plenty of fun dresses in neon shades adorned with fringing and feathers. The bright shades were contrasted against beach blonde hair.

Blondes may stereotypically have more fun, but some studies show those born with red locks might feel more pain. So we all need to treat our ginger-headed friends more gingerly since research shows they're more sensitive to hot and cold, and strangely, redheads also require more anesthesia to become numb.
For those with brown, black, and blond hair, the Melanocortin-1 receptor (MC1R) gene produces melanin, which gives our hair and skin color.

Picnik is a cool program for editing and aggregating photos online, especially if you don't have a copy of Photoshop handy. But recently, they introduced a lady-geared suite of features called Touch Up that has options like Sunless Tan, Highlights, Teeth Whitener, Blemish Fix, and my least favorite, Insta-Thin. (Because, you know, we girls always want to be thin.)
I decided to try it because I find the whole photo-editing thing dubious; I understand that this stuff's an accepted part of our culture, but I'm just saying that I don't think it's so great for our psyches to worry about "perfection."

Her sex appeal may have garnered lots of attention, but Lana Turner, née Julia Jean Mildred Francis Turner, was more than just a pin-up girl with a femme fatale image. The well-coiffed actress, who was discovered sipping Coke at a cafe during her high school years, was often referred to as the "Sweater Girl" for her tight-fitting top in They Won't Forget, a film made early in her career.
While Lana was quite an accomplished actress and Academy Award winner, her personal life was tumultuous, to say the least.
