If You Gave Birth to a Baby Boy, Would You Have Him Circumcised?

My mom said that when I was a kid, it was pretty common to circumcise your son when he was born. Times were different back then though - my mom also said it wasn't "proper" to whip your boob out in public, so instead of breastfeeding, the nurse put ice packs on her breasts.

Nowadays, we know how important breastfeeding is to the baby's health, and circumcision - well, some people are starting to disagree with it, calling it immoral, and against the baby's wishes (you can't really ask a baby boy if he wants his foreskin removed or not!).

In the 1960s, nearly 90% of American baby boys were circumcised, and in the 1970s, that rate began to drop. In 2004, it was reported that only 57% of baby boys were circumcised. So there has been a definite decline in the amount of newborn males having this operation.

Still many parents do agree with circumcision for many reasons - some want their baby to look like their father, others are following Jewish tradition (boys are circumcised during a ceremony called a bris), and others feel that it's cleaner and may help prevent certain infections, STIs or types of cancer.

i'm a highschooler at a small private school and for the past year i've
been crushing on this guy 2 years older than me. since he's a sr and im a
sophomore, we have no classes together therefor have never been
introduced or anything to that sort. however, i'm not exactly the only one
who seems to be crushing in my friends opinions. we have this intense
intense eye contact 24/7. at the weight room after school yesterday, i
went to work out & he came in 10 minutes later. there were many situations
that made me question his motifs. for example, id go to machine 2 and hed
go to machine 3 right next to me, id go get water, hed come in a minute
later to get water. just little things like that. and whenver id look
over, hed be looking at me and awkwardly put his down to the side. he also
happens to be on of my brothers friends so i already know he knows my name
as i do his. but the thing is, although i always have these intense
intense eye catching moments w/ him and bumping into him all the time, im
wondering if its even anything to be excited about. hes also painfully shy
& apparently according to my friends, theyve never seen him do this to
anyone else. idk if im just taking this all wrong or overreacting but
would love your opinion & advice on the situation. i also sent him a
message over facebook over xmas break & he never replied so im not really
keen on the whole messaging and would rather him make the first move, but
please, advice on what to do next & asap because he graduates and leaves
to out of state college in a few months, so the clock is ticking!!! please
please please advice!! thank you soo much

Were You Ever Attracted to Bad Boys?

With her rocker eyeliner, all-black wardrobe, and perfected eye roll, Gossip Girl's Jenny Humphrey isn't exactly fitting in with the prissy kids at her prep school. It's obvious that she needs a bad boy by her side, and on last night's episode that's just what she gets.

Jenny meets up with a Belgian diplomat's son, who happens to be drug pusher. She seems turned on or at least intrigued by his rebellious side and ends up helping him with some sales. Luckily, original bad boy Chuck Bass (they know his name even in Europe) is there to save Jenny from the dangers of drugs. But now that she's had a taste of the fast life, I suspect she'll be back for more, especially since she already has the wardrobe.

Although Jenny's appearance in the episode is otherwise pointless, it did remind us that sometimes we can be attracted to bad boys - even if it's completely stupid. Have you ever had a thing for troublemakers?

Have You Ever Dated a Mama's Boy?

In a way, that's a trick question.

Although "mama's boy" has negative connotations (he was smothered or spoiled by mom), a man who was raised with love and affection by a mother with boundaries often grows up to be what the author of Raising Boys Without Men calls a "head and heart" person.

This positive version of a mama's boy, says Peggy Drexler, is in touch with his and others' emotions and knows how to communicate. (This is assuming the mother herself is connected to her emotions and is a good communicator - a big assumption.)

Have you ever dated a man who was close to his mother? Was he spoiled, expecting you to do everything dear ol' mom did? Was he smothered, one wig and a rocking chair away from being Norman Bates? Or did it help him to respect women and teach him to be connected to his feelings?

Nowhere Boy - See it or Skip it?

Aaron Johnson and Sam Taylor-Wood recently announced their engagement, and now the movie that brought them together is set to come out. Nowhere Boy is the story of John Lennon's childhood, featuring Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging's Aaron in the lead role, and directed by artist Sam Taylor-Wood. The movie's out on Christmas Day, and I can't wait to see it - but what do you think? Let me know!

Cerys Welcomes Her New Baby Boy Eight Weeks Early!

Cerys Matthews has given birth to a baby boy, eight weeks early! She and her manager / partner Steve announced the birth of their son on her website, saying:

How happy I am to let you know that our baby boy was born on Monday 23rd, eight weeks earlier than expected we are doing very well and excited now to share this happy news with you. What an amazing surprise, just after presenting Children In Need on Friday! Love always, Cerys and Steve.

The little boy is Cerys' third child, but first with Steve. Congratulations to the whole family!

Clive and Sarah-Jane Are Back on the Red Carpet

Clive Owen and his wife Sarah-Jane Fenton were in London last night for the premiere of his family-oriented new film The Boys Are Back. She seems to join Clive only for his biggest events, as we saw her last at the opening of Duplicity in March. Their girls Hannah and Eve spent the school night at home, but Clive did make it a kid-friendly evening posing alongside young costar George MacKay. Clive recently opened up to us about his preferred parenting strategies, though last night he was able to give his expert dad skills an evening off.

Selena Gomez Knows What Boys Want

I have good news for you Wizards of Waverly Place fans (you know who you are): Selena Gomez just nabbed another movie role. The cute Disney teen star is already slated to star in the upcoming film adaptation of Ramona and Beezus, but now, she just picked up a project with New Line titled What Boys Want.

What Boys Want will star Gomez as a teen who can hear what guys are thinking. (Not to generalize, but I'm guessing the answer is beer, sex, and boobs!) It sounds like a reboot of What Women Want for the teen set but I still think it'll be entertaining to watch. Plus, I'm glad to see Gomez growing into her own on the big screen, which can't be the easiest undertaking when you're competing with the unstoppable machine that is Miley Cyrus.

Clive Hops Across the Pond For the Boys in London

Clive Owen popped up in London earlier today to snap a few photos with his costars before premiering their film The Boys Are Back at the London Film Festival. Clive's been all over the globe this month promoting the film, even making an appearance in Northern California to chat with Buzz and divulge his own parenting style during a recent red carpet. Clive impressed us by being so gracious to fans and soon he'll be partnering up with Friends alum David Schwimmer for the film Trust.

Balloon Boy Sparks Hoax Theories and Loses It on TV!

Who knew that the biggest story of the week would come from a six-year-old boy who didn't come out of his attic hiding space when people were calling his name? Yesterday the country had its eyes glued to the TV to see what unfolded with the little boy supposedly floating over Colorado. It turned out, the kid was safe and sound hiding at home. When the family sat down for an interview last night, Falcon Heene (aka Balloon Boy) said he did it "for the show," but this morning, his dad denied that it was a stunt.
