Last night at a Ray Ban party at the Flower Pot in Kentish Town, English singer Kate Nash debuted a brand-new bobbed haircut. Whilst her red hair is a shade more strawberry than we've seen her rock in the past, the cut is shorter and more conservative than I'm used to. Michelle Williams is currently residing in London to play the part of Roxie Hart in the theatre production of Chicago. On the left, we see her most recently with a classic Louise Brooks bob, the signature cut for the part, in the center her hair is shorter on one side than on the other and a few months ago she was pictured at MTV in New York with long, layered and two-toned hair. Happy Birthday Bob! The the blunt-cut, bob haircut is turning 100 this year. The style, which was first invented in 1909 in Paris by Antoine de Paris (whose inspiration was Joan of Arc), has reinvented itself decade after decade proving that history always repeats itself, especially when it comes to hair. 2008, in particular was a banner year for the bob. We saw celebrities wearing a multitude of takes on the bob ranging from the pageboy bob to the choppy bob, the angled bob, Louise Brooks bob and the hocus-pocus bob.

Mark Coray, VP of the National Hairdressers' Federation of Great Britain, said, "The bob has rocked through the ages with the punks, the mods, new romantics and with pop and television stars. I have been cutting hair for 25 years and not one week has passed where a bobbed hairstyle has not left the salon."

I had a bob when I was eleven. It was just below my chin and was I totally obsessed with making sure it was always perfectly curled under. It looked great, but was too high maintenance for my adolescent lifestyle. Have you ever worn your hair in a bob?

Love It or Hate It: Lily Allen's Round Bob

Last night in London, Lily Allen performed a concert at the Shepherds Bush Empire, with a brand-new, cropped and rounded bob. Her fringe is heavy in the front and the sides are layered to frame her face. Lily's been super adventurous with her hair lately, and in the past year alone we've seen her go from long and pink to shorter and choppier, to ultralong extensions and then back to short and layered again. This cut however, is quite mature and styled. What are your thoughts about this look on Lily?

2009 is turning out to be banner year for blunt cut fringe and the pageboy bob. Last year the angled bob or Posh bob (aka the pob) reigned supreme, but already this week we've noticed that Katy Perry's taken the chop and now Jessica Alba. Perhaps stars are hoping to shed some old weight from last year. For Katy is was her main squeeze and for Jess it's some baby weight, but my guess is that she just has less time to get ready this days since cutie pie Honor has arrived. It certainly looks like friend Jaime King likes the new look, what are your thoughts on Jessica's shorter hairstyle?

Same day, two very different lengths. At the grand opening celebrations for Victoria Secret's new flagship store in NYC, Heidi Klum wore her hair long and wavy for the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Later, at the cocktail reception, she sported some serious red lipstick and a trendy shoulder-length bob - aka the "lob," or long bob.Perhaps it was a little hair tucking and some pinning trickery. Or could it be possible that Klum used those ginormous bedazzled ceremony shears to chop her locks into a fashionable shoulder-grazing bob? Hmm - can't tell just yet. Regardless of how it was done, (quickie cut in-between appearances?) which look do you prefer on Klum? Are you a fan of her traditional long, model-y locks or do you like this bobbed style best?
