Pop Poll: To Mime or Not To Mime?

On last night's The X Factor Britney Spears mimed her way through a performance of "Womanizer". Celebrity audience member James Corden spoke out about it on Xtra Factor last night, acknowledging the talents of the contestants in comparison to those of Britney. During his interview with Holly Willoughby, he said,

"Yeah, the song sounded great, but I've already got the CD, so I didn't need to see someone come out and mime it..."

Spears a Smoking No Show

First let's open up with this supposed pic of Britney smoking with some friends. It's from 2003 but The Superficial scored this pic and now I see what she and Kevin have in common.

Now on to the Vegas rumors. K-Fed had his party Friday night at Pure and even though Britney was reportedly going to support her man, she was no where to be seen. Turns out they had a huge fight at dinner just prior to Kevin's big event and she took off. Luxe Life reports:

A weeping Britney Spears fled from hubby Kevin Federline in full view of diners in the Nero's restaurant at Caesars Palace last night, Friday, April 21. It was just moments before he was due to walk the red carpet with her to debut his new CD appropriately titled Playing With Fire at the nearby Pure nightclub.

"It was a full blown war of words that got louder and more heated as the dinner went on" said one eyewitness. "It was a very bad night for Britney."

Another eyewitness says, "It really was huge fight."

Finally shaking and in tears, Britney fled the restaurant and raced up to her suite alone -- boycotting his performance at the nightclub.

A wall of silence was lowered around Britney Spears and Kevin Federline last night as the distraught couple hammers out their differences and try to reconcile or end their brief and muddled marriage. Neither has been seen here since their late Friday night breakup. Our weekend world-exclusive about their fight in the Nero's at Caesars Palace click here for that scoop -- came as Britneyâ€™s stud-muffin husband Kevin was moments away from a festival of fame and fortune with the listening party unveiling of his appropriately titled CD Playing with Fire at Pure. The couple got into an escalating feud over dinner. One eyewitness told me, â€œThis was a bad night for Britney. It was a full blown war of words that got louder and more heated as the dinner went on.â€?

A business friend of Kevinâ€™s told me, â€œShe wanted to be with him on his big night, and despite all the help sheâ€™s given him, he wanted to go solo so he had all the spotlight. That discussion spells disaster. He just didnâ€™t want her to become the focus of the night -- and that would be inevitable if they were together. He wanted it all to himself for once.â€?

Another eyewitness added, â€œIt got so ugly that she stood up shaking and in tears and literally ran out of the restaurant crying and up to their suite. Moments later he went onto the red carpet for photographers and TV crews as if nothing had happened. But this was an ugly one.

â€œThe business associate added, â€œFifteen minutes, later Britney called to the club to see if she could come down and was told she wasnâ€™t wanted there. Her people told the club managers that she was very upset and decided to go to bed. But we had to tell everybody she wasnâ€™t feeling well.â€?

Four-thousand club-goers were oblivious to the dramatic behind the scenes bust-up as Paris Hiltonâ€™s mom, Kathy, introduced the former back-up dancer to the fans. With 30 of his family and friends in his entourage, Kevin had DJ Logan spin his songs â€œAmericaâ€™s Most Hatedâ€? and â€œRockstarâ€? (his new single) -- in a rap-fest that had the packed room buzzing.

As if heâ€™d forgotten he had a sobbing, distressed bride upstairs, he yelled into the microphone, â€œWeâ€™re all hitting the craps tables after this. Las Vegas is my home away from home. I love it here. I love the drinks. I love the club. I love the ladies. Lets get hyped, Vegas!â€?

He was determined to have a wild time drinking Jack Daniels and Coke throughout the night until the lights were turned back on. He tore off his jacket and peach-collared shirt after midnight and stripped down to his signature white-ribbed â€œwife-beaterâ€? tank top with a white LA Raiders hat. Then he danced up his own storm on Pureâ€™s white VIP beds and asked the DJ to play TIâ€™s â€œBring â€˜Em Out.â€? Also in the VIP section with proud Paris parents Kathy and Rick Hilton were Houston Rockets basketball star Tracy McGrady, and Muhammad Aliâ€™s daughter Tatyana -- not together!

â€œWe just didnâ€™t know what was going to happen next,â€? said one guest. â€œThen Kevin spotted rapper YaBoy and they suddenly did an unexpected performance together. It was 3AM with everybody going home before he called it quits. Who knows if they can hold their marriage together after a night like this.â€?

The couple has had an on-and-off rocky relationship since getting married and Vegas has been the scene of many of their stormy splits. Even friends have predicted that despite their year-old son Sean, the marriage is eventually doomed for disaster.

Only time will tell, and only in Vegas.

Britney's Love for Letter Writing

Britney was spotted with her bodyguard driving her to celebrate the 4th of July with a mystery man at the Four Seasons in LA. The past few days Britney has been busy expressing herself the old fashion way - a hand written note. On Tuesday, she delivered a bizarre note to our friends at X17 about the umbrella incident pre-rehab. She also included the same message on her official site. Now we have more information about the letter she hand delivered to her mom last week. It was a poem titled Dear Mama. Here's more:

In the poem, Spears lamented “that she didn’t have a mom anymore and she couldn’t imagine a mother doing what she did to her child,” a source told the tab. Spears delivered the verse, along with legal papers, to her mother on June 28 on the set of kid sister, Jamie Lynn’s television show, “Zoey 101.” The two are reportedly also battling over the affections of Jamie Lynn.

“Britney said, ‘Here Momma, I just wanted to see your face,’” a source told Star. “Then she got into her car and drove off. Lynne went into the trailer and broke down in tears.” The CD reportedly contained recordings of phone conversations between Lynne Spears and Britney's estranged husband, Kevin Federline, in which the two are apparently working in cahoots.

Spears is forbidding her mother from seeing her two sons, and in one conversation, Lynne is said to be arranging to meet K-Fed and the boys, and says, “I have to be careful that Britney doesn’t find out!” The recordings were made by a private investigator, according to the tab.

Yikes, a private investigator. Sounds like Britney really feels like everyone is ganging up on her. As for the note to X17 and the one on her fan site explaining her crazy incident, click on the image below to see more.

Did Britney Cheat?

Looks like Britney is back to hanging out with her family. Brit and Jamie Lynn headed to a tattoo parlor to mark the new phase in her life. Brit supposedly got a star on her hand. While we couldn't have been happier the day Britney announced she was divorcing Kevin, she has still not done anything worthy of a comeback. Now the latest rumors are she was cheating on Kevin with one of his friends. This J.R. Rotem who is all of a sudden famous since he was caught kissing Britney may have been with the pop star even before she officially filed for divorce. The Scoop reports:

... Spears’s friends were convinced that hanky panky was going on between the two before Spears filed for divorce from her husband. Another source, however, says while there was “definite chemistry” Spears and Rotem waited until she filed papers

But there’s also buzz that Britney’s former best friend Paris Hilton also dated Rotem - and when Spears found out, her friendship with Hilton soured. Rotem also worked with Hilton on her debut CD, and the two dated briefly. “It was nothing serious, just a few hookups,” a source told Star. “I bet a million dollars that J.R. tired to keep that a secret from Britney,” adds the source. “Britney would probably flip out if she knew that he’d romanced Paris first.”

Of course this could all just be a way to piss Kevin off but he sure is working up a nice list for his custody battle.

Amid More Controversy, Britney Records On

Britney isn't letting a pesky child services investigation get in the way of her creative juices. She and her long blonde extensions were seen leaving the recording studio yesterday with what looks like a demo cd in hand. I was a little disappointed by her lackluster "comeback" release, but hopefully she's whipping up some hot dance tracks for the album.

Meanwhile, Kevin's lawyers' attempts to subpoena everyone close to Britney power on. Last night police had to respond to a call when Sam Osama Lufti, who is somehow associated with Brit, rammed his car into that of Aaron Cohen, the man hired by Kevin's Lawyer to serve Sam papers. Obviously, Mr. Lufti does not want to talk.

Also, not much for talking these days is Britney herself, who declined to show up at Sunday's Teen Choice Awards despite being nominated alongside Paris, Lindsay, Sanjaya and Larry Birkhead in the "Newsmakers of the Year" category. When Lindsay, Brit and Paris all skipped out, the show canceled the award entirely. Definitely can't say I blame Britney for not wanting to win a prize for the shaving her head moment.

Nobody Wants to Watch K-Fed

It was rumored that K-Fed's concert in NYC was going to be canceled but instead the show went on but with a very disappointing turnout. The venue he showed off his new album at holds 1,500 people, but only 300 came to watch K-Fed rap his heart out. Kevin even delayed the show in hopes that more of his fans would show up. Poor Kevin, this actually makes me feel sorry for the guy. Here's more:

K-Fed was scheduled to go on at 7 pm, but the crowd was so sparse that the aspiring rapper waited for three hours in hopes that more fans would appear.

“He was holding things up because there weren’t enough fans,” the bartender told the tab. “It was a bad idea - he shouldn’t have neglected the fans who were there.”

Federline’s performance has been described as “mercifully short.” Britney Spears’s hubby only rapped for about half an hour and, reports one eyewitness, “seemed really confused about how to act on stage. He would pace from one side of the stage to the other, just saying things like, ‘Hey’ thirty times in a row or ‘New York, thank you for coming - buy my CD.’ ”

Too bad Britney didn't make a little appearance on stage at K-Fed's show like she did on Letterman - that would have really brought out the fans. More pics of K-Fed performing at

Inside the World of Celebrity Scents

Eighty-four percent of you say you're sick of celebrity fragrances, but you must be anomalies-because celeb perfumes are selling like crazy. Some of the interesting bits from the story:

There's big bucks in this business. Euromonitor International, a Chicago-based market research firm, reports that worldwide sales of the top seven celebrity scent lines-just the top seven!-totaled $353.6 million last year.
Diddy's sitting pretty. A lot of you find his Unforgivable ads cheesy, but the scent is doing just fine. Last year, it did $74.9 million in sales.
Inside the contract: Fragrance companies such as Coty and Elizabeth Arden produce and develop the fragrance, then the star's name goes on the bottle. Contract details are kept private, but the industry standard is to give the celeb 5–10% of sales, with a possible signing bonus.
Jennifer Lopez has made many cents out of scents. Forbes writes: "In 2006, Lopez's net worth was about $110 million, according to Forbes' list of the 20 richest women in entertainment-but her last CD was a flop, as were her last several movies. Sales of her fragrances, including Glow and Live Luxe, totaled $77 million in 2006."

What I'd really like to know-and what the story doesn't reveal, unfortunately-is the extent to which celebrities are involved in creating their scents. I've heard that Hilary Duff had a lot of input and feedback on hers, and I can see Gwen Stefani knowing what she wanted for L. Somehow, though, I'm not convinced that Britney Spears was actively involved in making Believe-at least, not with all of her personal drama this year.

Britney's Problem-Ridden Trip to Miami

Britney Spears took her random House of Blues tour to Miami this weekend, but it wasn't without its fair share of glitches. First she had a bit of a breakdown on the flight to Florida, saying that she wanted off because immediately after take-off she realized the plane "hasn't got leather seats." Sounds logical.

When she finally arrived safely in FLA, aside from shopping in a bustier, there was a show to perform. As usual, Brit performed her brief show, lip syncing her way through the set. Unfortunately, halfway through her "backing" cd started to skip. Brit dealt with the mishap by dancing with her back to the crowd while the track fixed itself. Hey, at least it wasn't like the audience thought she was actually singing at any point. Just a little Ashlee Simpson on SNL-esque embarrassing moment. Lucky for Brit, she wasn't broadcast on TV!

Britney and Kevin Together Again

What did we do to deserve all these photos of the couple together day after day? Maybe the baby is coming any day so Britney does not want to leave Kevin's side.

Once again they are going to the studio where Kevin in working on his CD. Looks like Britney wants to avoid being bored so she brought a book. They also took a break on the deck and Kevin looks like he may lose his pants. I love the little ass tap he gave Brit on their way in.
