Best Place and Way to Wedding Shop With Kids

An hour spent perusing fine china and glassware doesn't mix well with a mom toting tots. Sure, the easiest way to shop for breakables when you have wee ones is online, but if you're like me - sometimes you like to check out your choices before presenting the bride-to-be with her shower or wedding gift. I've long been a fan of Williams-Sonoma for quality products, how easy their stores are to navigate- especially with a stroller - and who can say no to complimentary gift wrap? But, now there's a convenience factor for mamas in a rush that has me hooked.

A few weeks ago, I was running late for my sister's bridal shower (not acceptable when you're the maid of honor!) and called my local store and asked for the goodies I'd selected on my sister's registry (which can be viewed on the store's website) to be wrapped and ready at the counter so I could swing by and pick them up on my way. All I had to do was drive over, park, dash in with my kids and pay - the entire excursion took less than ten minutes!

Fab Flash: Saks Fifth Avenue's Dismal Downturn

Saks Fifth Avenue is one of our favorite online stores, but it's been experiencing major economic woes.

In November, the luxury retailer reported “widespread weakness” with a net loss of $42.8 million. Today, the luxury retailer announced it will be closing shop on all but two of its bridal salons. The two bridal salons left standing will be the New York flagship and the Beverly Hills store. All other locations are set to close sometime next year. Saks will start marking down its bridal collections - which includes designs from the likes of Carolina Herrera, Jenny Packham, Monique Lhuillier , and Oscar de la Renta - in January - future brides take note!

On the flip side, Neiman Marcus reported a $12.9 million profit this quarter. Both retailers seem similar so we wonder why one's doing much better than the other. Care to enlighten us?

This weekend, I'm going wedding dress shopping with my bf. As her bridesmaid, it's my duty to help her find that perfect wedding dress. Come Party With Me: Bridal Brunch - The Look

Pretty pastels make for a welcoming and elegant look at a bridal shower brunch. Since people will bring gifts, designate an area away from the buffet for them to place the presents. Cover the tables with a floral printed cloth.

Serve the frittata on a round white serving platter and the smoked salmon on floral printed ones. Layer the parfait in a large trifle dish. Fill glass pitchers with citrus juice and arrange pink tumblers nearby.

Don't forget napkins and at least one bouquet of beautiful roses.

On Our Radar: Marchesa to Launch Bridal Collection

Last week Coleen McLoughlin had an eleven-hour fitting with Marchesa for her wedding dress. Coleen, who is due to get married to footballer Wayne Rooney this summer, has obviously inspired Marchesa as today it was announced that they would be launching a bridal collection. Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman has a fair amount of experience with bridal gowns as she designed her own dress for her wedding to Miramax mogul Harvey Weinstein last December.

Marchesa are set to launch a capsule wedding collection next month, with designs for Coleen's dress being kept closely under wraps. It has been reported that a team of security guards escorted Georgina from the fitting with Coleen. Knowing that Marchesa is so popular on the red carpet, we can't wait to see their bridal line.
