You may not know this but Etsy, the online marketplace for handmade goods, also sells vintage items. When they first introduced vintage, I whined a little, saddened that it would no longer be 100 percent handmade. But, when I come across vintage items like this Dessert Please Cake Plate ($65), everything is okay in the world.

By now most of you know about my obsession with making cakes. I don't mean those cakes from a Betty Crocker box, I mean elaborate creations that have tons of steps and take hours to complete. An epic cake of these proportions deserves, and requires, beautiful presentation.

I love making cakes especially for birthdays, parties, and special events. I'm not talking easy cakes from a Duncan Hines box, I'm talking about four layer cakes with multiple fillings, glazes, ganaches, frostings, and garnishes. I know when I've made a great cake when the final product takes the breath away from my guests, my mother says, WOW, and my father goes back for late night seconds and thirds.

It will fill the house with an enticing aroma and get your family excited for the breakfast.

Dear FitSugar,
I have a dilemma. Before my job started requiring me to do field work, I used to eat healthy lunches (steamed veggies, brown rice, grilled/steamed chicken or fish). During lunches on field, my colleagues usually go to street food stalls and we eat oily "home-cooked" fare and white rice.

It's multiple mania here at Sugar! After sending queen Sugar on her way to deliver a healthy baby girl, we showered our own LilSugar in bright floral style. The only thing that could outdo those diaper cakes would be TWO of them.

The Black Forest is a wooded region in Southwestern Germany. It's from this area that Black Forest ham and Black Forest cake originated. Traditionally the confection consists of layers of chocolate cake, kirsch, and sour cherries, but this recipe uses those ingredients to make crumb bars.
