The Bountiful Best from Fall '10 Bridal Fashion Week

I don't foresee myself walking down the aisle anytime soon, but that won't stop me from peeping at the latest bridal fashions from Jenny Packham, Vera Wang, Reem Acra, Monique Lhuillier, and Temperley London. For Fall '10, the designers supplied us with an abundance of fabulous, frothy layers of tulles, taffeta, lace, and ruffles. However, what really caught my eye were a surprising selection of fancy short frocks and even black dresses – who dares? Check out the bountiful best from Fall '10 Bridal Fashion Week!

I don't plan on tying the knot anytime soon, but it's always fun to look. Bridal Fashion Week is underway and it's looking to be a very beautiful Fall. So far, I've seen an amazing array of gowns ranging from Reem Acra's Grecian-inspired gowns to Monique Lhuillier's glamorous frocks. Fab Flash: Economy Forces Bridal Designers to Think Bigger and Cheaper

During trying, economic times, bridal designers are forced to think creatively. On top of slashing prices, designers are cooking up new, imaginative designs to lure in the bride to be. Vera Wang, for example, reduced her price points up to 50 percent with gowns retailing at $3,600 compared to $5,500 last year. "There is a bigger challenge. You have to be creative and be sure you want to show something special,” said Carolina Herrera who came up with a unique bridal collection inspired by classic painters such as Claude Monet and Édouard Manet.

J.Crew is offering its once online exclusive bridal collection in select stores.
Alfred Angelo, a 75-year-old bridal label, launched a Recessionista collection with prices starting at $298.
To play up brides’ unique personalities, Junko Yoshioka teamed up with astrologist Susan Miller to create a collection inspired by the various astrological signs.
Monique Lhuillier designed a new bridesmaid line retailing between $250 and $390.

Katie Sparks Wedding Rumours as She Visits Bridal Wear Shop

Katie Price had a busy day in London yesterday, as she went from her management company to her solicitor's office and Radio 2's studios before hitting the shops in Soho with her mum and daughter Princess. She set tongues wagging when she visited a bridal wear shop, leading to rumours she might be planning to wed possible new boyfriend Alex Reid. She was actually trying on a bridesmaid dress for when her makeup artist and his partner renew their vows!

Love it or Hate it: Peaches Geldof at Bruno Premiere

Peaches Geldof has been in London for a few days staying at the Mayfair, before returning to New York where she currently resides. Last night she attended the Bruno premiere with her sister Pixie and friend Olivia Singer. Peaches bizarrely dressed in a bridal style ensemble with a long white dress and white floral headband. Even more bizarrely, she was matching Olivia who is rumoured to be the young socialite's latest fling. Aside from the wedding connotations, I actually quite like Peaches' frock. What do you think of her premiere ensemble?

Graduate Fashion Week: University of Westminster

There was a lot of buzz surrounding Monday evenings University of Westminster show. The theatre was packed to the rafters with people eager to see the latest names from one of the most creative universities. Last years graduate show was my favourite so I was eager to see what 2009 would offer – I was not disappointed.

The show opened with Sarah Benning's collection of muscle printed leggings and oversized knotted jackets. She used jersey knit and latex for this voluminous collection. Danielle Read caught my eye as she created an entirely black line which included strong body armour-like shapes. They were boxy and almost robotic including a pair of chaps.

In almost complete contrast, Danielle Donohoe followed this with her bridal designs in sheer white with flashes of shocking pink. She used plenty of tiers and ruggles for her creations which were contrasted against black lingerie.

There were a couple of strongly themed collections on show including Meera Stannard's road marking garments, Kitty Ng's Village People inspired looks and Fflur Owen's cattle ranch pieces.

The show came to a dramatic end as Albertine Tucknott's religious designs were shown to a red lit catwalk. The looks were produced from sheer fabric and velvet with eye-catching pointed shoulders and memorable head dresses. Much like the Kingston University show, the quality here was of an incredibly high standard. Each piece was finished immaculately and the themes were fully developed. What do you think of this show?
