Changes in breast size happen often in a woman's life. Her chest can shrink or grow when she goes on or off hormonal birth control, gains or loses weight, and when she becomes pregnant or stops breastfeeding. It's just part of the fun of being a woman I guess! I'm curious to know whether or not you're happy with your girls so tell me, when it comes to your breasts, would you rather . . .

The Procrastinator's Perfect Answer to Thanksgiving Turkey

Don't have the time or patience to cook an entire turkey? Then consider making a boneless turkey breast. It roasts for about an hour and can be filled with your favorite stuffing recipe. When the breast and stuffing are rolled together and tied, it even has a fancy sounding name that will impress your guests: turkey roulade. You'll need kitchen twine to hold the whole thing together, so don't forget to pick some up at the store. The key is to watch it carefully to ensure that it doesn't overcook. Easy Roast Turkey Breast
Original Recipe

Ingredients

1 tablespoon chopped fresh sage
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
1/4 cup (half a stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 cup of My Dad's Famous Stuffing or other stuffing recipe
1 (5-6 lb) boneless turkey breast half with skin on
kitchen twine
salt
freshly ground pepper

Directions

Preheat oven to 400°F.
In a small both combine the chopped herbs with the softened butter. Set aside.
Fill the middle of the turkey breast, where the bone would normally be with the stuffing. Spread evenly.
Fold the two sides of the turkey breast up around the stuffing and tie to close.
Place seem side down in a roasting pan. Rub all over with the herb butter and season generously with salt and pepper.
Roast for an hour. Insert a thermometer into the thickest part of the breast. When the temperature reads 165°F, the turkey is done.
Let rest for 10-15 minutes. Carve and serve with the pan juices.

Serves 8.

Move Fat From Your Booty to Your Breasts?

Breasts come in all shapes and sizes, but some women are just not happy with what nature gave them, or how experience (read: breast feeding ) and age have affected their chest. Some women opt for breast implants if they feel the need to augment their natural shape, but there's also a controversial procedure available for those who want to add just a little volume. It's kind of a two-for-one procedure that goes like this: body fat is removed from areas where it is plentiful, such as the booty or thighs, via liposuction and injected into breast tissue.

Concerns that re-planted fat could harden and calcify, making mammograms difficult to read, led to a couple of studies to investigate the issue. To learn what the studies found and how effective the injection technique is, read more.

One recent study found that no abnormalities appeared on mammograms, and it was actually easier to see breast tissue in breasts that were augmented with fat injections as compared to implants. Another study of 50 women, who had fat from their thighs injected into their breasts, found that the women's bust measurement only increased by a small amount. That means more injections would be needed in order to achieve the desired size, so overall, this procedure takes more time than surgical implants. The fat injection technique is pricier as well.

Add to the discussion the fact that doctors aren't sure how much fat is needed to enlarge breasts to the desired size. The fat needs to develop a blood supply and if it doesn't, it dies and goes away. If it does develop a blood supply, the only issue then is that when a woman gains weight, her breasts will grow, and if she loses weight, her breasts will shrink.

The bottom line is that although this procedure seems like a dream come true, it's expensive, time-consuming, and may not provide expected results. Maybe don't mess with Mother Nature, but invest in a good bra?

Would You Feed Your Child Breast Milk That's Not Yours?

Doctors always tell you that breast milk is best, but is someone else's breast milk just as good? My pal recently told me that she just gave a friend, who has a younger baby, all her frozen breast milk, since it was going to go bad before her son could consume it all. Known as liquid gold in some circles, breast milk is a valuable commodity to a nursing mama and could be even more valuable to a mother who is lacking in that department. Salma Hayek nursed a newborn that was not her own, and many mommies donate their frozen breast milk to a milk bank. In both cases, the milk benefits babies in need even if it is unusual.

Is Your Underwire Bra a Breast Cancer Risk?

Teaching at a yoga studio means I meet a lot of free-spirited folks. One student told me she stopped wearing underwire bras because she heard they can lead to breast cancer. This idea has been circling around that wearing a bra all day compresses the lymphatic system of the breast, resulting in accumulation of toxins that cause breast cancer. Just about every woman I know wears a bra, and most opt for the ones with supportive underwires, so are we all at risk?

Here are some reassuring words straight from the American Cancer Society.

"We do not know of any epidemiologic studies published in scientific journals that suggest bras directly contribute to breast cancer risk or that lymphatic compression by bras might cause breast cancer. "

Another fact to chew on. If wearing an over-the-shoulder-boulder-holder was linked to an increased risk in breast cancer, statistics would have shown a drop in breast cancer diagnoses in the 60s when most women were burning their bras and going braless. But stats didn't drop.

So wear your push-ups, underwires, demi cups, and sports bras without fear, especially if not wearing a bra is not an option for your girls.

The Case of Camp Lejeune: Breast Cancer in Men

Although the incidence of breast cancer in women is considerably higher than in men, a recent news story reminds us all that this cancer affects men too. About 2,000 men are diagnosed with breast cancer annually, so when 40 men who all lived on the Marine base Camp Lejeune at some point in their lives were diagnosed with breast cancer, one has to think environmental factors played a part in their developing the disease.

Forty former US Marines or sons of Marines, who lived at Camp Lejeune between 1960 and 1980, have all been diagnosed with the disease. One 39-year-old man diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago blames contaminated water on the Marine base for his cancer. Although government reports do show that the water there was contaminated for those three decades, the military stands by two independent reports that find no link between the tainted water and the men's illnesses. Senators from North Carolina, where Camp Lejeune is located, are investigating the issue further.

These cases remind us that only one in 10 cases of breast cancer occurs in women with a genetic predisposition for the disease. Environmental factors are real, and it's important to pay attention to chemicals in cosmetics and cleaning products.
