After holidaying with Kate Moss in Saint Tropez, and then playing a festival in Portugal, Lily Allen was showing off her glowing tan in London last night. She went out to eat at Quo Vadis, wearing a bright orange jacket and Chanel headband, with her familiar smear of sparkly eyeshadow on and around her eyes. After her fleeting visit to London, Lily's due to play a festival in Hungary today, before heading to Sweden, Norway and Finland for more live dates this week — what a busy lady!

Katy Perry is known for her daring makeup and clothing, but last night at the This Is It premiere in LA, she chose an understated look. Her eye makeup, which made her eyes look incredibly bright and clear, was especially nice. It was a smoky eye, using bright shadow instead of dark liner on the bottom, and the complementary tones looked amazing.

Designer and Project Runway judge Michael Kors is getting pretty with a new color cosmetics collection that's due in January. The makeup line, which was created in collaboration with Estée Lauder, is part of the Very Hollywood brand and is designed to be the makeup equivalent of Michael's recently released perfume. The collection comes in two palettes, a pink and a beige-coral, with complementary blushes, sheer lip "sheens," and eyeshadow kits for each.

The Internet's been abuzz with talk about cosmetic brand Illamasqua's recent launch in the US. All the excitement about such high pigment colors got me wondering, though: how bright are you willing to go with your eye shadow? Do you stick to pastels and taupes, or have you been known to rock an electric orange now and again?

It doesn't need to take 20 products to be looking your finest. It doesn't even require 10. In actuality, you can achieve a simply pretty makeup look with just a few items and some multitasking.

When it comes to makeup, I love gold, much like Austin Powers's nemesis, Goldmember. Not only does this shimmery color blend nicely with all skin tones, it helps bring a brightness to the complexion like none other. Estée Lauder's limited-edition Sensuous Gold collection features this gilded shade, accompanied by warm nudes and rose accents.

Earlier, I gave you the details on Jennifer Aniston's favorite gloss, straight from her makeup artist, Jorjee Douglass, who worked with the star on The Baster earlier this year. "I've been blessed to work with such amazing, smart, and beautiful leading ladies," said Jorjee, whose impressive list of celebrities also includes Jennifer Connelly, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Zooey Deschanel. "Zooey was so much fun to work with on 500 Days of Summer," said Jorjee.

New from Givenchy is it's Summer 2009 Le Makeup Collection inspired from a post-rainstorm on a paradise island when the golden light makes your skin glisten. The collection contains eleven items, with the star being the Glow To Wear Satiny Body Enhancer (£21.13), which basically is a liquid gel bronzer with a copper tinge that creates a shimmery tanned glow. It's scented with the new Givenchy fragrance too (Radiant Blossom) which contains notes of orange, bergamot, peony, iris, jasmine, rose, vanilla and musk.

I consider myself a risk taker when it comes to makeup choices. Not to say I'm rocking the black lipstick or emerald eyeshadow every day, but I like to sample all the colors of the rainbow – that's what they're there for, right?
Well, here's a tip I picked up from celebrity makeup artist Ashunta Sheriff: When thinking of adding a bright new shadow shade for a whole new world, pick up a cream pencil in a similar tone first and apply it thickly on your lid.
