Telstar - See It or Skip It?

Set in London the music scene of the early 1960s, Telstar tells the true story of record producer Joe Meek. It has a brilliantly eclectic cast, including James Corden, Pam Ferris, Kevin Spacey, Ralf Little, Nigel Harman, Callum Dixon, Tom Burke, JJ Feild, and Con O’Neill in the lead role, plus ex-Libertine Carl Barat and The Darkness's Justin Hawkins. Directed and co-written by Nick Moran, Telstar's soundtrack includes Duffy's cover of The Cryin' Shames' "Please Stay". Sugar Bits - Michael Jackson Denies Skin Cancer Claims

Michael Jackson has allegedly denied reports that he is battling skin cancer, after a story was published in The Sun saying he was diagnosed with the disease last month. - Mirror

NME Awards 2009: The Winners!

I'll be updating the winners of all the 2009 NME Awards in this post, so keep your eyes peeled and see if your favourite nominee took home the trophy you wanted them to! Muse beat out Radiohead, Oasis, The Killers and Kings Of Leon to the trophy for Best Live Act, as voted for by NME readers. Oasis have won the Best British Band gong, while Pete Doherty has picked up the Best Solo Act award! Are you pleased with the winners so far? Let me know if you think the winners deserve their awards (or not) in the comments.

MGMT took two awards for Best New Band and Best Song, while the Jonas Brothers were also double winners - taking Worst Band and Worst Album. President Barack Obama was awarded the Hero of the Year award, while George W. Bush was voted the Villian of the Year, for the sixth time in a row! Alexa Chung beat out Alex Turner to win best dressed, and that crazy The Mighty Boosh gang won Best TV Show - check out pictures of some of the winners in the gallery!

NME Announces Their Award Nominees For 2009!

Last night the NME Awards nominees were announced, where Oasis earned a massive seven nominations, including Best British Band, Best Live Band and Best Album. The categories range from the musical, encompass TV - where PopSugarUK favourites Gavin & Stacey and Skins are up for awards - film, web, venues, style, and then move on to the more fun Hero / Villian Of The Year categories.

Those American teen sensations the Jonas Brothers have also been recognised, with nods in the Worst Band and Worst Album categories in the reader-voted shortlists, but they shouldn't worry too much as they're also alongside Best Band nominee Oasis. What a fickle bunch those NME readers are! The ceremony will take place on February 25 at the Brixton Academy in London, and you can vote for the winners right here - so have your say in the final outcome!

Nick And Carl Bring Telstar To The Screen

Telstar - Nick Moran’s film about the life and death of the record producer Joe Meek - screened at the London Film Festival on the very same night Che premiered. Nick's film received support from stars JJ Feild and Pam Ferris, as well as more musically-known castmate Carl Barat, who was looking a little windswept as he walked the red carpet. Nick gave an informal speech to introduce the movie to the seated audience, and it's definitely something I'm curious to see. Are you?

Monsters Of Rock At Reading and Leeds

This weekend the massive Reading and Leeds festivals took place with performances from Metallica, Dirty Pretty Things, Manic Street Preachers, Rage Against The Machine, The Last Shadow Puppets, Bloc Party and oh so many more. A bored-looking Kate Moss watched from the sound desk as her man Jamie Hince got down on one knee in front of his bandmate Alison Mosshart during The Kills' set. Meanwhile Alexa Chung hung out with Alex Turner and his bandmate Miles Kane on the grass at Leeds – what do you think of her festival look?

As much fun as it was, the festival was not without a couple of less appealing moments. Rumours of an unannounced Foo Fighters set caused chaos at a BBC tent, and a fire at Reading spread to 19 vehicles in a car park, originally caused by a barbecue. Still, most people had a great time – and some extra amusement was brought to the stage by Jack Black and Kyle Gass aka Tenacious D, who wore a couple of fabulous costumes. I love Kyle's monster outfit!

T4 On The Beach: A Summer-y Summary

So I've told you about my experiences with McFly, the Skins cast and Kelly Rowland at T4 On The Beach, but now it's time to show you all the rest of my photos and sum up the day. A couple of my style icons Agyness Deyn and Alexa Chung both did their thing onstage at the event, Agyness looked fab (do you agree?) in her checked shirt, which seemed to be the item du jour for all of the men who were there, from McFly's Harry and Dougie to T4 presenters Steve Jones and Rick Edwards.

The 45,000 strong crowd loved Agyness and there was a roar when she took to the stage to sing with Five O'Clock Heroes – she also brought her man Albert Hammond Jr to keep her company! Alexa was rushing about backstage to present her links, but looked gorgeous in her mini with ankle boots. She was also rocking some wayfarers, like many people at the event including yours truly and the super-cool Carl Barat who performed with Dirty Pretty Things.

Alexa's fashion partner in crime Gok Wan was also there, and I spied him in the VIP bar watching Feeder perform "Buck Rogers". A little later Gok and friends took advantage of some transportation that was going unused backstage, staging a smile-filled mini photo shoot outside the press tent. The Ting Tings put on a great performance despite a little trouble with Katie's microphone cord, and "Shut Up And Let Me Go" was definitely a highlight of the afternoon. The boys in the crowd all perked up when Basshunter performed with a bunch of scantily clad female dancers, and the entire Basshunter crew got rather merry on the free booze backstage following the performance as the album went in at number one yesterday!

Speaking of the scantily clad, the press tent went rather quiet as four of the Gladiators came in wearing their costumes... one of whom the female faction went a little googly eyed over. Who knew ridiculous costumes could have that effect? At the same time Gemma Atkinson came in and the men also got a little googly eyed. She's really petite, seemed very down to earth and was so friendly to everybody backstage – another genuinely nice type, which was fab to see.

All in all it was an awesome day, and I can't wait for next year. Did any of you go or watch it go out live on TV? Let me know!

Lovers, Family and Friends Feature at the O2 Festival

The O2 Wireless Festival kicked off on Thursday with Jay-Z and Lily Allen taking to the stage, and the weekend saw Carl Barat, Fatboy Slim and the Counting Crows perform. We also spotted a few famous pairs in the audience, including Russell Brand and his new love Teresa Palmer, who had a busy Friday also attending the Silver Clef Awards. Pixie Geldof hung out with Alexa Chung and her Mulberry Bayswater - enter Fab UK's giveaway for a chance to bag one for yourself! Who do you think is more festival chic: Pixie or Alexa? Pixie was celebrating the end of school - it's easy to forget how young she is, isn't it? - and her Dad Bob took the youngest sibling on Saturday. Judging from the way she's styling out that bag, Tiger Lily looks set to follow in her fashion-savvy sisters' footsteps. What do you think of a pre-teen carrying an It-bag?
