It's like the week in flying cats! First there was the story of a New York City cat that survived a 26-story fall from a Manhattan highrise apartment. It landed on a neighbor's balcony with minor injuries, and yes, it's name is Lucky. And now I present you with the story of a cat who was stuck in a tree for a week and, just as he was about to be rescued by some good Samaritans, decided he'd had enough and just took a flying leap. Ask Casa: Cat Hair on Curtains

Dear Casa,
You recently posted a story about hanging curtains. All of my curtains have been hanging happily for a while now, but they get a lot of cat hair on them! Taking them down is a pain because the curtain rod has a little screw to keep it from moving around. I live alone, so using the vacuum was scary and I thought I might pull them down. Do you have any suggestions?

Hi Scissorz,
Good questions! I'm assuming shaving your cat (kidding!) is out of the question, so I have a few other suggestions for you.

First of all, you might consider replacing your curtain rods with some that don't screw in. Check out Shopstyle for a range of choices.
If your vacuum has a long wand with a brush at the end, you should be able to safely vacuum your curtains hanging.
You can also just use a lint brush or a fur fighter to remove your pet hair directly from the curtains.
I'd also recommend purchasing curtains or shades with button tabs like the PB Solutions Button-Up Shade ($48), which you can just unbutton to remove without having to unscrew your curtain rod.
If you're partial to the curtains you own, you can just have a seamstress add button tabs to them, or do it yourself if you know how to sew.
You can also unstitch the foldover part of your curtains, and iron on velcro where the curtains were stitched together. So, instead of running the curtain through the rod, you just keep it wrapped around the rod with the velcro. Then, you can easily pull them off when you vacuum them.

Some of us Americans (myself included) are woefully unaware of who world leaders are. Like, do you know if Japan has a president or a prime minister? Do you know this person's name? (Taro Aso is the prime minister, and yes, I looked it up.) Well, I have another open secret for you. Somewhere in the back streets of Tokyo, there resides an aristo-cat who is really the Furry King of Japan. Here's some secret footage of him enjoying a repast of gyoza and beer! (As for the momentary stink eye - I think one of his subjects back-talked. He doesn't like that.)

Halloween How To: Cat

Dressing up for Halloween is lots of fun, but let's face it, most of us don't want to look unattractive or scary for a night out. A witch's cat is a failsafe costume choice for flirty sex kittens and if you don't want to go all out like Heidi Klum did last year, then you can just create feline-like makeup and wear black leggings and boots.

If you're looking for something really easy to achieve, all you need to do is buy a cat mask and wear with dark purple-red lipstick. Personally I think the purr-fect eye makeup is all part of the fun, so follow my easy tips for directions on how to get that meow factor!

Face: Keep your complexion pale as this will help emphasise your dark cat features. Try a matte foundation such as Bourjois Brush Foundation (£11.95). Skip blusher as they'll be enough going on with the whiskers!
Whiskers and nose: Using a black eye pencil draw on three whiskers on each side. Start from just above your nostrils and make the lines go out as far as your cheekbones. Don't worry about making the whiskers too purr-fect, an uneven look will be more natural. If you want, draw an upside down triangle on the tip of your nose with kohl and colour it in. I'd use a pencil eyeliner but you can draw over the line in liquid if you want a glossy effect.
Eyes: Emphasise your brows to balance out the darkness of the whiskers. Try Benefit Instant Brow Pencil (£12.50) and exaggerate the arch for a kittenish vibe. Next, use a pale cream shadow over the entire lid and all the way up to the brows. Finally, take a black kohl pencil and line the upper and lower lashes. Flick the pencil out to the side to create that cat's eye effect. Follow Alexa Chung's lead and go for a winged look for added glamour. Alternatively, make like Heidi and go crazy with the gothic glitter. Try dotting Barry M Dazzle Dust (£4.50) in charcoal around the eyes for a scary puss effect.
Lips: The old beauty adage about only emphasising eyes or lips can be ignored for fancy dress. Go for strong look-at-me red lips. Just a slick of Urban Decay Iconic Lipstick (£12) in Revloution is cool for cats.
Hair: To create two cat's ears first divide the hair into two sections with a middle parting. Next, twist each section around your hands. Aim to create two buns on the top of the head to resemble ears. Pin each bun to the head using kirby grips and an elastic. Add lots of hairspray to ensure your do lasts for a night on the tiles.

Wear Your Animal on Your Sleeve!

With springtime coming up, I've been scouring my fave shops for some cool and light tees to wear when the weather gets warmer. Since I hardly ever have time to shop, between work and spending QT with North and his BFF's at the doggie parks, I usually reserve shopping time for weekends or online. Pets in the House: Jezebel Loves Being a Girl

Aimeeb shared an adorably girl photo of her kitty Jezebel in the Pets in the House TeamSugar group. Aimeeb says,

My little Jezebel just loves being a girl. Every time I take out my cosmetic bag she makes it a point to tip it over, pull everything out and make it her new home. She truly is a girly girl, just like her mom.
