I have been watching people at the gym and doing this I have realized that a lot of people simply hop on a piece of cardio equipment and press "quick start" and go. I am guessing this is because they don't want to mess with all the other functions. So I am curious which mode you usually choose...

Simply Fab: Instant Button For Jeans

We gain weight, we lose weight. But what to do when our jeans fall off our waists? If this sounds familiar, get yourself the Instant Button For Jeans ($15 for a set of two). Founder Dana Hanh Contey created it because of personal experience: after three children, she would constantly adjust her jeans' waistband with a safety pin (yikes).

With the Instant Button, simply place the intant button in the desired location, insert the post through the jeans to the underside, and secure it with the clutch fastener to the back of the post. Easy peasy.

She's Crafty: New Buttons, New Jacket

What to do when you have an old jacket that is still Fab, but has gone drab? No need to be dramatic and rid of it, just take another look and see how it can be revived. This was what I did with a 5-year-old DKNY olive green jacket. When I first got it, I wore it to death. Ever since, it has just sat in my closet, with old memories to keep it company. The reason I loved it so was because I realized an olive green jacket pretty much goes with everything. It can be utilitarian, sporty, chic, or just plain casual. The neutral hue works for both Summer and Winter, and it doesn't go out of style.

I knew my old faithful could be revived. What I love most about this jacket is these complex seams along the back and shoulders - I would never tire of those. So I started with the sleeves, and simply rolled them up, for a more distressed style. What really stood out as an eye sore was the drab buttons; these pale green medium sized buttons just camouflaged with the fabric. I thought if I simply changed the buttons - something even I know how to do - the jacket would be refreshed.

The jacket has a slight safari feel, so I immediately thought tortoise buttons would be perfect. I adore the marbleized design of tortoise, and, like the jacket, I find it goes with a lot of colors and styles. This decision was made even before I got to the fabric store.
Britex Fabrics in San Francisco is awesome. They had oodles of tortoise buttons to choose from; it was not an easy choice. I ended up choosing a nice flat tortoise button. The grand total ended up being less than $10. But I was sure to bring the jacket with me, so the salesperson could see what size button I was looking for and so I could imagine the new look. Also, the jacket has four buttons, but I bought one extra in case my sewing skills ever fail me.

Thread. I needed an olive green that would match the jacket. After a quick visit to my parents house - my mom used to sew so she has like every color - I found the perfect little spool of olive green. I was almost ready to take on my project.
Tools. The only tools I needed were a needle and a seam ripper. If you don't already have a seam ripper, I suggest you get one. They come in handy for projects like this, sewing mishaps, and opening closed pockets.
Labor. One evening I went to work and surprisingly the jacket button switcharoo only took a half hour. It was easy to align the new buttons because there were already holes in place. I just started at the top, removed the old button and any residual thread, and sewed on the new button. You can really see the difference the button makeover made! New buttons, new jacket.

In times of a fashion recession, and with the holidays right around the corner, I know the financial bind many of you are in. By simply rejuvenating something you once loved, you can have a (semi) new piece of clothing. Never underestimate the big power of the little button.

Jennifer Ouellette Buttons Headband: Love It or Hate It?

I tend to gravitate toward headpieces that are quirky but not too weird. Which is why this Jennifer Ouellette Buttons Headband ($85) made me stop in my clicks. I thought to myself, buttons on a headband are a neat idea! And since they're black, it's not so out there. What do you think of it? Would you wear buttons on your head?

Casa Quickie: New Uses For Old Buttons

The folks over at Wish have devised a cute and clever way to repurpose those bags of spare buttons sitting in your junk drawer. Use them to keep pairs of earrings together by slipping their posts or hooks through the button holes. If you sport pins or brooches, this will trick will work for them as well. I must say it's a pretty useful idea; my post earrings are always getting lost. Of course, I've got my hook earrings neatly hung on the shutter earring display I made. There's a reason why the expression "cute as a button," is what it is: buttons are darn cute, especially a collection as colorful as this one. You can use a big ole collection of buttons to cover the back of a medallion chair. Though the project is simple but time consuming, it's worth it, as it can add personality to an otherwise prim and proper piece of furniture.

Stars Turn Out For Glamour Women Of The Year Awards

Loads of stars got dressed up to attend the Glamour Women Of The Year Awards at Berkeley Square Gardens last night. Kylie Minogue continued the celebratory mood since her birthday last week by picking up the big award of the night, Woman of the Year, as well as the Entrepreneur gong. British favourites Alexa Chung and Fearne Cotton won the Presenter and Radio Personality awards respectively, and Katy Perry was named Newcomer of the Year.

Acting awards went to Michelle Ryan, Amanda Seyfried, Becki Newton and Joanna Page, all of whom looked stunning on the red carpet, while Girls Aloud were unable to collect their Band of the Year award as they were busy performing on tour. Cheryl Cole couldn't pick up her TV Personality of the Year award in person, and Kanye West wasn't there to collect his Man of the Year gong, but Adele and Estelle both turned up to receive their awards.

Plenty of gorgeous men turned up to support the Women of the Year, including Mocano Grand Prix winner Jenson Button and Dizzee Rascal, who is number one in the singles chart. James Corden took time out from filming Gulliver's Travels to show off his beard at the ceremony, while smouldering Ed Westwick showed once again why he'll be perfect as Heathcliff.

Is Your Belly Button an Innie or an Outie?

New research out of Finland takes contemplating your navel to an entirely new level. After determining the aesthetically preferred shape - "t-shaped or oval and vertical, with a little hooding, and which don't protrude" - experimental biologist Ari Sinkkonen firmly believes that belly buttons signal the reproductive potential of women.

An asymmetrical umbilicus, as belly buttons are known in medical speak, might indicate a future mother's own difficult gestation and delivery. These difficulties are ones that may be passed down genetically, turning a seemingly benign belly button into a visual cue of maternal potential. Evolution ultimately boils down to the passing of the seed, and maybe lounging about in your bikini is sending potential mates signals we are just learning to consciously read. Maybe that, or maybe a belly button is just a belly button.

Sinkkonen remarked that women shouldn't worry about the state of their navels; he just believes they exist for more than collecting lint.

Geri, Jesse and Josh Watch Jenson's Monaco Win

The South of France was certainly the place to be this weekend: as the Cannes Film Festival came to a close, Jenson Button drove to victory at the Monaco Grand Prix on Saturday. Plenty of celebs enjoyed the sunny F1 race, including Geri Halliwell, Josh Hartnett and Peaches Geldof plus Jesse Metcalfe and new BFF James Blunt! Couples loved the action too, with Chris Evans cuddling his wife, Geri hanging out with her new man Henry Beckwith, and man of the moment Jenson celebrating at the gala dinner with girlfriend Jessica Michibata.

It wasn't such a happy occasion for Lewis Hamilton, who came twelfth out of 20, but he smiled on Friday night at the Amber Fashion Show. Liz Hurley gazed lovingly at hubby Arun Nayer, Princess Beatrice enjoyed the show with boyfriend Dave Clark, and David Furnish and David Walliams kept each other company, while Lewis and Jenson took to the catwalk.

To Snooze or Not to Snooze

In a dark room, in a deep dream, your early morning alarm clock buzzing you awake can be quite disarming, but you probably shouldn't press the snooze button. Those extra nine, 18, or 27 minutes of sleep, depending on how many times your press the snooze button, are not going to help you dig yourself out of a sleep deficit. Those extra minutes of sleep are fragmented and in no way deep so they don't provide the rest you need. Rather than relying "snooze button sleep," try getting to bed earlier to catch some extra shut-eye. How many times do you usually press the snooze button? Tell me in the comments section below.
