While most eighth graders whittled away this Summer at swim camp, one young man became the hottest rising caterer in the Hamptons.
Meet Greg Grossman, a 13-year-old chef prodigy from East Hampton, NY. Recently profiled in the New York Post, Grossman so far this Summer has "seared 75 pounds of scallops, cured 30 pounds of salmon, plated 200 micro-green salads and reduced at least 20 bottles of red wine" while catering for parties.

Fabio Viviani may not have won season five of Top Chef, but we figured he'd go far. Turns out, the rumors about his own show are true: Fabio is getting a reality series on Bravo.
According to Variety, Fabio is one of three Bravo reality stars starring in upcoming spinoffs, along with Project Runway winner Christian Siriano and Real Housewives fixture and natural foods chef Bethenny Frankel.

Rarely is there "breaking news" in the food industry, new products launch, cookbooks come out, shows get cancelled, restaurants open and then close, but I just saw something that is rather breaking news and in the food industry as well. Turns out that an employee of Wolfgang Puck Catering was just diagnosed with acute hepatitis A.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health confirmed that an employee of Wolfgang Puck Catering was recently diagnosed with the disease, and has strongly urged anyone who attended the SI party, or any of the 13 other events catered by Puck between Feb.

Meet the biggest buzzword in the food world this minute: koodies. No, I'm not referring to the term we used prolifically as fourth graders; I'm talking about kid foodies. Food trend analyst Phil Lempert, also known as the Supermarket Guru, coined the term to refer to children with an "ardent or refined interest in food" or "an unusual, sometimes fanatic, desire to eat unusual foods."

Precocious child chefs and foodies — a trend to hit the media circuit last year — apparently aren't over yet. Remember Greg Grossman, the 13-year-old rising caterer on the Hamptons circuit? Now 14, the kid caterer is no longer a novice to the world of publicity, and has recently landed a deal to develop his own television show.
