Joshua Jackson Sets His Sights on a UFO

Looks like Joshua Jackson is ready to take his sci-fi acting experience from Fringe to the big screen. The actor will star in UFO, a film adaptation of the British TV series from the '70s. Jackson will play leading man Paul Foster, a test pilot who must protect our planet from a new race of body-snatching extraterrestrials.

As a bonus, Matthew Gratzner - the man behind Iron Man and Superman Returns - is on board for special effects, so you know Jackson's pretty face won't be the only stunning visual.

We haven't seen a whole lot of Jackson on the silver screen recently, so I'm looking forward to his triumphant return - even if alien entertainment isn't exactly my favorite genre. What do you make of this news? Are you familiar with the original TV show?

Fab Flash: Marks and Spencers in Trouble Over TV Advert

Marks and Spencer have landed in hot water this festive season over their ad campaign below. The TV advert stars many British celebrities including Twiggy, Stephen Fry and Myleene Klass, but it's the appearance of Ashes to Ashes actor Philip Glenister which has ruffled feathers. The Advertising Standards Authority is reportedly looking in to complaints over the ad which has been branded as "sexist". At one point Glenister says, "Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without that girl prancing around in her underwear," before cutting to a shot of French lingerie model Noemie Lenoir.

A spokesperson for M&S told the BBC, "We're surprised by the ASA complaints regarding Philip Glenister's appearance in our TV ad. Our research shows that his on-screen character in Ashes to Ashes is extremely popular with our customers and his lines in the ad are in keeping with that role." Do you agree with the complaints or do you think this is a case of viewers being over-sensitive?

Can Alexa Chung Save MTV?

She's cute as a button, she's quirky, she's British, but can she re-interest you in MTV? I for one haven't watched the supposed channel about music in years - OK, except for the occasional The Hills or The City episode. Aside from those guilty pleasures, I can't remember the last time I actually saw a music video or non-cheesy exploitive show. MTV's reinvention of House of Style was like Teen Vogue in technicolor - not bad - but MTV has enlisted British export Alexa Chung to infuse cool back to the once pioneering station.

The 25-year-old worked her magic on her side of the pond via modeling and TV hosting, and come June 15th she'll be delivering an hour of celebrity interviews and music performances. Chung explains, “[The premise] is I’ve just moved here and I’m trying to meet people, so I’m inviting guests to the show. The pottymouth continues to declare, “It’s about time Americans hear this s--t." She's got my attention, does she have yours?

Best Of 2008: Favourite British TV Show

This month you've been voting on all your favourites of 2008, from the best shows to your number one celebrities. I've been announcing the winners this week, and today I'm revealing who takes the crown for favourite British TV show of 2008. We've been treated to some fab series this year featuring great home-grown talent, from comedies like Gavin & Stacey to dramas like Secret Diary Of A Call Girl and the high-concept Lost In Austen. This was a tough category to call, but you chose Skins as your winner, and I have to agree! I'd like to say thank you to everyone who voted: I love finding out who you've chosen as your 2008 favourites. Stay tuned for the rest!

Do You Mainly Watch British Or American TV Shows?

British TV shows have very short seasons, for instance Lost In Austen finishes tonight after its short run, and Secret Diary Of A Call Girl's seasons are only eight episodes. In America TV seasons generally last for upwards of twenty episodes, unless the show is canceled or is a mid-season replacement. This got me thinking about my viewing habits, and wondering about yours.

Recently, with the shows mentioned above, Gavin and Stacey, Skins and others I've been watching a fair bit of homegrown TV. But generally there's a lot more American accents on my screen that British ones, perhaps because of the wealth of American imports like Lipstick Jungle, Samantha Who? and Ugly Betty on UK schedules. What about you? Do you watch more homegrown TV, or mainly imports?

Are You Interested in UK / US TV Series "Episodes"?

Matt LeBlanc is coming back to TV in a new comedy series looking behind the scenes of the television industry called Episodes. The BBC and the American channel Showtime have teamed up for the show which is about a British couple "whose hit UK show is turned into a dumbed-down American sit-com starring Matt LeBlanc" - so Matt will play himself. It certainly sounds like it could be an amusing look at the TV industry, and the set up is recognisable to every television viewer, but does it intrigue you? Tell me if you're interested, and if you have any ideas who should play the British couple I'd love to hear your suggestions!

Matt LeBlanc's career hasn't exactly been blossoming since his days as Joey Tribbiani, but Friends fans will be happy to know that he's returning to the small screen on a new Showtime comedy called Episodes. The show focuses on a British couple who find their successful show in the UK adapted into a "dumbed-down" American sitcom starring LeBlanc, which means he'll be playing himself on the show.

With popular BBC shows like The Office and Skins adapted for American audiences, the premise for Episodes is timely and sounds like it has the potential to be pretty funny. Plus, LeBlanc poking fun at himself just might be gold - are you excited to welcome him back to TV?

Paris Would Rather Be a Good Friend Than a Princess

Paris Hilton put on a party dress to celebrate the premiere of her British BFF search in London earlier this week. She might be on the hunt for a new gal pal but one thing she isn't looking for is a boyfriend overseas. Though she's supposedly flirted with him in the past, Paris denied she would ever date Prince Harry, out of respect for his ex-girlfriend Chelsy Davy. She might joke around sometimes, but it looks like Paris takes her friendships seriously.

Will You Watch Paris Hilton's British Best Friend?

Having flown in to London this week to party with the hopefuls, Paris Hilton has rounded up a dozen contestants who are all competing to become her new British BFF.
