Do Tell: Is the Scratch Lounge All That?

I'm already starting my Christmas shopping list (the early bird gets the worm, right?), and one of the people at the top is my cat-loving pal. So while brainstorming what to get her (and kitty) for the holiday, I came across the Scratch Lounge, and was totally blown away by the testimonials of how much cats love it!

At first glance, the Scratch Lounge is just a simple three-sided scratcher that doubles as a sleeping spot. Apparently, cats use the Scratch Lounge 100 times more than regular scratchers. What is up with that?!

Is it the patented super-dense honeycomb panels that make scratching (and sleeping) irresistible? Is it the free bag of premium catnip that is thrown in with your order (but makers assure us that it's definitely not required for use with the Scratch Lounge)? I'm totally intrigued. So help me out - do you have the Scratch Lounge? And if so, are your cats in love with it, too?

It's obvious that pet design is taking a modern approach these days, especially when I see things like this Leo Cat Scratcher that reminds me of a certain vase I've been craving from Target.

Totally different from other cat scratchers we've featured, this one is made of zebra wood and a polished, wobbly aluminum base to keep kitty occupied. I'm sure The Leo has made a home in a posh living room somewhere already – is yours next?

New Product Alert: Latest Cat Livin' Scratcher

Cat Livin, makers of that sisal sofa and cool climber have previewed their latest creation, this wedge scratcher, at pet industry trade show, SuperZoo last week.

While I generally love their products (especially that scratchy cat cube we gave away in July), I'd have to see this product up close to be certain - it looks slightly less stable for vigorous scratchers but still sleek nonetheless. When it's finally up for sale, will you be buying one for your furry felines?

This Scratcher Lets Kitty Scratch Her Own Face

I'm a sucker for super-cute scratchers and not only do I have my eye on this one, kitty has her whole face on it. After all, a feline outline says "I love cats" in a much cooler way than a carpeted scratcher would do and, while it's on the pricier side, why not splurge on such a fun shape (especially for those cardboard fans out there). The Kittypod Mini ($98) is recycled and recyclable . . . not that you'd ever want to throw it away.

The Wedge Is Beautiful, But Would Your Cats Dig It?

I worry about scratching posts that look too much like my bed - how will kitty know to scratch this and not my frame and carpet?! I know I'm not giving her enough credit, as carpeted wood scratchers are all the rage and some of the sturdiest, sleek designs around. Take this Wedge model we previewed at last Fall's SuperZoo, it blends right into the room and looks stylish to boot.
