California Student Stops Out-of-Control School Bus; Gets Detention For Skipping Class
While technically being at the wrong place at the wrong time, a 15-year-old hometown hero was exactly where she needed to be. It's unclear why Amanda Rouse was on a bus full of elementary school kids when she was supposed to be in class — a high school class. But thankfully, she was ready to take hold of the wheel when the bus driver fell out of her seat (wtf?) and lost control.

When my friends visited me in NYC a few summers ago, when I still lived there, there was one thing they requested be on our itinerary: the Sex and the City bus tour. It's really the best way to experience the sights and stores that Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda did for ten years. Motherhood brings a whole new perspective to a woman's life. Moms jump up to offer their seats to expectant ladies on the bus and rush to aid a lost child at a mall. It is in their nature to fawn over small smiles and get teary when they see a babe in need, but sometimes when they're feeling feisty enough, mamas can huff up and pull out the mommy guns on complete strangers.

- Bin Laden Driver Sentenced:
A panel of military officers have sentenced the convicted former driver of Osama bin Laden to five and a half years in prison. Ignoring the prosecution's pleas for a strict sentence, the 66 month decision means that the first detainee convicted of a war crime in court could complete his punishment by the end of the year. The military judge said he had already planned to give credit for the 61 months the detainee has already served.

It's happened to me more than once: After work I'll be waiting at the bus stop and think, man I could use a beer. It looks like I'm not the only one who had this idea: An entire town in the UK has turned a bus stop — complete with "open" sign and landlord — into a makeshift pub. As the price of food and eating out has become increasingly expensive, more and more people are looking for alternative ways to get together and enjoy a beer or meal.
